The U.S. just bombed a couple ISIS strongholds in Iraq

Posted: Aug 8, 2014

Yesterday, the Pentagon denied they were going to do, or did any airstrikes, yet the NY Times had published a report stating they did.

Yesterday, Obama said he would strike ISIS if....

...so today, they did. I have a feeling the NY Times may have been righ6t.

;

I just read that via Pentagon tweet! - Meanwhile, ISIS threatens

This man cannot, simply CANNOT make a decision. It's not really too surprising I guess. He has never had to make any as far as being the overseer of anything in his life. Community organizer. Oh, brother. He drops the ball again.

He should have also used that *scholarly* brain... - sm

...to think a bit more before he made a premature withdrawal of ALL troops. Al Qaeda was not "on the run" as he so *eloquently* spoke, yeah, right! Let's pray he doesn't pull the same stunt again and allow them to regroup, because they will. If you and I know that, why doesn't he?
So you would prefer that he NOT abide by - sm

the agreement between Iraq and the USA? We would still be OCCUPIERS of Iraq, just as Israel occupies Palestine.

People don't want any more war. This whole war was started on a bunch of lies by an IDIOT president. We NEVER had any reason to attack a country that never attacked us.

I guess you can't understand the concept of President Obama using air strikes over TARGETED areas of Iraq in order to DESTROY the large weapons cache they have acquired. With every air strike, that means MORE weapons get destroyed. That means the LESS weapons ISSA has to use against ANYONE.

I mean, this isn't rocket science, and I stand by our President and feel he is doing the right thing! NO MORE BOOTS ON THE GROUND = NO MORE DEAD AMERICANS.

Destruction of weapons = weakness of ISIS.

This is not rocket science here. - sm

Quote: "This man cannot, simply CANNOT make a decision."

People like you and your ilk who post on this board on a regular basis with criticism of the President of the United States for making all kinds of different decisions are now making these type of comments. Oh brother. It's not really too surprising, I guess. They claim he is indecisive while voting to sue him for making decisions. It's that cognitive dissonance they are so famous for. They actually believe both with equal fervor. LOL

In typical right wing fashion, they seem to frequently and regularly represent their own worst argument.

Thank you President Obama for having - a level head

President Obama’s announcement that America has bombed ISIS elements in Iraq in order to secure innocents prompted some predictable, but still silly responses. From the far left, any use of U.S. Military assets is always up for debate, no matter how limited or humanitarian. For these folks, there is no responsibility attached to the great power America possesses. These are also the people who convinced themselves that President Obama ran in 2008 as a peace at all costs candidate – he never did (and I would never have supported such a candidate, especially not with Al Qaeda out there).

The response from the right is even more ludicrous — half of them complain that we should still be occupying Iraq and at war there, while the other half complains that Obama is back at war with Iraq. As if some air strikes are the same as Bush’s occupation of the country for nonexistent WMD that led to the deaths of thousands of Americans and Iraqis.

What we appear to be seeing now is a return to normalcy, away from the cowboy idiot policies of the Bush administration and its neocon war council, and back towards the somewhat consensus vision from the first Bush administration and the Clinton team. That is the idea that America is not silent or immobile when global crises pop up, but we don't go into those crises like a bull in a china shop either. You follow the Powell doctrine, in one way or another. Overwhelming force, with clearly designed goals and markers and not an open-ended operation like the Bush occupation of Iraq.

From where I stand, this is what you’re supposed to do. I don’t believe we can sit back and fail to react when mass crimes are underway, but at the same time we can’t play cowboy. We go in, have a goal, execute, and fall back. This seems like the right way to go, and it's the path that Obama has repeatedly said we are on for years now. If you didn’t hear that, you weren’t actually listening.

IF he hadn't been in such a hurry to pull out of Iraq, - we wouldn't have to go back

clean up the mess. You know the US will also have to send more troops to Afghanistan. He created this.

More and more with each passing day, Obama shows himself to be weak and incompetent. Our enemies know this and will take advantage of this at every opportunity.
This is ALL on Obama. - sm

No fancy talk from copy and paste articles is going to convince anyone except those who need a little hand holding or spoon feeding from the leftwing propaganda machine. Nope, not for me. I don't even read or listen to the *stuff* they spew anymore.

analysts are beginning to see the truth.

But the MSM is only concerned about his legacy. Liberals find meaning in life through politics and the exercise of political power. ISIS doesn't directly threaten them as much as a rival political ideology does.

take care of everything. No, he's in deep now. He has to take responsibility. This is all on him. Could have been prevented if he had helped Maliki when asked to. Someone on CNN was heard to remark, something like, "it's a shame this all this had to happen now when he's trying to leave on a well-earned vacation." Good grief. Will they never stop carrying his water??
I broke a fingernail this morning. - It MUST be Obamas fault.

What About Iraq War Veterans Committing Suicide??? May 29, 2012

US Blackwater Lawsuit Signatures Sought By Iraq Jan 19, 2010
Iraq has begun collecting signatures for a class action lawsuit on behalf of people killed or wounded in incidents involving US security firm Blackwater. It will seek compensation for a number of such cases, the office of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said. Incidents include the 2007 killing of 17 Iraqis in Baghdad's Nisoor Square. Last month, a US judge dismissed charges against five Blackwater guards over those killings, which Iraqi officials described as "regrettable". Immediately ...

AP Interview: Iraq Premier Nixes US Ground TroopsSep 18, 2014
Oh, look. The new leader of Iraq does not want and will not allow ground troops from other countries in Iraq. How can we continue to blame Obama for this the same way he is blamed for Bush's Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) to remove all ground troops from Iraq by 12/31/2011? According to the SOFA signed by Bush in 2008, a system had to be established for Iraqi approval of every single US mission. Every single time that US troops leave their bases, it has to be cleared by the Iraqis. Accor ...
