IRAQ

Maybe BO can negotiate with the terrorists overtaking Iraq and broker a deal to reduce our fuel prices. He didn't listen to all of the military opinions before his premature withdrawal and look what happened, just what many military experts predicted. Thanks, Mr. President, for undoing what was done. Also, Iraq was apparently recently begging the WH for military strikes against the terrorists, but he declined. I guess he was busy on the links that day.

The Taliban have not been declared a terrorist organization. I'm quite sure he DID listen to military options, but he really didn't have many, since Iraq was not willing to let us continue to occupy their sovereign state (as is their right) per the Status of Forces Agreement. Please don't forget that Iraq was, though not a perfect place, reasonably stable before GW needlessly invaded and radically destabilized it, and knock-on effects are continuing to be felt and will for decades. Obama bears virtually no blame for any of this. Find something else to blame him for.

Better check your facts. - It's not the Taliban.

It's Al-Qaeda. I actually heard the term, it's Al-Qaeda's little brother on steroids.

As far as your other comments, they've all been addressed on this board before and your premises have been shot down. I will not revisit the issue.

I was referencing the OP's comment that Obama can "negotiate with terrorists" - which was an obvious reference to the recent Bergdahl prisoner swap with the Taliban (who have not been designated as terrorists). Further, this group in Iraq is not actually Al-Qaeda. And please further enlighten me on my "premises" that have been shot down. No president has the power to keep troops in a country that does not want them there. And there is ample proof that the Bush Administration's rush to war in Iraq was foolish and has had horrible repercussions for that country - without doing anything to keep us "safer."
Then we'll just have to disagree. - OP

I am not going to get into an argument about something as serious as this. If you want to split hairs on what you call terrorists or not and what you want to call Al-Qaeda or not, go for it. Regardless of the title you give them, they are BAD, BAD people. Period. And BO has been negotiating with them and possibly even giving them money in exchange for a possible deserter. So glad I don't have the guilt of knowing I voted for this man.
Group in Iraq is Al-Qaeda - see message

If you want to "split hairs," part of the linked article is noted below. Note the Al-Qaeda affiliation.

Maliki is believed to be considering the offer, especially in light of reported decisions by the U.S. to reject his request for American airstrikes against the Al Qaeda-affiliated militants who have recently overrun Mosul and Tikrit and appear to be preparing for a march on the capital. The two brigades that Suleimani offered are Asaab Ahel Haq, a Shi’ite paramilitary unit, and the Shi’ite insurgency group Kata'ib Hezbollah.

It's not like it's a surprise that everything there is - unraveling again. It always does.

What About Iraq War Veterans Committing Suicide??? May 29, 2012
I just watched a TV documentary about new war veterans coming back from Iraq.  They say that every day at least 28 veterans are committing suicide.  This is truly shocking news.  I am wondering if their statistics are really accurate.  They say that only 33% are approved to receive PTSD benefits.  There is not enough money in their budget to approve all the claims.  I used to transcribe Veteran's health care reports and know that there are many mental heal ...

US Blackwater Lawsuit Signatures Sought By Iraq Jan 19, 2010
Iraq has begun collecting signatures for a class action lawsuit on behalf of people killed or wounded in incidents involving US security firm Blackwater. It will seek compensation for a number of such cases, the office of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said. Incidents include the 2007 killing of 17 Iraqis in Baghdad's Nisoor Square. Last month, a US judge dismissed charges against five Blackwater guards over those killings, which Iraqi officials described as "regrettable". Immediately ...

AP Interview: Iraq Premier Nixes US Ground TroopsSep 18, 2014
Oh, look. The new leader of Iraq does not want and will not allow ground troops from other countries in Iraq. How can we continue to blame Obama for this the same way he is blamed for Bush's Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) to remove all ground troops from Iraq by 12/31/2011? According to the SOFA signed by Bush in 2008, a system had to be established for Iraqi approval of every single US mission. Every single time that US troops leave their bases, it has to be cleared by the Iraqis. Accor ...

Pat Robertson Unloads On Bush For Latest Iraq Crisis: "We Were Sold A Bill Of Goods."Jun 18, 2014
