Comcast control, Fox control - Thought manipulation

Keith will be back somewhere. Interesting to see if the other shows change significantly. I heard earlier if the merger went through, the liberal voices would be out. Here is comes. Third world Amercia thanks to Fox and Comcast.

I'm going to genuinely miss Keith, but I think he'll be back somewhere. - me

Hubby and I would watch him every night. He was very entertaining and thought-provoking.

News stated Comcast had nothing to do with it. - Backwards Typist

He wasn't as bad as some of them. Ed Shultz should have been the first to go.

Neither MSNBC nor KO is saying anything. This probably goes back to the story a couple weeks ago where MSNBC stated they were going to lean a little more to the right. I don't think KO cared for that.

Don't think he will be back somewhere soon unless he pays to get out of it. He has a 2 year contract in place yet and probably will not be able to break it. Look at all the other commentators that had left networks. They all have a non-compete clause. They couldn't work for another network for the remainder of their contract.
I don't believe Comcast any more than - I believe anything from Rupert/Roger nm

maybe - skippy

[ In Reply To ..]
it wasn't because of conspiracy with Fox and Comcast. Maybe it was because he had no ratings. He probably needs a break anyway - he seems like an angry Grumpy Gus. That's probably what amazed me the most, is that his guy was in the White House, Dems had control of the House and the Senate but still, he seemed angry all the time. Go figure.
How could he help it? - He was in a position
[ In Reply To ..]
where he had to be informed of what the idiots on the right (Beck, Hannity, BO, ans Palin) were saying and doing. It just made him so mad, as it would anyone with half a brain, that it had to blow somewhere. I hope he gets Workers Comp.
Anger was part of his schtick. - LK

He had a niche that was all "angry liberal," although spoiled baby was more what he came across as. Apparently some people like watching others throw temper tantrums on TV.

Here's an article (blog) that delves further into KO's leaving - Backwards Typist

I'm sure more will come out in the next few days, but for now, this blog does have quotes about his leaving. It sounds to me, but I'm speculating here, that it was a long time in coming.

Keith Olbermann out at MSNBC

By Greg Sargent

So Keith Olbermann is out. As best as I can tell, none of the news accounts about his departure have gotten to the bottom of what happened here. But Olbermann himself offered enough clues in his final broadcast for us to reasonably speculate that he abruptly got the ax, perhaps even as late as last night.

A "knowledgeable official" at MSNBC told Howard Kurtz that the separation was "mutual." But it's hard to see how that squares with this, from Olbermann's last words on Countdown last night:

"I think the same fantasy has popped into the head of everybody in my business who has ever been told what I have been told, that this is going to be the last edition of your show. You go directly to the scene from the movie 'Network,' complete with the pajamas, and the raincoat, and you go off on an existential, otherworldly journey of profundity and vision...

"When I resigned from ESPN 13 and a half years ago, I was literally given 30 seconds to say goodbye at the very end of my last edition of "Sports Center." As God is my witness, in the commercial break just before the emotional moment, the producer got into my earpiece and he said, `uh, can you cut it down to 15 seconds, so we can get in this tennis result from Stuttgart? So I'm grateful that I have a little more time to sign off here."

Between this and the shell-shocked look Olbermann had last night, it seems clear that he may have been abruptly informed that he was history, perhaps even during last night's show. That would also square with the experience of Josh Marshall, who was in MSNBC's studios last night and had no sense that anything was amiss.

Keith Olbermann Special Comment - AfghanistanDec 01, 2009
This is for those who like and understand Keith Olbermann. It's about our occupation and war against Afghanistan. There's very little, if anything, that I disagree with him about. I hope those who do not care for Olbermann will at least listen to the comment and then give their opinions so we can have a real debate on this thread and not just drive-by one-liners like "I hate Olbermann" or "I hate MSNBC" or other comments along those lines. Beck/OlbermannJun 09, 2011
I hope this post doesn't bring out the worst in us.  It's been a crazy week with a lot of name calling.  My intention on posting this was purely the entertainment factor and not to debate who is more disliked.  Personally, for me, I dislike both but for different reasons.  Do you think we can keep it civil? Olbermann Versus GoreApr 06, 2012
And Rush is still on the air. Ding. ding, ding.  Round #2..... LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Current TV on Friday counter-sued former host Keith Olbermann, claiming he failed to perform his duties for the progressive television network and saying it does not owe him "a dime" of the millions Olbermann claims he is owed. Current and Olbermann, who hosted his program "Countdown" on the network, have been locked in a war of words and legal filings since last week, when Current fired the comment ...

Maddow, Olbermann Invited To White House Chat With ObamaOct 22, 2009
By Chris Ariens on Oct 21, 2009 12:58 PM Here's a curious turn in the White House vs. Fox News fight. On Monday, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow were among several people who attended an off-the-record briefing with Pres. Obama at the White House. Sources tell us other attendees at the two-and-a-half hour chat included Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post, Maureen Dowd of the New York Times, Gwen Ifill of PBS and Gloria Borger of CNN. Perhaps not surprisingly, no one fr ...

Keith Ablow On Fox News, So If You're A Liberal Your.Oct 16, 2013
Psychiatrist Dr. Keith Ablow appeared on Fox News Wednesday to psychoanalyze President Barack Obama, claiming the president won’t negotiate with House Republicans because his father “abandoned” him and his grandmother “didn’t trust men of color.” Steve Doocy of “Fox & Friends” introduced the segment by showing clips of the president referring to the shutdown as a “hostage” situation. Doocy asked Ablow if Obama’s “language” reveals anything about his personality. S ...

Keith Ellison Wants To Be The Head Of The DNC. CongressmanNov 17, 2016
Ellison formally announced his bid Monday, saying the party needs to rebuild its ties to voters... However, Ellison’s past associations and comments may trouble more moderate voters. Ellison’s 2006 run for his seat was plunged into controversy after the conservative PowerLineBlog.com found he had once identified with Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam and in 1998 was referring to himself as Keith X Ellison and Keith Ellison-Muhammed. The Washington Post reported that Ellison had defended ...

Keith Ellison Once Said Black People Don't Have An Obligation To ObeyFeb 24, 2017
Democratic congressman and DNC chair front-runner Keith Ellison once said that “black people don’t live in a democracy” and “don’t have an obligation” to obey the government. Ellison made the comments at a 1992 protest after white police officers were acquitted in the beating of Rodney King. At least 63 people died in the racially charged riots following the verdict. Minnesota newspaper the Star Tribune quotes Ellison as telling a group of protesters in Minneapolis that “Blac ...

Saw Shrek 4 In 3-D It Was GreatJun 07, 2010
Summer is coming and we live in Florida where it is hot and rainy.  My son was bored and I was too... so we found a movie theater locally which did not cost an arm and a leg.  I took him to see Shrek 3-D and it was GREAT! Highly recommended.  I can see how some people might get a little nauseous with the 3-D because sometimes it is hard to take especially with buttered popcorn in the stomach! But it really was great in 3-D.  It really reminded me of the old "Disney."  As ...

Got the car fixed - several things wrong with it - so hopefully fingers crossed it will make it through the winter.  The whole winter.  And there's another car here, so if worse came to worst, I could take that. Moral of the story - a big stress is when "worse comes to worst" is on the horizon, and you have to live with that possibility day in and day out.  So one aspect of that is gone. Bought a nice velveteen-ish jacket at Salvation Army - eight dollars - it is pitiful wh ...
