Shouldn't this be on the Gab Board? How is - a spat between boss and employee a political issue

Al Gore has essentially been out of politics for more than a decade. Though he does occasionally comment on politics from time to time, like all private citizens, his TV network is not even exlusively political. KO has never held office and is a media pundit. Did Congress or the state legislatures vote on this? Is it fueled by or does it affect any federal, state or local laws or policies? The link you cite is insidetv.ew.com, a decidely apolitical entertainment outlet.

What is it about this earthshaking news that merits a SECOND posting in as many days? Did the first failed attempt at flame fanning not elicit enough oppositional outrage? Oh, I get it. It's a second opportunity to express that (yawn) ugly all-things-liberal hatred we have come to expect and often choose to ignore, particularly when it has no discernible political substance.

Mr. Olberman, just like Mr. O'Reilly, Mr. Stewart, etc are all political commentators and worthy of being discussed on the political board.

They are all political commentators, but when posts appear about them they are usually tied their reporting on a political issue. This one is relative to Olbermann's personality and behavior as an employee. The comments it elicited were void of any political issue other than personal hatred for the man and his views.

In the past Moderators have encouraged us to bypss such posts which I did the first time it appeared, as it would seem others chose to do as well, and the thread essentially lay dormant, yet was still fully visible and accessible. When the repost appeared, I questioned what seemed to be its inflammatory intent by examining its contents.

It was never my intent to police the board or undermine the ultimate authority of the Moderators, as my gab board question was rhetorical. If you say it's political, then it's political and I stand corrected. I do hope opining that it seemed inflammatory and apolitical to me personally did not violate any forum guidelines. I thought this was acceptable since I had recently seen others doing the same thing, such as these

and in numerous others further down regarding the Trayvon Martin case where claiming it is not political has been elaborated into its own art form by partisans supporting George Zimmerman by trying to make the case disappear.

I agree that the poster is trying to be inflammatory. In this situation, it is just a job dispute between employer and employee and does not impact anything except to give Olberman haters glee. Whatever makes them happy.

Gleaning unbridled joy out of hate for an individual such as Olbermann or the president is incomprehensible to me, but I suppose the bottom feeders are accustomed to gobbling up whatever crumbs drift their way.

Many issues have come up regarding political figures/commentators/news reporters, etc that talks about their personal life (i.e. Sarah Palin, her children, Michelle, Rush Limbaugh, Obama's children, etc). I would say if they are a political figure/commentator, etc it is okay to discuss as it has been done in the past. Individual posters can either read or bypass.

Not a problem with what you wrote and I never took your post as policing or "undermining the ultimate authority" :-) (I smiled at that as I don't think of being Moderator like that, I just read messages and if people are going after others I try and stop that or if something is way off political topic I ask them to go to the correct board). I didn't take your post that way at all. I just wrote that to let posters know that if I do read something and it doesn't belong on the board I'll let them know. I read your two links you provided and I probably should have written the same thing to them, but a lot of it other posters are working out explaining why they feel issues belong on the board. I do believe this is a topic for the politics board because Mr. Olberman is a political commentator and what has happened will be affecting his show and the people who listen to him.

I would say if the subject matter involves anyone in politics/news/commentators, etc then it's worthy of discussion here.
