Remembering that these days the number of voters willing to identify themselves as Republicans has dropped to 1/3, a new Pew poll shows that 64% of THEM support immigration reform. Was I right, or was I right? I hope. Uhuh, about what, you say? :)
Pressure to be the normal Americans that conservatives need to see themselves as. Pressure for change not just from the leadership to stop causing trouble, but from within themselves--that subversive need to CONFORM.To be among THE group, the respectable ones.
Pop Bush's urge for people to return to a "kinder and gentler" America has been taking a long time to play out, but it's looking like, as divisiveness and hatemongering finally go out of style again, its practitioners may be realizing that they've become outliers of society. And don't like it.

Unfortunately, word of this got out ahead of the commercial (I saw it on Rachel Maddow last night), and if they're not 100% clueless on this (instead of just 98%) they'll take a hint and bury it instead.
This is while Pub politicians are being encouraged to, among other things, not refer to Hispanics as if illegals and the rest were all the same. Imagine people who have to told that?
