Partisan disdain for scientific data gathering notwithstanding, there ARE ways to measure this shameful phenomenon.

As to your rhetorical question about "why should I." If the GOP's SECOND general election demographics defeat is not as important to them as preserving their racist base factions' voter base that is wreaking havoc down upon their primary process and it's more moderate candidates (the recent failed GOP presidential candidate who made a fool out of himself with his lurching between far right and party center being a perfect case in point), the party, the voters and our political system at large, then by all means keep up the good work and continue cultivating racial division and hatred. Until the GOP deals a full deck in this game, the rest of the opposing coalitions will be more than happy to deliver more "proof" that this is a pox upon our nation that seeks to preserve their endangered, soon-to-be-extinct dying breeds.

[ In Reply To ..]Strange as that can be to imagine, a significant percentage of people are very lacking in insight into their own behavior. There's an extremely strong overlap of this group with those who are excessively self-righteous, unable to evaluate themselves relative to society as a whole and seeing themselves as better than they actually are in comparison. By definition, they CAN'T be bigots, even when it is very strong in them, because convention has it that bigotry is bad and they are "the good people."
They are also very lacking in ability to recognize hypocrisy and inconsistencies when they are their own and remarkably good at compartmentalizing conflicting information away in a locked closet in the brain so it doesn't bother them. Needless to say, this can be a problem in trying to find a meeting of the minds in political discussions.
BTW, while we're not talking most people here, we all know lots of this sort of person. We may think some of them are wonderful because, in some respects relating to their immediate, communal world, like being a good friend or a wonderful grandmother, they very much can be.

He had such a wonderful opportunity to bring the races together when he was elected. He chose to divide instead. Bringing the "races" together is precisely what he did to win the election, and he did a brilliantly successful job of cobbling together a coalition of minorities that embodied large percentages of white women and some of their more progressive male partners. Once assembled, the coalition then stood united against MoneyMachine politics, their now discredited managers (Karl Rove, Koch Bros come to mind) and their expensive local agendas that sought to suppress the vote. They turned that effort around and forcefully employed it to motivate their get-the-vote-out efforts. They won. You lost. TWICE. Go figure.

Last time around, many more whites stood up and joined minority coalitions back in the 60s and 70s to address the institutionalized racism that had historically plagued our nation. Much progress has been made on that front but, by no means, is that effort a done deal. Evidently, the racism that rips our social and political fabric to shreds is a more formidable foe.
Social and political marginalization of these groups, INCLUDING black-on-white and reverse cultural bigotries, is the way to go, but it takes generations to tackle the challenge effectively. That's why aging foot soldiers from those days fight so hard to remind those who came behind us, who never directly witnessed those movements and have only experienced those dark days as a reading assignment in American History and Civics classes, not to drop the ball.
Actually, we've made tremendous progress in my lifetime from '50s abuses - to a black president and will make more. sm

What doesn't change is human nature. Although bigotry seems to be a pretty natural component of the authoritarian follower personality type, they tend to think as their leaders tell them, so more sensible, less bigoted leaders (whenever they show up) will mean a whole lot less overt nastiness. Heck I could draw up a map put a bunch of dots on it and say all those places had racial tweets. However, what I asked for and still am looking for are the actual tweets. What is is that people said, not what some group out of the UK or anywhere for that matter said.
Just a bit of proof would be helpful to back up your claims. Not saying I don't believe there are any, just saying I like proof. Kind of that investigator in me thing. :-)

I saw an interview with a pretty blonde-haired white young woman who tweeted using the the "N" word. She said although she tweeted that, she didn't think she was racist and then gave a big smile. If you want proof so much, then research it yourself.
