Healthcare: With O-Care an obvious crashing ill-conceived failure

Posted: Nov 12, 2015

The overlords who tell their liberal minions what to believe (which is far less difficult than it would be, save for the public education system) want them to think that conservatives don't want people to have healthcare.

This, of course, is such utter nonsense that you'd think the minions would be able to spot the obvious flaws in such propaganda right from the git-go, but (again, thanks to the public education system) it seems that even such simple rationation is beyond their capabilities.

I really do feel sorry for people who never learned how to THINK RATIONALLY and who, instead, spend their time spreading propaganda while imagining this to be a form of logical argumentation.

If you're repeating stuff that you haven't personally critically analyzed (and you KNOW who you are), the chances are more than excellent that you're just vomiting back up a bunch of crap that you swallowed while you were drunk at some political orgy.

Let's just take one question that exposes the liberal fallacy:  Why in the world would ANY conservative capitalist - regardless of how utterly self-interested they may be - prefer to have a sickly labor force, with the enormous attendant costs of sick time and absences, rather than employees who show up every day, healthy, ready and able to work and thereby to make profits for the capitalist?

The answer is obvious, and there isn't a liberal in the world who can rebut that single, simple question.  Regard conservatives in the most crass light you can fire up, and you still don't have an answer.

Of course, the reality is that conservatives are hardly so crass and whether liberals like to think so or not, most conservatives do care about the welfare of their fellow human beings...but let's not get into that for fear of exploding some liberal brains.

So, my first question is, when are the liberal minions finally going to rise up against the garbage that your liberal overlords are serving up as filet mignon?  It's okay to be liberal (I'm liberal on some things) or conservative, but all of us should at the very least demand truthfulness.

My second question is, having shown that everyone has an interest in a healthy population, how can we come together to achieve this?  The private carrier system worked well for some, but not for others.  Obamacare is an obvious disaster, with even more people losing coverage and now, we find, healthcare costs rising even faster than under the private system.

Incidentally, one other thing:  I do not believe that America should allow itself to be the healthcare "brain-drain" of the world.  We have lots of people practicing medicine here who SHOULD be practicing medicine in their own countries and making those populations healthier.  It's not in our interest whatsoever to bring them here to practice medicine when every year we turn down thousands of perfectly qualified premedical students on the basis that "we only have so many positions in our medical schools".

Build more prisons if necessary, and build more medical schools, and leave the Indian, Arabic, Filipino, Egyptian and other doctors at home to care for their OWN POPULATIONS.  THIS IS WHAT IS IN OUR LONG-TERM INTEREST!!

Single-payer (government) - uh, I think we already have lots of evidence about that.  For-profit insurance companies, ditto.

There must be a third way if we can just come together - liberals and conservatives - and find it, but one thing's for sure.  We will never do so while liberal minions continue to endorse the absurd notion that conservatives don't want the population to be healthy.

The Republican Overlord Plan - fairly simple

If you are a minion who is not pulling the overlords capitalistic weight, it is preferable you just die and quit being a draw on the minion work force.

going down next year. I do think that we should eventually transition to single-payer Medicare for all though.

The only real reform that works is one that improves HEALTH CARE - while holding down costs. Obamacare of course

[ In Reply To ..]
does none of this. That's not the primary objective which is single payer (Gruber admitted it) and to maximize government control, regiment Americans, and expand the culture of dependency.

I always liked using an HSA. the concept is really good because it is 'health insurance' much like auto insurance. Insurance is money, VOLUNTARILY paid into a pool of money to cover certain, unknown future events, like heart attack or hitting a tree. Neither one covers an oil change nor free eye glasses. The more that is covered, the higher the premium. Originally insurance was what we used to call major medical or catastrophic. It was never meant to cover doctor's visits, etc.

Another thing about HSAs is that you have a real incentive to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Simple, free market principles at work. Your money, your choice.

That's the simple truth of universal healthcare. - You are paying everyone's premiums

[ In Reply To ..]
in a sense, no matter how healthy they are. No some liberals are going to try to turn this into an emotional issue rather than an actuarial one. We already had plans in place to take care of that.

But the goal as stated is single payer, not improved healthcare.

The Affordable Care Act was a life-saver for me - Otherwise Uninsurable

[ In Reply To ..]
I couldn't get insurance before the Affordable Care Act made it possible.

Thank a taxpayer. What about HSAs? That's you money - and you have a say how it's spent.

By the way, Ms. Snippy, I AM a tax-payer and I support Obamacare - It works for me
[ In Reply To ..]
Don't attack me with your attitude. I am a tax-payer. I support the Affordable Care Act. It works very well for me when the Republicans came up with NOTHING. This is addressed to the person who with a very superior attitude told me to 'Thank a Taxpayer.'

I AM a tax payer.

Wouldn't it make more sense to keep your money and spend on what - you want, rather than what the gvt

thinks you should have?

Oh yeah, thanks for the insults. Good thing I'm not offended by everything like the left.
Will your HSA cover you if you need...sm - Alice

heart bypass surgery or cancer surgery/chemotherapy? I thought HSAs were just to cover what basic health insurance doesn't.

Obamacare is just Medicaid. Plain and simple. - NM

Before the ACA one serious illness and I could have lost everything I owned - Thank God for Health Insurance

[ In Reply To ..]
I am thankful to God for health insurance.

Maximum Coverage now actually does keep me from bankrupcy - One Serious Illness no longer a financial threat

[ In Reply To ..]
I feared every single day that this might be the day that I was diagnosed with a serious illness that would bankrupt me. I had what was thought to be top-of-the-line BC&BS policy. When they withdrew my policy and offered the same thing to me again at TRIPLE the premium, I had to consider whether I should do it or risk bankruptcy should I become ill. The MAXIMUM coverage was not enough to even cover a major illness at all, so even with it, before ACA, I could easily have lost everything. Now they've changed it so you actually do have proper coverage even if you, like me, never really thought to look at the maximum benefits and assumed that it would cover what was needed.

Healthcare's Bipartisan Problem. Almost Half Of Healthcare SpendingJan 13, 2017
healthiest half of the population consumes only 3% of health care costs. The only alternative would appear to be taxpayer subsidies. It is next to impossible, politically, to take away freebees once in place. Income redistribution continues to increase. The 2010 health law, also known as Obamacare, forced insurers to sell coverage to anyone, at the same price, regardless of their risk of incurring big claims. That provision was popular. Not so were rules requiring nearly everyone to have ins ...
