Yep. Played the USA for years, received billions if not trillions of $$ in aid and now goes against the US and releases these prisoners. They've been negotiating with the Taliban for months in the open, but how long behind closed doors?
If there's any money still earmarked for his government, let's stop payment NOW. His security forces and police were being PAID BY US. Let them deal with it themselves. The Taliban will take over that country but if that's the way Karzai wants to play it, let him. Who knows? The Taliban may blame Karzai for OSL being killed and punish him for it. Would that be karma? I only feel sorry for the citizens of that country that are caught in the middle of this.
I also think that we should withdraw our troops immediately. At least in Iraq, the government was trying to become democratic and needed our help, which we should have kept giving to them, but Obama left the Iraqis holding the bag by withdrawing immediately without prior notice and look at the country today. In Afghanistan, Obama gave notice but still wanted to keep troops there after 2014, but with Karzai releasing these prisoners, it will definitely be too dangerous for our troop to stay there now, so Obama should order ALL troops home immediately.
Yes, I'm pi$$$$ed.
KABUL — The Afghan government on Thursday released 65 suspected Taliban militants from prison, ignoring repeated and vehement protests from the U.S. military, which fears that the men are likely to return the battlefield.
The release was a starkly public illustration of Washington’s growing inability to influence the actions of President Hamid Karzai’s government and is certain to further poison U.S.-Afghan relations, threatening the prospect of an orderly withdrawal of U.S. combat troops by the end of the year.
