I was following the logic of one who refuses to credit Obama for the successful military action. You made the personal attack that I was a "self-appointed" something or other. Mine was response to a thought process; yours was personal attack.

I read all of the flydom posts today and now yours. I would appreciate if you could explain how her Carter deduction is an attack. It is pure logic, impersonal and was applied to presidents of both parties who have been caught up in comparable situations.
If we are to accept your premise, then please explain how the Oz post, the choice of the word pontificate, and the expressed doubts backtalk play into this context. If this is not personal attack, then what is it and how does is relate to the subject of the thread?

As I stated before...you really need to get over yourself. If you were half as intelligent as you want to project yourself to be, you would not feel the need to try to impress all of us with your wit and yes...pontification.
Why do I use the word pontification?
Pontification - The act of speaking out for the purpose of hearing onself speak.
I think the reason I use it should now be self-explanatory.

No, I never tire of the hoohah, yes I talk like this all the time, dont glaze any eyes over on account of the company I keep (well-read, educated, intelligent political activists from all parties, among others), have no need to impress anyone here or elsewhere, and am no pontif (far, far from it).
I have answered all your questions, now suppose you take a stab at answering mine, which you have not done here. If I am left to divine a self-explanation, based on the close-but-no-cigar definition you provided, then I would have to logically conclude that your previous posts were in fact nothing more than run-of-the-mill personal attacks so typical of the gotcha gang who could not conduct a real politial discussion if their lives depended on it.
Again, you pontificate....look it up, it does - not just refer to the pontif.
[ In Reply To ..]
If you were as intelligent as you like to project that you are, you would know that.
As to the eyes glazing over...I am sure yours don't. It is the people who have to listen to you, if you indeed speak like this to people...THEIR eyes glaze over.
A real political discussion? Let's talk about Obama's handling of the deficit...why we are still in Iraq when he promised out in 180 days. Why he promised a transparent administration that is anything but. Why he said he had more important things to do and the first one was Oprah? Why he would propose a 3 trillion dollar budget on top of a 14 trillion dollar deficit? Why he said there would be no lobbyists in his administration and it is filled with them?
That should get you a start, if you can do it without pontificating that is. And I seriously hope your life NEVER depends on a real political discussion.

Were all these LEADERS "disturbed?" - Researcher

Rockefeller, Fred Gates, Plato, various Senators and Congressmen, et al ALL wrote of and discussed a WORLDWIDE CONSPIRACY. And you are suggesting that they are/were all "disturbed?"
It appears that the ONLY thing you "anti-conspiracy" mainstreamers can come up with is AD HOMINEM ATTACKS. That's because you have NO salient points to refute the EVIDENCE!
''The individual is handicapped by coming face to face with a conspiracy so monstrous he cannot believe it exists.'' J. Edgar Hoover
"Most people, including ourselves, live in a world of relative ignorance. We are even comfortable with that ignorance, because it is all we know. When we first start facing truth, the process may be frightening, and many people run back to their old lives. But if you continue to seek truth, you will eventually be able to handle it better. In fact, you want more! It's true that many people around you now may think you are weird or even a danger to society, but you don't care. Once you've tasted the truth, you won't ever want to go back to being ignorant!" â Plato, The Republic
"When a well-packaged web of lies has been sold gradually to the masses over generations, the truth will seem utterly preposterous and its speaker a raving lunatic." Dresden James
"If it is not in the media... it did not happen. If it did not happen, but is in the media... we believe it has happened." Charles T. Tart
"The people yield themselves with perfect docility to our molding hands." ~ Frederick Gates, chairman of the Rockefeller-created General Education Board, 1902.
"I believe that if the people of this nation fully understood what Congress has done to them over the last 49 years, they would move on Washington; they would not wait for an election....It adds up to a preconceived plan to destroy the economic and social independence of the United States!" -- George W. Malone, U.S. Senator (Nevada), speaking before Congress in 1957.
The Rothschilds controlled the entire banking system of Europe, and gained control of The Bank Of England in 1814. His family was the real driving force behind the Federal Reserve.
"Let me issue and control a nation's money and I care not who writes the laws." Mayer Amschel Rothschild (1744-1812), founder of the House of Rothschild.
More recently, Richard McKenna, former President of Midlands Bank of England said, âThose that create and issue the money and credit direct the policies of government and hold in their hands the destiny of the people.â
"It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and money system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning." Henry Ford, founder of the Ford Motor Company.
"The death of Lincoln was a disaster for the western world. There was no man in the United States great enough to wear his boots, and the bankers went anew to grab the riches. I fear that foreign bankers with their craftiness and tortuous tricks will entirely control the exuberant riches of America and use it to systematically corrupt civilisation." Otto von Bismark (1815-1898), German Chancellor, after the Lincoln assassination.
"The depression was the calculated 'shearing' of the public by the World Money powers, triggered by the planned sudden shortage of supply of call money in the New York money market....The One World Government leaders and their ever-close bankers have now acquired full control of the money and credit machinery of the U.S. via the creation of the privately-owned Federal Reserve Bank." Curtis Dall, FDR's son-in-law as quoted in his book, My Exploited Father-in-Law
"I am concerned for the security of our great nation; not so much because of any threat from without, but because of the insidious forces working from within." - General Douglas Macarthur
"Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it." - President Woodrow Wilson
President Woodrow Wilson in 1916: "I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated governments in the civilized world. No longer a government by free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men." (President Woodrow Wilson signed the 1913 Federal Reserve Act).
"The real truth of the matter is, as you and I know, that a financial element in the large centers has owned the government of the U.S. since the days of Andrew Jackson."-- U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt in a letter written Nov. 21, 1933 to Colonel E. Mandell House.

"Today the path of total dictatorship in the United States can be laid by strictly legal means, unseen and unheard by the Congress, the President, or the people. Outwardly we have a Constitutional government. We have operating within our government and political system, another body representing another form of government - a bureaucratic elite." Senator William Jenner, 1954
"The drive of the Rockefellers and their allies is to create a one-world government combining supercapitalism and Communism under the same tent, all under their control.... Do I mean conspiracy? Yes I do. I am convinced there is such a plot, international in scope, generations old in planning, and incredibly evil in intent." Congressman Larry P. McDonald, 1976
"In the next century, nations as we know it will be obsolete; all states will recognize a single, global authority." Strobe Talbot, President Clinton's Deputy Secretary of State, as quoted in Time, July 20, 1992.
âWe will have a world government whether you like it or not. The only question is whether that government will be achieved by conquest or consent." International Banker and CFR member Paul Warburg, February 17, 1950, speaking before the United States Senate.
"The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is the American Branch of a society which originated in England ... (and) ... believes national boundaries should be obliterated and one-world rule established."-- Professor of History Carroll Quigley, Georgetown University, in his book Tragedy and Hope. (David Rockefeller is Chairman of the CFR and founded the Trilateral Commission in the early 1970s).
"The Council on Foreign Relations is âthe establishment.â Not only does it have influence and power in key decision-making positions at the highest levels of government to apply pressure from above, but it also announces and uses individuals and groups to bring pressure from below, to justify the high-level decisions for converting the U.S. from a sovereign Constitutional Republic into a servile member state of a one-world dictatorship." Former Congressman John Rarick 1971
"The Trilateral Commission is intended to be the vehicle for multinational consolidation of the commercial and banking interests by seizing control of the political government of the United States. The Trilateral Commission represents a skillful, coordinated effort to seize control and consolidate the four centers of power-- Political, Monetary, Intellectual, and Ecclesiastical."-- U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater from his 1964 book No Apologies

The Jewish Tribune of New York, on October 28, 1927, stated; "Masonry is based on Judaism. Eliminate the teachings of Judaism from the Masonic Ritual and what is left?" The well known rabbi, Isaac Wise, was emphatic when he concluded: "Freemasonry is a Jewish establishment, whose history, grades, official appointments, passwords, and explanations are Jewish from beginning to end." In Morals and Dogma, authored by the late Sovereign Grand Commander of the Scottish Rite, Albert Pike, we discover the revelation that the Jewish cabala is the very basis of Masonic practice and ritual.
"Today Americans would be outraged if U.N. troops entered Los Angeles to restore order; tomorrow they will be grateful. This is especially true if they were told there was an outside threat from beyond, whether real or promulgated, that threatened our very existence. It is then that all peoples of the world will plead with world leaders to deliver them from this evil. The one thing every man fears is the unknown. When presented with this scenario, individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well being granted to them by their world government." -- Henry Kissinger speaking at Evian, France, May 21, 1992 Bilderbergers meeting. Unbeknownst to Kissinger, his speech was taped by a Swiss delegate to the meeting.
Sept. 23, 1994 â The globalists realize that as more and more people begin to wake up to what's going on, they have only a limited amount of time in which to implement their policies. Speaking at the United Nations Ambassadors' dinner, David Rockefeller remarks: âThis present window of opportunity, during which a truly peaceful and interdependent world order might be built, will not be open for too long.â [Notice that he did not question if world order would come - only whether it would arrive peacefully.] He believes: âWe are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the New World Order.â
"Some even believe we (the Rockefeller family) are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as 'internationalists' and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure---one world, if you will. If that's the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it."--David Rockefeller, Memoirs, page 405

to think that it is wise... as well as rational. Seeing as how the rational thinkers seem to be outnumbered on here as of late, figured I'd chime in and show my support. You're not alone.
The irrational and paranoid will have a field day with this whether or not the pictures are released. Releasing the pictures will do nothing but expose people (remember... if it's on the net, our kids can and will find them) to gruesome images that we really don't need to see as well as provide an image to OBL's supporters of their slain leader to cause outrage. Nor will releasing the photos provide any comfort to relatives/loved ones of 9-11 victims.
It's over. OBL is dead. With or without photo evidence, you can either believe it or have fun spotting him at the supermarket hanging out with Elvis.

For starters, so-called homegrown extremists have already crawled out of the woodwork stateside and been planting suspicious packages all over the place since Monday (see link). Since none of these were found to be dangerous so far, what do you think the intended message was behind these acts?
Once photos of OBL with left eye socket blown out, brain matter scattered here and there, chest blown wide open, more blood, guts and gore reach the hands of Islamic terrorists far and wide, what do you suppose their reaction would be? He was their most revered leader. He is dead at the hands of a US direct attack and even in the absence of the body is being martyred in the minds of the most fundamental Moslem extremists and known terrorists as we speak. How do you think they would express the outrage those photos would undoubtedly evoke? Hint: They won't pick up their marbles and go home.
It does not take a condescending elitist to grasp this concept. Unbelievable anyone would even have to ask this question.

how dare you presume to speak on behalf of 9/11 families? I saw an interview with a woman last night whose son was one of those passengers on Flight 93 who helped prevent its crashing into the Pentagon. She expressed joy and relief over death of Bin Laden. When asked if she felt the president should release the photos, she said she had no need to see the pictures. She would not speculate on whether or not they should be released and said she had complete confidence in the decision the president would make.
I have a friend whose brother (a first responder) died in Tower II. I spoke to her yesterday and she said she was afraid to look at the photos and believes that seeing more carnage could trigger the nightmares she had for 3 years after the attack. In the 9+ years since the attack, she has never once presumed to speak for any other 9/11 family, only her own, even though she has attended 9/11 family church, political and social events along with a 9/11 PTSD support group that at one time had more than 70 members. She has always told me that each family and each member experienced the tragedy in different ways and that she does not feel she has the right to speak for her mother, father or younger brother, only herself.
It very well may be that some among them would receive comfort from the photos, and I do not take issue with that, but I find the phrase irrational thinkers to be highly offensive. I am certain Obama did not take this decision lightly. No matter what he decides, there will be those who do not agree. His primary concern in this case is national security, which I believe all 9/11 families support without a doubt.

I am so proud to be an American and live in a country where we don't display and gloat over dead bodies. We truly are better than that.

I had already been wondering how to avoid seeing them if they had been released. I really didn't have a strong opinion about whether they should be or not, but I am so relieved that they are not. There are those who would have an unhealthy desire to gloat over them. Our country is better than that.

It seems to me that the majority of people on this board posting in the politics forum are very far right. I'm trying to figure that out.
The fact is that if President Obama had walked to the microphone Sunday night carrying Bin Laden's head on a platter these same people would be complaining and skeptical about whether or not it was really his head. Amusing and scary at the same time.

So, please tell us, did Plato, Fred Gates, Rockefeller, and the various and sundry Congressmen and Senators quoted below also suffer from "multiple personality disorder" and "paranoia?" Because they ALL discussed a MAJOR, WORLDWIDE CONSPIRACY.
Please refute these FACTS with something better than lame ad hominem attacks.
"The invisible Money Power is working to control and enslave mankind. It financed Communism, Fascism, Marxism, Zionism, Socialism. All of these are directed to making the United States a member of a World Government ..." - American Mercury magazine 1957.
"In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way." - Franklin D. Roosevelt
"The world is governed by very different personages from what is imagined by those who are not behind the scenes." -- British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli in 1844.
"By the time you become the leader of a country, someone else makes all the decisions. You may find you can get away with Virtual Presidents, Virtual Prime Ministers, and Virtual Everything." - Bill Clinton
"The order's working and involvement in America is immense. The real rulers in Washington are invisible and exercise power from behind the scenes." - Felix Frankfurter (U.S Supreme Court Justice)
"Fifty men have run America, and that's a high figure." Joseph Kennedy, father of JFK, in the July 26th, 1936 issue of The New York Times.
"I want to tell you something very clear: Don't worry about American pressure on Israel. We, the Jewish people control America, and the Americans know it." Ariel Sharon to Shimon Peres, October 3, 2001, as reported on Kol Yisrael radio.
