Always helpful to paint the whole picture. - Details emerge in
[ In Reply To ..]
distraction dustup.
Ah, the wonders of modern technology. Audio enhancement reveals that the voice of the slur-slinging aide is female, a detail (omitted from the original sensational reporting) that tends to change the complexion and direction of this story considerably, though I would not put it past the Whitman camp to find a way to keep that sexist angle alive in spite of it all. It will be interesting to watch them invent female-on-female sexism, then make it stick. The remark in question is at around 1:50 seconds into the record (see first link), although it is helpful to listen from the point where the discussion amongst the aides and Brown commences, to get a sense of voice patterns and distinctions. The female repeated the word twice.
Another curious omission from initial reports is the fact that if Whitman was so offended at the comment, why did it take a full 5 weeks for this to surface in the media? The conversation took place BEFORE Labor Day. Surely, the timing could not have had anything to do with the very deep doo-doo she was up to her neck in regarding lie, after lie after lie about that undocumented worker flap, or could it? That story isn't going anywhere anytime soon. I believe the latest wrinkle is that keen interest in seeing the Social Security Administration release follow-up letters sent to Whitman regarding her longtime housekeeper's bogus ID.
So let's see now, we have an isolated private brainstorming conversation scandal versus days and days and days of calculated and deliberate lying to the media (and the rest of the country) over nine years of hypocrisy. Which one do you think will most likely influence voter choice?
Oh, and by the way, all 23 chapters of the California National Organization of Women endorse Brown. Guess they took exception to Whitman spokeswoman Sarah Pompei calling the use of the term "an insult to both Meg Whitman and to the women of California." Seems NOW is impressed with Brown's record on women's issues.
Whitman's camp responded in kind to the endorsement: "Meg Whitman is a pro-choice woman who was ranked among the world's most accomplished women in business," said Whitman campaign manager Jillian Hasner. "She's now running to become the first woman governor in California's history, and on the same day that it's reported Jerry Brown's campaign called her a 'whore,' the National Organization [for] Women endorses him. It's official: NOW is a partisan organization." NO! You don't meant it! An organization of women devoted to securing equality and civil rights for themselves are not all flocking to the GOP, those tireless foot soldiers for minority and civil rights? What a shock!
Call me crazy, but isn't a bit sexist to EXPECT, i.e. take for granted, that Whitman had that endorsement in her back pocket BECAUSE SHE IS A WOMAN? Surprise, surprise! Women vote with their brains, not their genitals. I suppose those caught up in the euphoria of burying one scandal with another will find a way to refrain from calling them all a bunch of, well....you know.

[ In Reply To ..]
(especially the very clear enhancement provided in the link) it becomes apparent that he was talking out loud to himself (brainstorming) for most of the conversation, only occasionally responding directly to the aides. He eventually decided to focus the ad on the fact that Whitman was cutting secret backroom deals in exchange for endorsements. He never even acknowledged the whore suggestion. In fact, it is not clear if he even heard it since the female FELT THE NEED TO REPEAT the singular word again.
It sounded more like the aides were talking amongst themselves in his presence, responding to the thoughts he was broadcasting out loud. Unless his brain travels at the speed of light, he had already decided to make an ad about Whitmans deal-cutting a split-second after THE FEMALE said the word the second time. As a matter of fact, he goes on to explain what he was going to use in the ad. Absent from the explanation was the word whore. So sorry to disappoint you.
He is polling ahead of Whitman on account of the undocumented worker thing. You have to ask yourself WHY ON EARTH would he even consider putting that word in an ad that would be broadcast nationwide? Don't be so ridiculous.
I notice you have no comments on the omission(s) of the fact(s) that the voice is female in initial reports, the 5-week delay in Whitmans taking offense to the comment, the subsequent free-fall hypocrisy scandal and the timing of this press release, the attempts to gin this up into a sexist controversy, or the NOW endorsement of Brown. What a surprise.

The "undocumented worker thing" was his scheme too. These people will do ANYTHING to get elected. Both sides do it, but the left is vicious and nothing seems too low for them -sickening. BTW, that is his team of people. He must be so proud, LOL.

I see the irrefutable evidence of recorded reality - has spurred some drive-by denials.
[ In Reply To ..]
Does defending controversies, crumbling under the weight of raw logic, always call you to action like this? Do you ever stop and think, if only for a fleeting moment, how self-defeating that pursuit is?
Enhanced audio tends to make this clear as a bell. - Doubtful you even dared to listen to it,
[ In Reply To ..]
so don't try to lecture me about selective hearing. Speaking of typical, in predictable wingnut fashion, when confronted with such things as facts, videos, audio and other truth-telling spin-free media, you resort to personal insults before cutting and running because of their devastating effect on unfounded claims and snake-oil political arguments.
You also have gone from the ridiculous to the sublimely absurd with your suggestion that the now highly publicized, well documented hypocrisy dilemma Whitman faces by her own hand and mouth was Browns doing. Brown did not look the camera square in its eye and repeatedly lie his backside off. He also did not fail to verify legal status of an undocumented worker for 9 years, all the while spouting anti-immigrant dogma, thus becoming the poster child of GOP hypocrisy. GMAB.
Well, I listened to it, and as usual... left is full of garbage.nm - Peace

To try to turn this around and simply accuse others of doing a drive-by. It was a BAD conversation to be caught on tape. These are people that work with/for Brown. It looks really bad him having this conversation. Whitman will probably be quiet about it now. I suggest you do yourself a favor and do the same. Arguing this is pointless. Brown SHOULD apologize. If he had any class, he would have told his aide to not use such language when referring to the opponent, whether on tape or not, but he didnt. Guys like him are sleazy, no surprise.
His secretary, Gloria All-Red should also apologize. nm - LOL

[ In Reply To ..]
the phoney sexism controversy rather moot (as did the NOW endorsement) and that the so-called offense taken by Camp Whitman was delayed by 5 weeks, yet conveniently timed for release 8 or 9 days into a runaway train hypocrisy scandal.
Speaking of hypcrisy, all this indignation coming from the smear mongers who base almost their ENTIRE campaign strategy on name-calling, and unspeakably hate-filled slurs against the POTUS and his supporters (as they have been doing since the moment he was sworn in) is utterly impotent. Ever heard of the boy who cried wolf? You guys get outraged every time Obama takes another breath. This is a zero-sum game you are playing in terms of credibility, or don't you get that?
Had you listened, you would know that Brown was basically talking to himself while people in the room had conversation around him. Makes no difference whether you are able to hear it or admit it, since this is plainly what occurred. When you are talking out loud while others are talking (in this case it sounded like at least 3-4 or more other people, all speaking at once) just how much of everyone else's voices do you hear over your own? Note the sound wave levels on the enhanced recording's print-out. Brown's was the loudest among them, another clue that tells us his own voice and the other aides essentially drowned out the female's comment. This is called evidence.
BTW, Brown DID apology to those who took offense, despite the fact is highly unlikely he even heard the comment, since the female felt the need to repeat it almost simultaneously with his comments about what he would be using in the ad.
Now, suppose you address what no one so far has been willing to touch with a 10-foot pole here, that being the denial as described above, and the 800-pound gorilla in the room...the multiple hypocrisy issues the Fox PAC is trying so hard to bury.
HAHAHA... Its his own wife using the word! - Wow, classy lady. LOL. Be proud, Jerry.

proof whatsoever that Whitman did ANYTHING wrong here, yet in typical predictable liberal fashion, you turn that one around too to make it HER fault instead of the illegal alien criminal trying with Gloria to get another 15 mins of fame (probably working with Brown). Whitman went through an employment agency and had the lady's SS card. What else would YOU have done yourself? Its really sickening the lengths your side goes.... over and over again. So, please, the word hypocrite should not be spewed from you since it describes YOU.
