Some of our posts were deleted and I just wanted to answer one specific question you asked me before you had to leave. You asked me if I would be angry and/or upset if, God forbid, President Obama was assassinated.
I will never condone, encourage, or rejoice in the assassination of our president. To wish death upon our president is extremist behavior and I do not condone those who called for Bush's death nor do I condone those who call for Obama's death.
I know I own a hand gun and a rifle or 2 as well as other "weapons" but I am not a violent person. I'm a very passionate and opionated person but I would never threaten and/or hurt anyone to try and get my point across and that is where the loons on both sides take matters WAY too far.
I see no reason why people can't own guns. It is my personal opinion that if you take guns away from the law-abiding citizens, the criminals and crooks will still get them. I don't believe it is overly smart to have rallies and encourage everyone to carry a gun because they can because the chances are...there could possibly be a moron or two in the group who could do some serious damage, but people carrying guns in general does not bother me as long as they have a permit, have taken safety lessons, etc. Just my 2 cents on the whole weapon thing.
The bottom line is, violence is on both sides and I don't condone it from either extreme...whether it be right or left. I just wish that the REAL reason for the tea party could be looked at instead of the crazies who have obviously taken things too far. That is all I'm saying.
;a person who chooses "Trigger Happy" as a moniker if he/she owns any weapons, and the answer turned out to be affirmative, which, indeed is her right to own firearms. Nobody is arguing against that.
As far as my other question, she answered it, and that gave me some renewed hope that not all Tea Partiers wish death to our president.
With all the media attention given to the armed Tea Partiers who wish death to the president, I think my questions were fair, and the answers were affirmative -- not your answers, but the answers of "Trigger Happy."
Methinks she doeth protest too much.
Every normal, anti-violence American has every reason to watch their backs.
Militias are being more and more associated with the Tea Party.
What's astonishing to me is that the anniversary of McVeigh's Oklahoma City bombing is coming up, a true homegrown terrorist, and this is the action Oklahoma is considering. Yet another state I cross off my list of places I'd like to visit someday. Ironically, ALL of them are in the South.
In fact, Rachel Maddow is having a special coming up of the McVeigh tapes on Monday, April 19, on MSNBC, in HIS very own words, not hers. That should be enough to make anyone fearful for their well being.
explains perfectly just WHY I asked the questions I asked and got blasted for it. You are much more eloquent than I, but I refer any reader who wants to know WHY I would ask such questions to read your first paragraph.
The rest of your post was dead on, as well!
Thank you.
I'm not obsessed with violence, and to suggest that a liberal wants to kill President Obama is beyond ridiculous. It seems they take their own party's actions and then flip them around to make it about Democrats. I especially like (NOT!) the repeated mantra, "Obama lies" that litters this board and the other drive-bys that they post, as well.
I asked my questions regarding guns and reactions to something bad happening to Obama simply because I'm trying to figure out which category these teabaggers fit into, how far this violence and obvious hatred will go and whether I should take this group seriously regarding violence. If they admit to being a Teapartier, then I'm curious as to how many weapons they own and how they would feel if something bad happened to President Obama and whether I should fear for my life and the lives of others. Only they know if they gave honest answers, but some of the indignant offense that has been taken does make me wonder.
You wrote: "I do not agree with his policies or the way he is running the country, but he is our president for now."
This is the first time I've ever seen a conservative concede that "he is our president for now." Looking up and down this board, all I see is Obama bashing.
I'm trying to look at the real Tea Party. That's why I posed the questions I did.
Thank you for responding.
