He is a sick wild card, and, as with most of politics, it, unfortunately, will be well after his effects that the common people will even begin to realize what he has done...unless, of course, it is nuclear, here. I don't think most of you will even care if it is nuclear in the Mideast...the same way you don't care about civilians and families in the countries we fight within and bomb. The U.S. is nothing to be proud of, unless you groove on power...you've got that, but fail in morality.

Military ranked officers are being called up, back, moved, reassigned...and a lot of movement at air force bases, jets flying. And,of course, the publicized Navy USS Vinson towards Korea. Chinese are amassing at border with Korea. Will Korea test nuke for Saturday celebration?

my mindset during the Cuban missile crisis. Back then I was only 12, but found myself not able to think about the future at all, only the present. Suddenly schoolwork wasn't important. Why do homework if we're not going to be around much longer? I was never able to fully shake that lack of belief in a future for humankind or our planet. College seemed like a useless expense, even though it was now the Vietnam war era, because having grown up watching clips of atom bombs exploding, and ducking for cover under school desks, I just assumed that sooner or later the Vietnamese, or allies of theirs, would end up nuking us. Or the Russians. It was always some perceived threat that was being highlighted on the news every night, and whether the threat was high, or not so high, to the US, I always figured that sooner or later someone would use an atomic bomb on someone, and a nuclear WWIII would begin. Amazingly, the world was able to last long enough for me to make it to retirement age, and now, once again, I'm waking up wondering if today is going to be "The Day".....

I remember being taught to hide under the desk at school and having "air raid drills." I've read that it's a political trick, that "they" like the populace to be afraid so they'll support government defense spending and military actions. President Truman admitted as much, something like "scare the hell out of them." I don't like that scared feeling any more than you do.

Once I got older and learned more about Hiroshima, and how bad it was for even those that survived the blast, I pretty much decided that vaporization was a better way to go than burns and/or radiation sickness.

If nothing else, your post proves that you have a lifetime of irrational unrealized fears that never came true. The news outlets only make money if you watch them. How do they get you to watch them? How is it that a world new show that was once an hour every evening on 3 channels is now 4 or 5 24-hour cable news channels? I doubt there's anything more interesting happening now than there was 40 years ago, but now we have an entire media complex devoted to news. That's a lot of mouths to feed. They need you to watch. They get you to watch by making you afraid.

Even worse. If you're afraid, your body naturally goes into survival mode, freeze, flight, or fight. Higher order decision making shuts down. Don't let "them" do that to you. Don't do that to yourself. Please.

entirely wrong about them being irrational fears. I lived during that time; however, I don't remember us having drills. I know I was always afraid of the bomb, atom or hydrogen. When the newsreels came on before the movie and the bomb was shown in testing, etc. I used to get down under my seat.

So do not call us irrational for the fears we had during the Cuban Missile Crisis. I have always not trusted Russia and do not trust China nor Iran, etc. This little nitwit in North Korea is really sick and delusioned. In that kind of scenario, he would push a button anytime he felt like he was threatened, though, it is he who has the irrational fears.

Getting "down under my seat" when you see a video of the thing you fear is pretty much a textbook definition of an irrational fear. Clearly, you've become afraid of a representation or symbol of the thing you fear, in addition to the actual thing. That's irrational.

A rational person could reason that the newsreel isn't an actual nuke, it's not real, and cannot hurt you. It's only a picture of a nuke. A rational person would show no reaction to a picture of the thing they fear.

Compare your reaction to what Kim Jong-Un is reacting to: Actual, live fire, simulated attacks off the coast of his nation. Attacks that, for all he knows, could be real or not. They don't warn him that it's only a drill and he wouldn't believe them if they did.

the threat has always been there, in varying stages, and that now it's high once again. I'd been hoping the world had evolved beyond destroying itself over perceived principles, but obviously I was wrong. And it seems it's always about little men with little appendages that want to involve a globe full of innocent people in their inadequacies, and their quest to prove themselves to be "tough guys."

when a squadron of French fighter jets accompanying a larger plane (bomber or transport) flew over. It turned out they were participating in an air show in Sacramento. But during the show, the jets released red, white and blue smoke. They flew over the East Bay and the city out over the Pacific before turning around and heading back. But they weren't releasing their colored smoke, most people in the Bay Area didn't know about the air show, and Twitter suddenly lit up because everyone thought they were headed to Korea, possibly carrying a nuclear warhead.
