I can summarize the GOP's platform.

Posted: Nov 11, 2015

1.) End corporate regulation

2.) End corporate taxation, while raising the taxes of people who earn less than $100,000 a year

3.) End Medicare, Medicaid, and any government subsidies for healthcare. You either pay outrageous rates for insurance, or pay directly, out of pocket, for healthcare that is the most expensive in the world.....or you don't get healthcare.

4.) Education is only for the wealthiest Americans.

5.) Don't raise the minimum wage....abolish it. The masses should accept whatever work is available, at whatever price the employer is willing to pay. And don't expect any benefits.

6.) Abolish Social Security. When Americans can't work anymore, they are on their own.

7.) No government regulation....except for regulations that exert government control over women's bodies or what people do in their bedrooms. Oh, and these regulations only apply to the 99% of the population who are not billionaires or politicians.

I think that about covers it....please feel free to add to the list smile emoticon

Don't worry, Iran will launch a nuke before any serious - debate on this will have a chance

to happen.

Let me recharacterize those things and more in order of importance. - Immigration is an economic issue.

[ In Reply To ..]
and the cause for keeping wages low. We are tired of being called anti-immigration simply because we want people to come here legally.

Ending subsidies. The reason healthcare cost so much is BECAUSE of government intervention. Just like college tuition, they can charge what they want because they know the feds will pay for it. With any reform, it happens incrementally and not all at once. Scaring people by telling them will lose their healthcare is simply done for political reasons. Slowing the rate of growth and reform is called a cut by Democrats. Always remember that.

Social Security. Let people opt out if and keep the SS taxes and invest as they see fit. Social Security is in serious trouble. The SSA has been telling you this for at least the past decade, if you had been paying attention. But, if you haven't I'll quote this year's report: https://www.socialsecurity.gov/oact/tr/2015/tr2015.pdf.

Social Security Trust Funds used to be required by law to invest in Treasuries. Now they don't. The payroll-tax proceeds collected to pay for future benefits are thereby handed over to the federal government, which then spends it. Each time the program runs a cash-flow deficit, it redeems some of its trust-fund IOUs, and the government then has to borrow money, which adds to the deficit.

Corporate taxation, while raising the taxes of people who earn less than $100,000 a year. That's just a lie.

Education is only for the wealthiest Americans. That just a lie.

Minimum wage. This is tied directly to union wages. The higher the minimum wage, the more union wages go up. What are the consequences? Replaced by a machine, hiring less.

Opposing funding for public abortions. Standing up for companies that don't want to pay for these things is not denying them. Religious freedom.

Corporate grants, loans and taxes breaks. While some of this helps economic and job, the current administration tries to pick winners and losers by awarding grants to such things are solar companies (now defunct) while driving the cost of coal and electricity up by overregulating. Much of these grants, loans and tax breaks have been kicked back in the form of campaign contributions.

It's interesting to note, none of these things are constitutional, not that it matters anymore. This just shows how far dependency has gone in this country the mere time since our Constitution has been in existence.

Who would you follow into battle? It's really no different than asking who you support.

Minimum wage MTs caused us to be replaced? - Errors in thinking

[ In Reply To ..]
So much is wrong about your post, but the top one that frosts me over is your idea that MTs making less will somehow prevent the speech recognition machine. If there is a way to make a few PENNIES of profit, the corporations will do it. There has to be a minimum living wage as a floor.

Corporations are not small businesses. There's a big - difference.

Still not thinking correctly. - see message

You see, most small businesses do not have union employees. Also, small businesses are highly unlikely to purchase machines/or robots. If you want a small business but cannot afford to hire help at a living wage, then you should just work harder to do the work yourself.

Bravo! Well said and in terms even a democrat - could understand.

Some of the liberal/independent posts on this board are just regurgitating the false narratives put out by the MSM and have no desire to learn the real truth. Thank you very much for such an insightful and accurate post!

pockets of the working poor = higher taxes paid = less corporate welfare in the form of food stamps, healthcare subsides, etc. = money spent with resulting boosts to local economies.
That's not how it works. Higher minimum wages means small businesses - will hire less people. People will be

replaced with machines. It's simple economics. Democrats don't understand this because they've never run a small business.

and many others. We could save billions if not trillions by getting rid of them or at least downsizing them. The fed. employees make six figures plus all the benefits they get. They are also in a fed. union with benefits (paid by taxpayers).

The Pentagon wastes money too. I'm for getting rid of that too.

I doubt this will ever happen. Just my two cents.

The INS is worthless now, too. Add that to the list. - NM

Let's get rid of the millions spent on BENGAZI Hearings! - Talk about waste of money!

[ In Reply To ..]
That was one of the biggest wastes of money I've ever seen, other than the Iraq war, which was more than a tragedy. It set us up for ISIL and may eventually get us all killed.

America is not and never has been here to take over other countries and try to make them democracies, but that's what we tried to do, and it cost us dearly in blood and treasure. Let's don't do that again.

No, it's not a waste of money - The country deserves an answer

[ In Reply To ..]
The only people who don't want the Benghazi hearings are the Hillary supporters because they want their Queen in there no matter what she has done.

The country deserves the truth and the people responsible need to be held accountable for the deaths because of their actions. Not a coronation.

Why Obamacare Will Self Repeal. Two Words Summarize Why.Jan 11, 2017
The debate is over. We do not need to repeal Obamacare; it will repeal itself. Two words summarize why: risk pool. The ACA is founded upon a stunning misconception of the very definition of insurance. Its advocates have mistakenly conflated two unrelated concepts: insurance and welfare – or, more to the point, risk and charity. People buy insurance in order to mitigate risk. We buy fire insurance because there is a slight chance that our house will burn down. If we cannot afford ins ...

Income and wealth inequality: In the United States today we have the most unequal wealth and income distribution of any major country on earth -- worse than at any time since the 1920s. This is an economy that must be changed in fundamental ways. Jobs and income: In my view, we need a massive federal jobs program which puts millions of our people back to work. We must end our disastrous trade policies. We need to raise the minimum wage to a living wage. And we have to fight for pay equity ...

RNC Chair Priebus: GOP Platform Is Not NecessarilyAug 22, 2012
This is a bold strategy indeed for the party creed rollout….a candidate disclaimer stating they are not bound to abide by party principles.  I guess it’s a handy escape hatch for a nominee who HAS no core beliefs.  See, the party wants to run on the personhood plank, but they just don’t want to damage their candidates’ future political careers too much by making them say it out loud, in case they need to recycle the VEEP candidate in 2016.  That Reinc ...
