I shruggle my shoulders and then shake my head back and forth when I hear about republicans and "independent" all the time proclaiming great excitement over the next great hope. Everyone looking for a leader that will save them and they will followlike slave.
How many have it been now that everyone said was the one. at least 4 now.
I think the OP just said she hopes Cain continues to be a good candidate - Democrat who appreciates OPs concern
[ In Reply To ..]
There is nothing inappropriate about seeing a candidate that looks promising and hope they continue to be promising. The OP said she likes Cain's no-nonsense way of thinking and hopes that he's the real deal. Many of the other candidates have had cult-like followers: Palin, Trump, etc., and their feet turned out to be made of clay. Well, some of their followers still think that clay is gold, but they would think that no matter what those people did or said.
I'm a Democrat and an Obama supporter, but the OPs comment was entirely appropriate. I can even say that I also hope he's the real deal. So far, so good, right?
What in the world? Keep shrugging those shoulders. - COMMON SENSE -try some.

Nothing wrong with being hopeful since the guy currently in the WH has ruined the nation.

Wants free market health care restored. Tpots beware. He believes in extending citizenship to those infernal ILLEGAL ALIENS already residing in the US. Whoops.
These points are exactly why a lot of people will - vote for him. I don't know

though I do realize there is a highly negligible fringe minority who wouldn't bat an eye over supporting forcing these victims of crime into having babies that will be politically abandoned as soon as they progress from the fetus to infant stage. Perhaps even fewer of these fanatics would be willing to look past extending citizenship to all the illegals currently living in the US, but for most social engineers, that is a deal breaker, keeping in mind that they typically harbor an all-or-nothing mandate when it comes time for candidate selection, zero tolerance being what it is. Anyway, I am happy to oblige coming forth with the info. No problem. I so look forward to these across-the-aisle bonding moments.

He is just a man who is a politician. There is more to fixing the country than good ideas. Only 1/3 the power to change anything. it a long dark road before any meaningful change can occur. Country in grips of ignorance caused by business grip on information dispersl.
Oh Pooh! Enough with conspiracy theories about the media - Democrat again
[ In Reply To ..]
Most of us have enough brains to listen to a commentator and figure out how much of what he/she says is bull and which parts are facts verifiable by dependable sources.
You are right that the guy is just a main, just like all the other politicians, but politicians are all we've got!
You are also right that there is more to fixing a country than good ideas. You may also be right about the ignorance. Blaming it on the media is getting old. They can't convince us of anything unless we want to be convinced. That's why we tend to only listen to commentators or stations that tell us what we want to hear. Palin supporters know that they can go to Fox and have their beliefs about how great she is supported and encouraged. Those who are not her supporters, to use Palin again as an example, can go to CNN and get another side of it. If you watch the commercials, and I fast forward through them so I don't, they are selling products. The companies buy that time. I try not to buy anything that is sold on Fox, for example, because I don't like their slant on things. I'm not ignorant of it. Others don't like the slant on MSNBC or CNN, etc.
Business and the rich and powerful have control of Congress, of course, because they have money and power, and the rest of us don't. Has it always been that way? Probably. I don't like it though and I think it is turning our country into what others have become, a place where the rich get very, very rich, the poor get very, very poor, and the middle class becomes part of the poor. Some people think that's a good system. I don't.

The current state of America belies your assertion that most people are smart enough to wade through the information sludge produced by propaganda stations. Non-democrats are working directly against their own interests precisely because their base emotions are being stoked with fear and prejudice. Buy gold. Buy backpacks stuffed with freeze-dried foods. Come on. I don't get why you are championing civility towards those who do not miss an opportunity to bleet about what a horrible person our president is. sink to the level of those you dialogue with.
Only way you can get understood. they like the common man, not superior in intellect or accomplishments. Meet them where they live mentally.
I see your point, but I just can't stoop to that level - Democrat
[ In Reply To ..]
I was just thinking that even if President Obama weren't running, "they" would be just as mean and hateful toward anyone who did run, if they weren't a Republican. I can't live that way. Regardless of what "they" do, I'm not going to stoop to that level. Okay, the thought of Palin as President really threatens to push me that way, but I'm fighting it. LOL.
Well, yeah, ignorance gripping the country is what - got Obama elected.nm

Do you even understand economics? Do you understand how to create jobs and keep companies here. Do you know how to stop spending on unnecessary things. Or how about politicians starting to act like they care about the people of the country and what is happening to them. He's not "just a man who is a politician". He is a business man. He has run corporations and knows how to employ people, create jobs and keep them. He understands how economics works. He is a former deputy chairman in the Federal Reserve Bank of KY. He has received 2 degrees and worked for the US Navy. He has been a business analyst and VP and President/CEO of a company. He has also been involved in politics. Herman Cain is an excellent choice. Yes, it is going to be a long time before the country can have any meaningful change and that meaningful change doesn't mean to keep with the same thing. Talk about going deeper into the dark hole we were already sinking into. The country IS in "grips of ignorance" when they won't even wake up and understand that here will be no meaningful change if nothing changes.
The only problem I have with this logic is - sm

CAN run the country more like a business. Obamas inexperience in running anything is so obvious. The USA is in the dumps, and he has compounded that on every level. Right now, the majority of people hurting, and there are millions, need an ECONOMIC turnaround, duh. Thats where we start, and Obama is in way way over his little head.
Evidently you are unable to comment on the valid point - that has been raised.

Countries are not, nor will they ever be, corporations, but I have no problem whatsoever with the GOP taking its best shot trying to convince the voters otherwise. Knock yourselves out.
