Well, I guess I just got my first taste of Obamacare.  My health insurance premium just went up $200.00 a month!  Just barely treading water now, going to drown soon.

;

Obamacare has not been implemented yet - You premium hike is

a function of your insurance companys greed for profit, nothing more. When HCF does take effect, you can drop them like a hot potato and find better, more affordeable coverage.

Some of HC reform kicked in immediately - Backwards Typist

Others kick in next year, and HC reform fully kicks in in 2014.

Here are reforms implemented 2010 to 2011 - None of which accounts for the OPs premium hike

â€Â¢ Insurance companies barred from dropping people from coverage when they get sick, ending the practice of rescission. Lifetime coverage limits eliminated and annual limits restricted.
â€Â¢ Young adults able to stay on their parents' health plans until age 26. Many health plans currently drop dependents from coverage when they turn 19 or finish college.
â€Â¢ Uninsured adults with pre-existing conditions will be able to obtain health coverage through a new program that will expire once new insurance exchanges begin operating in 2014.
â€Â¢ Insurance companies cannot deny group or new (non-grandfathered) individual coverage to children under age 19, due to a pre-existing condition.[146]
â€Â¢ A temporary reinsurance program is created to help companies maintain health coverage for early retirees between the ages of 55 and 64. This also expires in 2014.
â€Â¢ Medicare drug beneficiaries who fall into the "doughnut hole" coverage gap will get a $250 rebate. The bill eventually closes that gap which currently begins after $2,700 is spent on drugs. Coverage starts again after $6,154 is spent.
â€Â¢ A tax credit becomes available for some small businesses to help provide coverage for workers.
â€Â¢ A 10% tax on indoor tanning services that use ultraviolet lamps goes into effect on July 1.

they didn't want it either. They got what they wanted how they wanted it. If there was no public option its because they didn't want it in. This is the democrats baby here...can't continue to blame something on the republicans when they had no say on it whatsoever.
Yeah, right. - I am so sure.

Recent history says otherwise. You just keep telling yourself all that malarkey but do not expect anyone who was alive and conscious during the HCR process to attribute the removal of public option from the plan to the dems. Uh-huh. RRRIIIGGGHHHTTT....

In case you haven't noticed we have a democrat ruled system (unfortunately). Republicans are being closed out of meetings and their suggestions, requests, and any other correspondence they have sent to be fairly heard and be included in the decisions being made has gone on deaf ears. Democrats in congress will have nothing to do with them and ignore them as though they are not there. These are the republicans we in this country voted for to represent us. This is not a democratic country, but they are trying to make it so, to include not listening to or giving any republicans any say in any of the decisions.

But uh-huh...you keep telling yourself its all the republicans fault, even when they are not included in the decision making. Even when they are not included in the behind closed door meetings where Obama is making fun of republicans and all the democrats are laughing. Hey here's one I'll save you the time of writing this response.... No public option?...that's Bush's fault. But sure go ahead and keep telling you that the choices being made by democrats against the republicans wishes are all their fault. You can repeat it however many times you want to...doesn't make it true.

Guess you haven't been keeping up on recent history. Just the same spew the worthless crooked democrats are giving to you.

Uh-huh....RRRIIIGGGHHHTTT

Don't worry, come November it will change.
GOP theme song: Would you like that no vote - before or after our amendment proposls?
[ In Reply To ..]
Process arguments are not to be confused with alternative policy presriptions. One claim to fame the GOP can boast during this campaign season is how they have more than tripled the use of the filibuster. However, there is no real upside to this incessant whining about being shut out of the process, so I would dial that back a bit if I were you. The efforts on the part of the dems to foster bipartisanship during the 111th have been concerted to the point of eroding their own base.

The louder you whine, the more pathetic you look and it does not change anything. The obstructionism of the GOP is one place in government that has managed to achieve full transparency. Voters may have short attention spans, but not THAT short, especially since the GOP reinforces this reality on a daily basis whenever Congress is in session, especially in the Senate. To claim otherwise will serve only one useful purpose by adding fuel to the fires of GOP hypocrisy. Insulting the intelligence of voters is not the most efficient strategy to use to gain their support.
Really? Your argument is laughable when Obama is - plummeting in approval, and democratic
[ In Reply To ..]
Congress approval is below 20 pct. lol. I think a lot of people woke up to see the real hypocrites, and in November, you might not see it as "whining" any longer, but REAL CHANGE instead.
Considering the degree of GOP obstruction, - it is surprising that
[ In Reply To ..]
Congress can muster even a 20% approval rating. Last time I checked, polls do not specify precisely WHAT it is about Congress they disapprove of. Surely you cannot be so pious as to believe that the GOPs turning the halls of Congress into giant NO echo chambers hasnt made substantial contributions to those dismal numbers, can you? It is interesting to note that Obamas approval ratings are still twice as high as all those folks we will be voting for in November.

Might want to try to find a different slogan between now and then instead of plagarizing that of your opponents from 2008. Then again, most of us realize how challenging it is for the GOP to come up with any truly innovative or creative ideas these days. After all, they never really did get past 2008, now did they? And that hypocrisy factor? We cede this victory to you, hands down. No one does it quite like the pachyderms.

Anyway, you still dont get it. Voters are intelligent enough to see through the GOPs confusion between fillibuster and genuine governance and can figure out the difference between moving forward and being sucked back into the tarpits of recycled failed pub policies, most especially since the GOP has been completely incapable of articulating one single thing that remotely resembles any REAL CHANGE from those bad ole days.

Yes, voters \"are intelligent enough\" -they eventually - woke up to Obama! lol nm

Who among us votes for a candidate because they can fillibuster and obstruct better than their opponent?
You said it...I'm sure it is Bush's fault his approval rating is so low - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
As I'm sure it's also Bush's fault that Marie took her personal vacation to Spain and is having the American taxpayers pay for it.

The simple matter of truth is that congress' approvals are dropping at an alarming rate. Guess that's what they get when they try and screw over the country. And the more their approval ratings drop the more the attack dogs come out and whatever the subject matter is they blame it on Bush. Congress is filled with crooks and hypocrits.

I'm looking for a real change come November. Finally something to look forward to.

Doomed fits if it keeps going the way it is. There is no hope, no choices, no nothing. They keep repeating the same democrat mantra over and over (ya know that same crapola "no" line or the "we've always wanted it this way and they are trying to stop us, etc, etc. All I say is they are so full of bull-oney I can smell them all the way out here), and it gets old because they have no solutions. They claim everything bad that's happened is always a republicans fault and us poor little democrats are just trying to fix it. Bull-oney is what I say. I'm sick of the pity party routine they are trying to pull. Looks like the rest of the country is sick of it too.

A change for the good would be a very good welcome. People who actually know how to kick start the economy again, create jobs (for people in the country, not just their buddies in govt) and hopefully (keep our fingers and toes crossed) reverse and repair the damage that's been done so far because of the nitwits. We need some people who know what they are doing and also a bit of honesty and decency back because we're sure not getting it with the crowd in their now.

November 2010 - SO looking forward to it. The country needs something to hope for.
Where to shoot holes in your argument first? - Lets see....

The First Lady paid all of her own hotel and food expenses. The security expense goes with the territory of her being First lady, and it would accrue whether she goes on vacation or goes to the beauty salon or back to school shopping with her kids in D.C...its all the same. The Marie reference is worthy of comment only to the extent that it shows just how good of a little Fox/Rush foot soldier you are. Congrats. Youve got that parrot thing down pat.

Congress is made up of 2 political parties and approval ratings do not specify exactly what part of congressional behavior is being disapproved of. I suspect obstructionism plays a HUGE part in those low numbers. I agree with the screw over the country comment, just not for the same reasons I am sure you ar trying to imply. I have faith in the American voters to be able to figure out just who has been doing the screwing over and in this respect, again, blatent obstruction is not going to play out nearly as well as you seem to think it will.

Kindly refrain from putting words in my mouth. You are the one bringing W into the dialog, not me. Now that you have, let me pass along this little tidbit. Guess what Ws approval ratings were one month before the 2004 election? Oh wow! Would you look at that? 43%. Obama is not anywhere near Ws all-time July 2008 low rating of 22%, is he?

That real change thingy has already been covered in a previous post. GOP cannot articulate one single way in which they would bring about any REAL CHANGE since their last best efforts at leading the country. Recycled failed pub policy was soundly rejected in 2008, remember? So maybe you could help us out and show us what the GOP means by real change. Which policies would those be and why does Mitch Mcconnell want to keep that info under wraps until late September? Oh, I forgot. He doesn't want to "tip his hat." This is the party we are supposed to take seriously? Tee-hee. When pigs fly.
Congrats to you...you got that liberal take down perfectly - Here's shooting holes in your theory
[ In Reply To ..]
Marie - because it's the same type of behavior. If that's what is being said on Fox good for them for pointing out the obvious. Ya might want to do a little research on Marie and why the two have so much similarities.

Ya might also want to do a little research on how much her nice little "personal vacation" cost the American people. We can't afford shoes for our childrens feet or put food on the table, yet we're supposed to pay for her vacation, oh yes...forgot...to console a personal Chicago friend...boo hoo. It cost over $150,000 to run the plane for her stunt. She doesn't pay for the cost. She just pays what would be a regular ticket for her. We are paying for her entourage of people. She tells people to cut back and go to Florida and eat your spinach then boasts a lifestyle so lavishly opposite what she tells the people of the country to do.

If you want to talk about obstruction then look no further than the democrat party. Yeah, I agree there is supposed to be 2 political parties there, but right now the republicans can't get anything passed or even considered thanks to the party of "me, me, me".

I do not believe I put any words in your mouth. I was writing my own comments. I did not bring other presidents approval ratings into my post because I wasn't talking about every other president in history. I do try to stay focused on the current events. I really don't care what Bush, Reagan, Carter, Lincoln, or Roosevelts approval ratings were. Try to stay focused on the current time.

I do have faith in the people of the country. They know what happened last time they voted with their eyes closed. I think everyone has learned from their mistakes.

November 2010 - something to look forward do.
Thanks for the compliment and for noticing that - sm

like most libs, I dont have to resort to constructing my posts with words lifted straight out of the mouths of O'Reilly, Hannity, Rush, etc or from other wing-nut blog sites.

I am well aware of who Marie is and what lameness lies behind the (yawn, not again) phoney outrage the parallel universe over at Fox and LimbaughLand is trying to ratchet up, but I am not in the mood for stooping to that level this evening, so you will have to find someone else to suck down that rabbit hole to the underbelly, err, I mean fantasy world you guys live in.

The First Lady does not have the luxury of choosing a commercial flight and ducking the secret service. It's Air Force 2 or nothing at all. BTW, she did not write the rules. If she were to try to do such a thing, her critics would just scoff at her abandoning the pomp and circumstance that surrounds the dignity of the office and taking reckless chances with her children's safety. We all know this would be the case because the pachys are so transparent and predictable when it comes to their hatred of the president, and they don't think twice when extending it toward his wife and children. So much for family values, but whatever happened to leaving the family out of it, ala Sarah Palin defenses? Hopeless hypocrites would be my guess.

Anyway, she is darned if she does and darned if she doesn't since nothing she or her husband does will ever do anything but elicit (yawn, not again) phoney outrage from the phoney outrage fanatics. But one does have to wonder if you are equally as outraged at any other American traveller who can afford to and has decided to vacation overseas while you can't afford to put food on the table or shoes on your children's feet (insert sad violin music here)? I mean, after all, aren't you guys the ones who are willing to put yourselves (and all the rest of us along with you) in the poor house and stay there for the sake of the rich getting richer and richer and richer? Don't say no. We have only two parties here, and I know for a fact it's not my party, so it must be yours, huh?

Entourage? My, my. How very Sean Hannity of you. You must be referring to the Secret Service, all 70 of them to be exact, since her friends also paid their own way. Whose idea do you suppose that was? I am sure the First Lady is just thrilled to be saddled with that SS crowd wherever she goes, and that her kids cannot have the privacy afforded to the rest of us when we go on vacation. Again, she did not make the rules, but in this current political climate where hate spews over the airways and in chat rooms as we speak on a minute-to-minute basis for her having the utter gall to take a vacation with her kids, she just might actually NEED all that protection after all.

The Florida and eat spinach incoherence is obviously taken out of context (yawn, another thoroughly predictable repug behavior), not terribly worthy of comment, although I do understand that the First Lady is into organic gardening. I fail to see what is so outrageous about that. What I do find repugnant is the notion that an entire political party would be going so bananas trying to make something out of nothing while all the time THEY are the ones trying to make nothing out of something when it comes to attacking the critically serious problems our nation is now facing. For this, I think the shame is theirs, not hers.

Your next paragraph is also way to petty and childish to take seriously. Every grown up living breathing person watching the political process can easily discern who is trying to do something for the economy and who is not. As far as the ratings go, I was just following your lead into the bush (pardon the pun). Besides, my comment does focus on the current time when observing that your pontifications about falling ratings portend some sort of imagined basis for bogus boasts and (how did you put it?) looking forward to November. That to me means election, so I was merely pointing out that folks with ratings under 50% have been re-elected in the past, and that there is nothing to say that history won't repeat itself. If you weren't so busy trying to diss me, you might have noticed what the context of the comment was all about. Better luck next time, though I wont be making any wagers on that.

By the sound of your posts, I would estimate that I am at least old enough to be your mother, and possibly your grandmother, so I will ignore that parental chide where you are trying to position yourself to instruct me on where I should place my focus. Not to worry. I have become completely numb to the rude that is yet another universally distasteful character trait the pubs seem to share.

I see by your parting shots that you are on your way back down that rabbit hole again. Be careful not to fill your mouth too full of dirt you may have to eat come November on your way down the chute, Alice. You will be happy to know that you can have the parting shot, if you like. I will not be responding to a third round of your vapid volleys. An intellect is a terrible thing to waste and mine needs an infusion of enrichment. As they say in Spain, adios muchachita.
Thanks for the compliment - Heres shooting holes in your theory

Since they were my own words I thank you for the compliment that you seem to think they were from Fox. Sorry to disappoint, but they are my own words and thoughts. We people who do watch Fox do make our own conclusions since we are given all the facts.

Your post was quite long and as soon as I got to the words "wing-nut blog sites" I knew I didn't need to read any further.

Just more scare tactics I would presume coming from the liberal media outlet. Too bad none of them report real news, but instead only attack those who are not in their "club".

But good luck with that. You sure have the buzz words down.

Healthcare's Bipartisan Problem. Almost Half Of Healthcare SpendingJan 13, 2017
healthiest half of the population consumes only 3% of health care costs. The only alternative would appear to be taxpayer subsidies. It is next to impossible, politically, to take away freebees once in place. Income redistribution continues to increase. The 2010 health law, also known as Obamacare, forced insurers to sell coverage to anyone, at the same price, regardless of their risk of incurring big claims. That provision was popular. Not so were rules requiring nearly everyone to have ins ...
