I must have missed Glenn Beck's turning six months ago, but saw this current interview on CNN this weekend. The second part is next weekend.
I'm curious as to whether anyone has any thoughts on his realizations.
Genuine or fiction? Is he the beginning of realization of the Fox News indoctrination and damage? He says he regrets the time he spent on Fox and basically apologizes for the damage done. (I claim this as a realization for Fox because I feel he was a pretty good representation of the thought process at Fox. If not, feel free to make me aware. I don't watch much Fox, not my cup of "tea," pun intended. I'm sure there is a certain group that feels he is a traitor and will have strong feelings on this.
self-interest - building new empire?
Has his religion prompted a different course?
He does explain the emotional response phenomonen, stating that his show started right after 911 and he was swept up in the reaction.
I got from him that conversation and respect for the other person's opinion (although not nonsensical ranting and character assasinations) should be listened to, evaluated and at least considered as to their perspective and what that means for society on the whole.
Spewing purely hateful comments back and forth does nothing but produce more hate and division.
I think we should talk to each other about issues to expose others to different view points and possible conclusions about all sorts of subjects. It really is not of much use to just state your facts and be completely unaffected by any others' opinions -- other than to snark. Even if you feel the other person dead wrong, most often that opinion you are opposing is held by a great number of people and is something to heed when making decisions as to how to participate in society.
Or are we just coming to Civil War?
