morning? I was off today so tuned in in the car. He and Pat Gray, I think it was, were doing a parody of comments Obama "could have made" on E.T. They even had the E.T. music to go with it. It was hysterical.! When you really stop and think about it, it is kind of funny for him to choose E.T. to make his case rather than a liberal-biased station (it would have been so easy to choose one). Instead, he chose a little rinky-dink show to tout his little rinky-dink policies that have our economy in the toilet, and being flushed further and further down.

Glenn Beck is an entertainer. He even calls himself a rodeo clown. This particular "parody" was a riot. Compare to Pig Maher, who actually calls himself a comedian and really is just a steaming pile, but I bet you like him, huh?

watch The Daily Show. They give a perspective from BOTH sides and are always funny (if the tragedy of what the 1% lobby that is the Republican party had done to our country can be deemed funny in any way, shape or form) and entertaining.

He went too far toward "crazy town". Even Fox could not abide it. He's clever in that he found a niche where he could manipulate a certain type of audience, mostly people who don't know how to think outside the box of his rantings or have any desire to really think for themselves. IMO.

Wasn't familiar with Beck's key-to-the-city award, so I did a search - and found a newspaper report.

BTW, the key-to-the-city award was made back in 2009, when Glenn Beck was probably still at the height of his popularity on TV. Today....not so much. The people presenting the award made it a point that the award was being given for his success, not for his politics.

According to the newspaper account, the crowd of supporters didn't seemingly outnumber the detractors (unless there were later actual numbers somewhere that showed that?)....they just said that it was the largest demonstration anyone could remember.

From the newspaper story:
Mt. Vernon Fire Department spokeswoman Erica Work said the crowd peaked at about 800 people and was the largest demonstration anybody could remember in city history. She said that, as of 7 p.m., there had been one arrest — a man standing out in traffic had ignored repeated verbal warnings to get off the street. He was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and booked into the Skagit County Jail.

Many in the crowd — which seemed fairly evenly mixed between protesters and supporters of Beck — said it was a good thing that people are passionate about politics.
