Fake Doctor Notes being handed out in WI

Posted: Feb 21, 2011

This is apalling that "doctors" would do this. I have a feeling they are not real physicians, but they are handing out these notes to anyone who needs one.  Really teaching our children right, aren't they? This is disgusting! Those that show up with those notes should be FIRED IMMEDIATELY. It's bad enough that this is an illegal strike, although they don't call it a strike, but it is just as bad.

Nobody is taking away anyone's right. Haven't you heard the state is broke. There are no drastic measures being taken. The unions and teachers are way out of line. I hope they get fired over this.

---get over it.

The unions gave in to every financial concession that - Walker needed for the budget. sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Instead, what he really wants is to strip them of their collective bargaining rights.

This is purely political and shows that it's the Republicans who want to take rights away from people, not Democrats.

The rich have benefited enough under Bush and Obama. It's time to bring back the middle class. Remember them? They used to exist in America and balanced out the country. Now, it's only the rich and poor. And if you're still considered middle class, it's only a matter of time before you find yourself squeezed into the "poor" class through no fault of your own other than supporting the greedy Republicans.
The reason they have an issue with the - sm

collective bargaining rights is because the state is trying to keep things from getting out of control again with pensions, etc. This is a preventative measure from not having to do this to union workers again. If they keep their collective bargaining...they are gonna want more and the state cannot afford it. They are doing this to prevent them from getting more until the state recovers.

I understand it sucks to lose money, benefits, etc. But look at it this way....we have kids who are out of school and will have to make up that time. If things aren't resolved, about 6K people are gonna be laid off. So who seems selfish now?

Walker wants to ABOLISH public unions, not freeze - collective bargaining temporarily.
[ In Reply To ..]
The union workers offered to concede to ALL pension and benefits proposals, thus giving way to Walkers ALLEGED balanced budget concerns. Translation: No layoffs would be immediately pending. Walker has refused yet continues to threaten unspecified public employees with layoffs. This is political grandstanding at its worse and is really nothing short of emotional blackmail aimed at turning public opinion against union members and in his direction, not to mention abuse of his authority. The fact that he is willing to REFUSE a fiscal solution to the budget shortfalls by accepting the unions offer to pay more for benefits and pensions while preserving their collective bargaining rights is the only answer I need as to who is being selfish. Keep in mind how Walker has implored quorum democrats to return to "debate" the bill which he at the same time calls "nonnegotiable."

Were Walker to accept the compromise, democrats would return to debate the remaining issues, but evidently Walker does not really want that either. Rep Gordon Hintz said all that needs saying on this subject. Heres a link to that video.

The unions should be abolished - WI MT
[ In Reply To ..]
The teachers and others could still be part of a union if they chose, it would not be mandatory and dues would not be automatically taken out of paychecks. They could still collective bargain for everything but wages which would be voted on the taxpayers, those actually paying the salaries. There should be no compromise. The unions have bankrupted this state. The union bosses are mad because they know without mandatory members they are worthless. Honestly, when the people paid by the taxpayers are making more than the taxpayers the madness needs to stop. Thank goodness we have a common sense governor who is taking on these unions. Indiana will be next.
Why did Walker give tax breaks to corporations - instead of balancing the budget?
[ In Reply To ..]
Just curious.
Ask former governor Doyle - WI MI
[ In Reply To ..]
You should really be asking the question to former Demorat governor Doyle who misappropriated funds and lied about it and left the state in the mess it is in. He made it look like there was a surplus but he took money from one fund and never repaid it. He never paid Minnesota the reciprocity tax either. Why did he lie about the books? Walker just started in January and he is trying to balance the budget and do it in a way where no one loses their job. Detroit is planning on closing half their schools yet I don't see you complaining about Michigan. Half those teachers will be unemployed. Yet no protests there. HMMM.

Economics 101 corporations and small businesses are the job creators- not government. Many businesses were moving out of state due to the high cost of doing business in Wisconsin. Tax breaks were given knowing that jobs would be created and businesses would be staying in Wisconsin. Otherwise who will pay for these teachers and state workers when all the families have moved out of state because they have no jobs or are sitting on unemployment? Honestly. Supply and demand is not a hard concept. If the jobs stay in Wisconsin the tax revenue from the employed living and spending their money in Wisconsin will add to more tax revenue for the state than the minor tax breaks given to the corporations. No one loses their job and in fact more will be created and the budget will be balanced.
Nice try. The tax breaks for corps I refer to happened - after Walker took office.
[ In Reply To ..]
In fact, he had barely been in office 2 weeks. This article raises some pretty interesting points.

And how many hundreds of thousands unemployed. Not funny and not phoney.

Also, the greedy little mob bosses should be eliminated!

I know...the teachers that can't deal with having to pay a measly little 5% extra for their benefits I say give their jobs to qualified people who are unemployed who would be more than happy to pay less then everyone else here for their benefits.

the compromises offering to PAY what he is asking for (contrary to what you seem to believe) while preserving collective bargaining rights. The fact that Walker has refused outright HIS OWN proposed solution to the budget shortfalls exposes his hypocrisy and real underlying agenda. I stand by my post. PHONEY fiscal CONCERNS. This is NOT about money. Its about destroying unions, and trying to eliminate a major funding source for his opposition party.
if the teachers were doing their job they would not need a union - WI MT
[ In Reply To ..]
I have said this on this board multiple times and no one has said anything to challenge me. There is no need for collective bargaining for teachers if they would actually do their job. Their raises should be based on job performance. That way we could weed out the lousy teachers who are in it solely for the benefits and doing the bare minimum until retirement. There are many good teachers who deserve more than the union is "getting" for them.
Evidently, as many as 35,000 folks challenge this notion in WI. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
In fact, recent polls in WI show over 70% suupport collective bargaining. BTW, Indiana has scrapped the right to work bill after dems flew the coup, placing quorum out of reach.

Now, could you please address Walkers phoney concern over the budget?
real budget concern, check your facts - WI MT
[ In Reply To ..]
It is obviously we need to agree to disagree. The state of Wisconsin will be broke by 2013 and we need to refinance 165 million by Friday or thousands of people need to be laid off. That is not including the money need to be paid to Minnesota not including the money former Governor Doyle misappropriated. Add that all up and by 2013 there will be a 3.6 billion debt. Certainly not phony. We elected him to fix the budget and he is trying to do that without people losing their jobs.

Apparently you feel that giving tax breaks is a bad thing while I think it is a good thing. Lowering taxes in WI (which is one of the highest in the nation by the way) only encourages businesses to set up shop here, thus employing people and keeping the money local. I wish I didn't have to pay any taxes at all, but unfortunately some things need to be paid for. The more people to share the burden and pay for things like police, prisons and dare I say teachers the less tax burden on everyone. With WI high taxes a lot of businesses were moving out of the state thus reducing the pool of people who were paying taxes and increasing the number of people on the government payroll (unemployment and welfare). If you keep "taxing the rich" pretty soon there will be no one left to pay the taxes.

I feel that teachers should be paid based on their performance and you obviously feel that they are entitled to whatever salary the union mob bosses deem is appropriate and damn the people who are paying their salaries. I feel that teachers should have performance reviews and even get fired, which the union prevents. I also feel that some teachers deserve more than that what the union negotiates for their salaries, some teachers just do a better job than others.

It is obvious we don't agree, but like Obama said, the election is over and the people have spoken. If you don't like you can always move to a different state or get involved in your local political party and help get people elected who think more like you. That is the beauty of America- we are allowed to have different view points and debate but I think the debate is over. So I agree to disagree. Have a good day!

You may not agree with the SCOTUS and all of its judges (most people don't), but to call those judges who you don't agree with "losers" is just totally disrespectful of the office.

By the way, if a tea partier had called a black supreme court judge a "loser," he/she would be labeled a racist by the progressives so quickly his/her head would spin. The name calling is pathetic.

The schools in WI aren't that great. So why are we praising these teachers. They've got their kids out protesting with them and these kids have no idea what is really going on. I have a problem with this. Teach kids history but leave the political side out of it. Talk about brainwashing our kids. These teachers should be fired. I still don't see how this is for the students. So far they have done nothing but cause the kids to have to go to school later in the summer now.
