Dubya, the transcription's nightmare

Posted: Nov 13, 2009

You think your doctor/dictator can't speak proper English to save his soul? Dubya is still at it. If the family decides the dynasty should continue with Jeb, does anyone know if he can at least put a sentence together? And pronounce nuclear?

Continuing the Bush bashing does not change Obama's - sinking poll numbers..nm

Do you always make fun of people for no reason - or just conservatives

[ In Reply To ..]
Before you start pointing your finger at people (only conservatives and independents that is) who will make a mistake everyone once in awhile.

And you know, I'm sorry he doesn't pronounce nuclear how you want it pronounced. He is from Texas and speaks with a Texan accent. Sorry it isn't to your liking. At least it was an improvement from the Clinton and Gore accent.

Lets see, Obama cannot pronounce Orion and Pakistan.

The transcriptionists nightmare is having to type someone who is full of but, but, but, uh, uh, uh, but, uh, but.....

I, I, I, I, L L Lu, Lu, Lu, Luv, it! - I would much rather hear Dubya anyday! .nm

These posts make me think - of

bored mischievous teenagers with cans of spray paint running through a neighborhood tagging everything. :P :)
Then you should have replied to the OPs post - because that was just what that was

A child making fun of someone because of the way he talks.
No, that one doesn't fit the description. The .nm ones - are
[ In Reply To ..]
the ones that are plastered all over the board and there's nothing inside. Too funny!
I guess then you think the juevenile posts bashing conservatives are okay - as long as its your side doing it.

Thanks for clearing that up.
???? - I did not
[ In Reply To ..]
mention a word about content. It's the "style" I'm referring to. Puts in mind bored teenagers tagging things.

Bush, the scarecrow - NJ

[ In Reply To ..]
While some people somewhere thought Bush comparatively smart and would have loved to have a beer with him, his lack of speaking skills made me cringe. It was embarrassing for him to be representing the country.

That website has a loooooong archive of blunders that isn't matched by any public speaker. I'd much rather edit out an "uh, but, uh" than try to make sense of total gibberish, hehe.

So, no one in Texas knows how to pronounce nuclear? More nonsense! By the way, how is it that he's the only one in the family with a Texas accent? I mean, I know they are only there to avoid taxes and aren't native to Texas, but why don't mom and dad and Jeb have Dubya's twang? Think he might be putting it on? Maybe wants to be a cowboy so bad he affects a Texas accent? I've read he drops it entirely in person when deep in conversation.

Bush, if he only had a brain.

NJ, who thinks the person with the power to push the button should not keep saying nuke-you-ler

Pronunciation - Will

[ In Reply To ..]
Ted Kennedy biography contained a cute story about his mother, Rose, contacting him, telling him to correct his pronunciation of ''nuclear'' after he pronounced it ''nukular'' in a speech.

This constant bashing because of mispronunciation--amazing. So petty, childish and silly.

Dare think the prez should be able to speak well? - NJ
[ In Reply To ..]
What was I thinking?

Heh, Dubya was a spoiled little kid put into power by money. He was never good at learning, and I doubt his mommy would have ever corrected him. She adored him too much. ;)

nj
So then......link attached. - hmmm
[ In Reply To ..]
Do you hate him because his family had money or do you hate him because he didn't pronounce nuclear the way you think it should be pronounced.

Sheesh! The guy pronounces a word not the way you do or others do and now all of a sudden he can't speak.

Newsflash for ya....Obobo can't pronounce Orion or Pakistan. But I'll bet your not making fun of his. No he wasn't born into money...he acquired it through sleazy deals and friends. And when he was younger I doubt his mommy would ever have corrected him. She adored him too much ;)

There are a lot of people who were never good at learning. But since you don't know what President Bush's grades were and since you were not a classmate of is those are all your opinions.

Yeah the President should be able to speak well. That includes Bill Clinton (talk about not speaking well), and God forbid a teleprompter isn't working for Obobo... he has no idea how to speak or put sentences together if it isn't prepared for him ahead of time "uh, uh, um, but..but..but..uh, uh, um".

I'd expect this kind of post (what you wrote) from a child in grammar school.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThEAO0lt4Dw

My mom (and dad) taught me it's not nice to make fun of other people just because of their accent (the way they talk) or the clothes they wear, etc. I wish other parents would teach their kids the same. At least I listened and give them something to be proud of. Not the same could be said here.
So you - say

And you post a fun-making video and say this? "Yeah the President should be able to speak well. Again with the hate - NJ
[ In Reply To ..]
I think Bush was a fool, and so were the people who voted for him twice.

I don't hate him.

Do you hate the people with whom you disagree? You seem to like the word hate. Perhaps it's a regular part of your vocabulary?

And again, there is not nor, I think, will there ever be anyone who could flub up a speech like Bush. Everyone stumbles, he floundered repeatedly.

Has the board stooped to this level? What happened to all the adults that used to post good articles and information.

Over the last day I have been amazed to see how may people bashing Bush, when you don't take responsibility for the current president when he makes his mistakes and gets tongue tied and has the uh, uh, oh, uh, duh.

For your information all presidents have been able to speak speak proficient. The bashing/hatred is running rampant on this board.

Thank you. I agree - jm
[ In Reply To ..]
All this board has become is an arguing place to go. They spew their hate and can't see it (or refuse to admit it).

They also ask you for facts (sources) to when you post something they don't agree with but when it comes to them making statements they feel they don't need to provide sources, and then make fun of people for asking.

Yeah, I'm sure there will be a response to this but at this point who cares. Not worth reading sometimes and like you say - no one wants to argue with them.

Get a job or a life, please!! Getting old! - nm

My Worst NightmareJan 25, 2015
My worst nightmare is to wake up day after elections and find we have another Bush or Clinton in the WH. This is why I am for the people picking out the representative for both parties. I am sick of monied people and those considering themselves more knowing than the rest of us (elites) picking and choosing our next president. We hire the president and everyone else in the Congress, etc. Why is it we can't pick our own choice for candidate. Something is wrong with this picture. ...

Time Share NightmareSep 08, 2012
My stepfather purchased a time share property many years ago.  I think he and my mom used it a total of three times. For years now he has been attempting to sell the time share.  Three years ago I went with him to meet with a representative who told my SF the property was now out of his name.  (After my SF gave him a check that day for $4,000.)   It never happened.  Two and one-half years ago I took a phone call up at the house when he was not home.  ...
