A community of 30,000 US Transcriptionist serving Medical Transcription Industry
March 16, 2012. I went for the interview today, which went exceptionally well especially considering I have not had a "live" interview in over 20 years, I was offered the job on the spot and after explaining that I want to work a notice, I will start with my State on March 16th. I am so excited, if I could have started today I would have, lol.
One of the huge concerns that I was having was the social anxiety that I have developed since I have been home. However, today I seemed to come out of my shell and it was in a huge part due to how graciously I was treated by the people that interviewed me and other employees.
To all of you out there who are over the age of 40 and thought that this was your lifetime career path, there are ways out. I encourage you to search every aspect possible. At the age of 45 I never thought that anyone would be interested in hiring me and this job literally fell into my lap just by me researching jobs on the internet. This goes for anyone really of any age that wants out of this career.
I love transcribing and it is truly with a heavy, heavy heart that I walk away from it but I love the fact that I am opening a new chapter in my life, I am going to be socializing, as well as working, getting out of my house and back into what I consider living. While the pay is not grand (starting out at just over $30,000), the benefits are beyond fantastic and I am truly looking forward to learning something new.
As I have stated so many times in the past when I have posted, I wish you all the very, very best, I pray that this industry makes a turn around for all of you and again, if you want out, search under every nook and cranny.
