Democrats losing moral clarity on Israel...

Posted: Jul 21, 2014

found interesting. They explain a lot about the generally negative view that American liberals have of Israel.... "But on the left, the Israeli-Arab dispute itself has been redefined. Liberals used to see the stakes with no illusions: A small Jewish democracy, an outpost of liberal Western values, was surrounded by brutal Arab dictatorships that denied its very right to exist. That moral clarity has eroded, partly because of facts on the ground over years of conflict — but ultimately through a skillful war of ideas, first launched on the radical left, to reframe the conflict by making Israel the villain and casting Palestinians, who had never been considered a nation, as an oppressed underdog seeking independence. This intellectual assault began, as Muravchik details, when the Soviet Union, angered by Israel’s defeat of its Arab clients in 1967, engineered a propaganda campaign to delegitimize Zionism. Moscow embraced the PLO, assiduously promoting its significance to the global “anti-imperialist struggle.” The campaign was fought on many fronts, from academia to the United Nations to the media. Over time the anti-Israel narrative gained such traction that the Jewish state, though still a humane and liberal democracy, became one of the world’s most reviled nations." ;

This reminds me of something I was - listening to today...

"The moral equivalence crowd always seeks to emphasize the negative aspects of America as they attempt to establish that we're no better. "We're just as bad as these guys are! Who's to say we're any better?" That's always a bit of attention focused on the negative 'cause they understand human nature. Negative is easy. Everybody can be negative. Everybody knows how to be a pessimist. It doesn't take any effort whatsoever. So you appeal to that, and you score." Rush Limbaugh

What I don't understand is why Jewish individuals tend to be democrat when it seems the democrats have the deck stacked against them.

I think they're liberals first, not practicing Jews. - Liberalism is a religion, but

being Jewish in America does not mean pro-Israel. Very odd, but like I said they are liberals first. That trumps everything.

Here's an example of liberal first. Look how they - treat Elizabeth Warren

[ In Reply To ..]
and Hillary Clinton as opposed to Sarah Palin. The reason is, is because she's conservative, she's not liberal. So it has nothing to do with women's rights. It's all about liberalism.

Look how they treat a black conservative. Once again, liberals first. Same with Jewish liberals.

It's because Palin has proven her lack of historical knowledge over and over - and
[ In Reply To ..]
demonstrated she was in no way ready to be a heartbeat away from an old man president. Talk about non-vetting. The McCain campaign people pretty much have backed that up multiple times.

She is just plain not smart. All she has to do is repeat the right-wing mantra and collect money from her followers. She is a user. She doesn't care about anyone but herself. She gives conservatives a bad name. And she abandoned her office... to make money for herself by exploiting conservatives.

To even inject her a discussion about Clinton and/or Warren makes no sense. They are WAY out of her league. WAY WAY out.

It has nothing to do with liberalism or being a conservative. It has to do with leadership and intelligence and serving ALL Americans. Abandoning office in mid term does not represent a leader. Having an embarrassing lack of history is not leadership material.

I personally know people who voted in that election for Obama specifically to try to avoid having McCain/Palin in office. Not so much to avoid McCain himself, as he is a great American hero, but the idea of having Sarah Palin as president if something were to happen to McCain? The earth would explode in a million pieces just at the idea of it. Holy cow, just think about that. Scary to think the Republicans would even dream of making that a possibility. I am really curious as to whether the Republicans really, truly could not find anyone else better than Palin? Really? I wish the US would stop funding Hamas. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
It's under the guise of humanitarian aid for Palestinians, but Hamas uses it for armament shipments from Iran. My feeling is if we're going to attempt humanitarian aid, give it to the UN and let them distribute it to the proper people, not Hamas.

Glenn Beck Has A Moment Of Clarity.Jan 08, 2010
Beck said the birthers' (often-debunked) claim about Obama's citizenship was the "dumbest thing I’ve ever heard."  The birthers are only "discrediting themselves" with their idiotic statements, Beck added. http://voices.kansascity.com/node/7116 Rick Sanchez is reporting on a new investigation the Secret Service is launching of 6 or so of the birthers more outspoken proponents.  That should prove to be an interesting story once it starts to unfold.  ...

The Resilience Of Israel. Israel Would Seem To Be In A Dec 29, 2016
inevitable nuclear capabilities of Iran and the recent deterioration of its relationship with the United States, its former patron and continued financial benefactor. Immediately upon entering office, President Obama hectored Israel on so-called settlements. Obama promised to put "daylight" between the U.S. and Israel -- and delivered on that Last week, the U.S. declined to veto, and therefore allowed to pass, a United Nations resolution that, among other things, isolates Israel international ...

The Moral Test Of GovernmentFeb 27, 2011

Losing My FriendMay 12, 2012
Last July I posted about my friend, Fran.   She had been taken to the hospital with an infection, then underwent open heart surgery followed by a long list of compications.  She had insulin dependent diabetes since she was five years of age.  Fran never made it home from the hospital, and spent many months in a nursing home.  Today I got the call that she died Friday morning.  Although I am thankful her suffering is at an end, I am feeling so empty and t ...

THIS IS WHAT DEMS LOSING LOOKS LIKEOct 04, 2012
They set themselves up to lose earlier this week b/c they knew that man-to-man, without the editing prowess of MSNBC and the networks, that their guy would lose big time....and he did. However, after debate - it's all good. "CNN poll must be way skewed," they said, "with way to many republicans in the poll."  Really - that's something CNN has never been guilty of before...why would they start now? Just take the loss, admit your guy is running on nothing and, therefore, had ...

Losing FaithJul 07, 2013
So many bad things are happening in my life right now including losing my home to foreclosure because of cuts in pay most MTs have experienced.  I feel helpless and hopeless.  I thought God would take care of his faithful children.  Ask and you shall receive.  Jesus came to earth so I might have a more abundant life.  So many people hurting I would like to help but I am unable to financially.  Just keeping my head barely above water and for the first time in my lif ...

I Posted Before About Losing My Son And I Know I GotDec 16, 2014
royally flamed (some troll saying I did not lose my son).  Anyway, I had taken out a bank loan of $3000 to hire the first attorney that lied and cost me my son.  I actually got half that back and used that to hire this second attorney that I just now fired.  Why?  Because he has had a FULL month to do something (get us a court date, something) and he has done nothing.  I told him I am not going to pay him to do nothing, he has had a full month and done nothing, so yes I ...

Voting For Obama Is Like Losing Virginity?Oct 26, 2012
Wow...first it was vote like your lady parts depend on it and now we are losing our virginity when we vote for Obama.  Can democratic women think of anything besides their who-ninnies?  I find that much more offensive than binders of women.  At least those binders helped women get jobs.  Losing the V-card by voting for Obama is disturbing to say the least. If voting for Obama was like losing her virginity....her first time must have a big disappointment!  ...

GOP In GRAVE Danger Of Losing House In 2014Oct 06, 2013
Just like the last election, the GOP resides in sort of a bubble, and they actually think the rest of us are with them, when we're not. Report: Hillary 'physically Violent' After LosingNov 16, 2016

And it gets worse. According to sources cited by “The Kincannon Show” on radio, Hillary Clinton lost her composure entirely when her loss to Donald Trump ...

Jill Stein Fighting A Losing Battle...hopefully For Good!Dec 08, 2016
I think Jill should quit while she's still ahead with the $7.2 million in her pocket. She garnered 1 percent of Michigan's vote.  A federal judge halted the presidential vote recount in Michigan on Wednesday, ...

Mr. Bean Goes To Israel...smJul 29, 2012
Thus far, besides the fact that Romney has basically just thrown down the gauntlet to Iran (war..again..anyone?) and about half of the countries in the middle east is one statement in particular he made. No doubt the republican party thinks they are a ...
