Last month, a bipartisan commission went down in flames in the Senate after 7 republicans who sponsored the bill voted against it. Now, Obama is putting together a bipartisan commission and the republicans are still complaining it's not good enough.
Obama is telling them to come to the table and present their ideas. They are saying no. And then accusing him of not listening.
The problem seems to be that the republicans expect Obama to follow their platform (tax breaks for big business and the upper class). If he doesn't, they don't want to be any part of any other attempt at a solution. The American people elected Obama and a democratic majority in both houses. Why on earth would the republicans expect a purely republican platform to be followed? It has become obvious that if they can't get their way, they will try to make sure that nothing gets done to fix anything.
Is it any wonder the electorate is saying let's get on with it even if the elected republicans refuse to participate? Constant bashing without offering alternatives may get by on a message board, but it's not something we should accept from congress. That is the problem with the dems in congress. It is well past time that they start working to put their plans into play and stop trying to placate the republican members.

Six of the republican sponsors voted no, one missed the vote, and at least one who supported it before (not a sponsor) voted no once Obama supported it.
I know it's hard to keep all the no votes straight. There are so many of them. But this story is true even if Fox didn't cover it.
