Well, I'm so glad this Congress is being bipartisan

Posted: Jan 19, 2011

I'm listening to the health care repeal debate. Weiner, as usual, was a little hyperactive during his debate point.  The speakers I found most interesting were the doctors that have been elected to Congress. All of them are against the law the way it stands.

It just came across the bottom of the screen that if the health care repeal passes, REID will NOT schedule it on the Senate side.  That's like saying to heck with what the people want, (I don't want it and I won't allow it to come to a vote).  I know Obama has the power to veto and probably will, if it does pass, but Reid isn't even going to let that happen.  I thought this was America.

The only point the dems are making is about the pre-existing conditions and kids being allowed to be on their parent's insurance. The pubs are talking about the cost being higher than what was stated, doctor/patient changes, forced mandatory health insurance, states being unfunded for this package, and how the law could be made better. They talked about no measures for fraud or firvilous suits not being in this act, and this is one of the reforms they want in there.

Why don't they do the tort reform as a separate thingy? - nm

Whats more bipartisan than Boehner and Reid agreeing - to say no?

seems only right. Guess what? People on the left are American people, too.

Absolutely... - mmmmm

and guess what? A lot of those people on the left are against this health care bill, too.

Bipartisan LamentOct 29, 2012
I've been thinking about the latest twists and turns in American politics.  The vast problems facing the country as a whole and diametrically opposed Republican and Democrat Parties.  The intractable nature of the argument.  And here I am complaining about it and yet I'm just as partisan.  Anyone who's read my posts knows I'm a liberal, even though I view the Democratic Party as a massive failure.  I look at these two parties we have and shake my head ...

This Is A Bipartisan ProblemMay 15, 2017
We are going to advance ourselves right into oblivion if something doesn't stop this constant need for better and better technology.  Though I know it is human nature to want to make things better, I have noticed in my lifetime more and more dangerous situations created from advancing technology to the levels we have and are continuing to do. This article mentions the FBI, Homeland Security, etc., are all concerned at what is going on and how bad the situation is with cyberattacks.&nb ...

Bipartisan Deficit CommissionFeb 06, 2010
Last month, a bipartisan commission went down in flames in the Senate after 7 republicans who sponsored the bill voted against it. Now, Obama is putting together a bipartisan commission and the republicans are still complaining it's not good enough. Obama is telling them to come to the table and present their ideas. They are saying no. And then accusing him of not listening. The problem seems to be that the republicans expect Obama to follow their platform (tax breaks for big busines ...

I think we can all agree we have been duped by all our politicians at every level. I'm willing to bet most everyone knows someone who works construction who has been out of work at some poiint while foreign auto companies are bringing in construction workers from other countries to build auto plants.  This is a disgrace to say the least!  This has been going on for decades so includes both sides of the aisle and probaby in between.  These factories are creating jobs for aut ...

Healthcare's Bipartisan Problem. Almost Half Of Healthcare SpendingJan 13, 2017
healthiest half of the population consumes only 3% of health care costs. The only alternative would appear to be taxpayer subsidies. It is next to impossible, politically, to take away freebees once in place. Income redistribution continues to increase. The 2010 health law, also known as Obamacare, forced insurers to sell coverage to anyone, at the same price, regardless of their risk of incurring big claims. That provision was popular. Not so were rules requiring nearly everyone to have ins ...

Obama Goes To War Without CongressMar 21, 2011
Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution specifies that it is the Congress that has the power to declare war.  United States Code (50 U.S.C. 1541-1548), the War Powers Act, specifically states that the president may undertake the use of military force only in the case of "... a national emergency created by attack upon the United States, its territories or possessions, or its armed forces."  It further states that the President must consult with Congress, "...in every possible instance ...

So Sick Of Congress!Jul 17, 2012
Aren't they supposed to be working for us not against us?  Why does each side think it's okay to take the American people hostage as long as it furthers thier agenda?  It's not just the tax cuts that will expire, but it also puts into motion the defense cuts that were never supposed to happen, which could put more than 1 million people out of work.  I think every single one of them should forfeit thier paycheck until they come up with a plan that helps everyone, not ...

I posted this as a response on another thread, but I think it deserves it's own thread.  It very clearly lays out our 113th congress' lack of productivity and some of the records it is breaking--for instance, the record of the 112th congress of passing the least number of bills since the 1940's. As we were losing jobs, certain members congress were formulating a plan to block, filibuster and obstruct any legislation the president approved of.  Pete Sessions had the ner ...

Changing The Channel On Congress.May 12, 2017
watching the Senate intelligence committee hearings Thursday morning, I got so frustrated I started looking for a good cartoon show. What's so aggravating about these staged Congressional hearings is that you know what the Republicans and the Democrats are going to say before you even turn on the TV.
