How much is this going to cost the taxpayers? I don't think Obama realizes this is such a drain on not only the cash aspect, but also the Border Patrol Agents can't even do their assigned job.

Plus, any illegal that has relatives in this country are given a bus ticket to anywhere in the country to go to their relatives...on the position that they have to show up for a hearing in so many days. Does the government really think those illegals are going to show up for a hearing?

In fact, ICE has been flying plane loads to Massachusetts. “There are a number of concerns,” said Jessica Vaughn spokesperson for the Center for Immigration Studies, adding that the crisis at the border is distracting U.S. agencies from their regular mission to deport illegal immigrants convicted of crimes.

Recent reports found that in May, ICE released 36,000 immigrants with criminal convictions into communities for a number of reasons, Vaughn said.

“This influx of people is a direct result of recent policies,” she said. “According to border patrol’s own intelligence, what the immigrants are telling them, is that they’re coming now because there’s a new law that gives them permission to stay.”

Biden is adding Guatamala to his Latin America visit this week. “He will make clear that the recently arriving children are not eligible for [deferred action on deportation] or earned citizenship provisions in current immigration reform legislation,” the aide said. “The bottom line is that it’s not worth subjecting children to a perilous journey when, at the end of the day, there is no light at the end of the tunnel.”

The message comes as critics say the administration has encouraged the new tide of illegal immigration through policies such as the Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals, signed in 2012 to grant relief from deportation proceedings for illegal child immigrants who pursue education or join the U.S. military, and lax border enforcement.

They should shut the border totally down until Obama takes care of this problem. I also understand that some adults are coming across the Rio as passengers on jet skis and waiting for the Border Patrol to take them in....thinking they now have a free pass to live here.

I don't live in Texas so I would not presume to know what Governor Perry does or does not do for illegal immigrants. However, I do live in a different state in a border city and I do know what happens and the absolute atrocity of American tax dollars being spent on illegals for medical care, housing, food stamps, child care, education, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc. It goes on and on and on. The federal government reimburses the states for the costs incurred for everything I've mentioned and everything you've mentioned, so every American taxpayer is funding the lifestyle of the illegal alien. Because we are a generous country with a HUGE humanitarian heart, we take care of indigent people and I'm all for helping people, but NOT as a way of life and NOT when it is a preventable matter, as this most certainly is. If our borders were CLOSED, we would not be having this issue. Doesn't it make you wonder why Napolitano, former governor of Arizona and then head of Homeland Security, is now president of the UC system? You should not speak of things of which you know naught!

I am from Texas, and I used to work with the Governor of Texas, and believe me when I tell you that you don't just flip a switch and shut that whole border down.

Besides, what part of the statement Rick Perry wants the illegals here because they actually MAKE the State of Texas more than they cost is confusing? If he didn't want them here, he wouldn't approve of all those freebies going to them.

Understand that Rick Perry wants it both ways, please. He wants to make the voters happy by saying he wants what they want, but big business and the state want them and willingly subsidize them because they're cheap labor.

Almost everything in politics boils down to "follow the money."

The corporations want cheap labor. The corporations give the politicians lots of money (corporations are people now, so says the Supreme Court). The politicians are owned by the billionaires and do what's in the billionaires' best interests. The politicians walk a fine line saying one thing while doing another.

Why else pay for all those things for illegals if not to encourage border crossings?

It's a sad fact when our lawmakers look our citizens right in the eye and say they want border control and then complain about their opponents not closing the borders, when that is, in fact, exactly the opposite of what they actually want. If they make big business happy, they're going to enrage the citizens and vice versa. So they lie like the devil and are in favor of amnesty/path to citizenship and pass legislation in the state that gives education grants to illegals (limited funds that are thus then NOT available for actual Texans) and also pay for health care and all manner of various assorted benefits.

They tell the citizens one thing while doing exactly the other to please their billionaire donors. It's pitiful.

The good news?! They spar incessantly over this immigration issue in the Republican debates, and it helps democrats. They have to move so far to the right on the issue that they turn off the majority of the country, around 65% to 70% (depending on poll wording) and not really changing over time, who actually do favor immigration reform of some sort or other.

Look for these hypocrits to go even further to the right-wing edge than ever before in future presidential debates and bludgeon each other to death in the Republican primaries whilst simultaneously turning off the majority of voters at the same time. When they then try to pivot back to the middle in the general presidential election, no one believes a word they say on the issue. Should be really fun to watch!
