Undocumented Immigrants (ILLEGAL ALIENS) Line Up for Door Opened by Obama

LOS ANGELES — They pushed strollers, tugged toddlers and streamed into the convention center in the heart of this city on Sunday, thousands of immigrants here illegally and anxious to find out if they could gain protection from deportation under executive actions by President Obama.

The crowd, waiting in a long snaking line to check in, was drawn by an information session organized by advocacy groups offering people initial assessments to see if they meet the requirements to apply to stay in the country and work. The day became a kind of coming-out party for about 5,000 unauthorized immigrants, the largest gathering in the country of people who might qualify for temporary protection since the president’s announcement last month.

Delfina Ibarra, 40, from Mexico, was taking in information while nursing a 17-month-old, Kimberly, the newest citizen in the family. Ms. Ibarra, who has lived in California for 23 years, said she also has a 21-year-old son who is a citizen. She said that without documents, she has been limited to cleaning houses and packing crates in industrial distribution centers. With a legal deferral document and a work permit, Ms. Ibarra said, she could get a driver’s license and go back to school.

“It’s never too late to start again,” she said, laughing and holding up her baby.

This massive invasion of illegal aliens is no laughing matter if you are a hardworking, tax-paying legal American citizen.

If a few more Walmart owners were put in jail over this, the immigration problem would be over.

A few years ago police raided some Swift meatpacking plants in Iowa and Minnesota and around the Midwest. In this raid alone thousands of illegals were discovered. Many were deported.

How did these illegals find out they were wanted at those factories and apparently never had to provide legitimate documentation? You can be sure this was an organized attempt by Swift to find cheap workers. I believe they got a fine that amounted to a slap on the wrist and NO ONE from the corporation went to jail.

and graduates, and many own their own businesses. They will now be able to come out of the shadows, certainly able to pay their own way, including taxes, and in no way dependent. Colorado have passed laws granting in-state tuition to public state-run colleges and universities for undocumented residents of their states. These were the only cases that I could find. They were not granted any extra privilege that citizen residents did not already have. Do you have anything to add?

Good deal. It is wonderful this great country is able to give hope to so many, to those that came here for a brighter and safer future. It is truly amazing what most Americans can and are willing to do for their fellow human beings and, if you are Christian, just what Jesus would have done, opened their hearts, their homes, their country. Jesus would not have put restrictions on helping the less fortunate. Humane and humanity, what wonderful gifts we have been given, because truly you cannot really know the worth of a person until you can see how far and what they are willing to do for others.
