I am planning a day trip to NYC on Saturday, Nov 5th. I have been to NYC many times, mainly with my girlfriends to shop and eat. This year, I would like to take my family, which includes my husband and 3 sons - ages 9 through 14.
I'm looking for suggestions as to what to do and see, as I know they would not enjoy shopping the entire day. I had hoped to see the Rockettes, but their show doesn't start until the following Saturday and there's no way to reschedule our trip.
I'm thinking about taking them to see a Broadway show. The Wicked is playing and I think they would enjoy that, as they have watched the Wizard of Oz many times. My only issue is the price for 5 of us would be pretty hefty. I had hoped to get standby tickets for the Rockettes since it was so early in the season, but I don't know if they offer the same for the Broadway shows or not.
Does anyone know of discounted tickets for Broadway shows? I'm checking Ebay, but they're still about $100 a seat. Is that a good price? Anyone have any other suggestions about things to do on a day trip in NYC with 3 boys? I've thought about the stadium and the Statute of Liberty. Just looking for some other suggestions or tips. We are going by bus and being dropped off somewhere downtown around 10 or 11. I'm familiar with using the subway if needed. I just have to be careful to be back in time for the bus, usually by 6:00 p.m.
Thanks for any suggestions or tips!
