What noises make you cringe?

I am sitting here going bonkers listening to this doctor suck on hard candy while dictating. My mother has a tendency to do this while I'm on the phone with her and lately I've taken to hanging up on her or telling her to call me back when she is finished with her Jolly Rancher. Also can't stand the sound of silverware against porcelain plates - like nails on a chalkboard to me! I think this job has made me noise intolerant. What about the rest of you? Is there a noise that makes your skin crawl?

[ In Reply To ..]I used to get a doctor all the time who would be sniffling/snorting mucus throughout the whole dictation. It was so disgusting. I also cannot stand it when people chew with their mouths open, especially while dictating.

[ In Reply To ..]I used to have a doc who would yawn constantly through his dictation, and it was a weird yawn too. Not like anything I've ever heard.
The worst thing for me is the beepers and cellphones. They let them go on forever! I hate when the beeper goes off and you can hear them pull it out and hold it up to look at it and keep on dictating through that awful shrill noise...still beeping. Why don't they turn it off and then look at it? Very un-thoughtful (which I why I hate it so much).
Gum chewing, smacking, popping - dizzy

2. Noise booming from cars going by our house. It's not even music, its just noise. Makes my nervous system jumbled.
3. Diesel vehicles left to sit idle while it rumbles for a long time.
4. Speed boats jetting up and down the river while the crowd of idjits go oooooh...ahhhhh. The noise of the motor makes my skin crawl.
5. A dentist drill.
6. Motorcycles - falls in line with the speed boats.
Leaf blowers and chain saws. That noise takes me - "from zero to bee-yotch" in just 2 secon

Tin can lids scraping against the inner rim - when you open the can and remove the lid
[ In Reply To ..]I try to squeeze the can as much as I can to create enough of a gap that it doesn't scrape, and I will always choose the ring-top opening cans whenever possible.
And yeah... kids that screech just for the pure joy (theirs) of screeching. I know that's a kid thing and they just do that, but it makes me want to throttle them.

Is this a result of being inside working so much, OCD, or a combination of both! I have noticed as I am getting older and now working at home for 17 years, it is getting worse. Anybody else??
