Rest in peace Liz Taylor

Liz Taylor passed. I was watching a show last night about "best movies of all time". They named "Gone with the Wind" as the best. I don't think there was a Liz Taylor movie.
Then I heard about Ms. Taylor's passing today. It made me kind of melancholy.
Remember when actors and actresses actually had to have talent? They had to sing and dance and be able to ACT. Today, it seems there is so much gratuitous sex and violence and a plethora of no experienced ninnies that can't sing, dance much less act. Our younger generations missed out. Nothing is left to the imagination anymore. Perhaps that is why our society is so sex driven. So sad.
Hollywood is dead. I am sad that people like Will Ferrell, Zac Efron, Eva Longoria and Jessica Simpson are considered "talent". Nothing will ever replace hollywood of old. It is obvious too, they keep trying to re-make classics, often times with disasterous results. I don't think I even want to see the new Great Gatsby! How many times has that been re-made!

[ In Reply To ..]I read about her passing somewhere (can't remember)and what stuck in my head was that he said Elizabeth Taylor was a star, not a celebrity. No one will ever come close. She's probably having a celebratory brandy with Richard Burton or singing with Michael Jackson right now. God bless her for the work she did for AIDS.

I realized today how much our own identity is linked with those who were a part of our lives in the early years, whether it be family or those we read about and saw at the movies. As each leaves this plane, things no longer seem familiar and reassuring in the way they once did. I hope there's a life after this existence and that Elizabeth has reunited with those she lost while here. She was beautiful and rich and famous, but her life was hard in its way too. We will miss you, Elizabeth.
