Early Birdies

Posted: Oct 18, 2015

Good morning.  Anyone else out there up and working at this early hour?  I'm a total early bird and can't work after it gets dark outside (at night), though the early-morning darkness doesn't bother me.  Just saying hello and wondering if there are any other fellow early birdies up and at them this morning.

I'm up but not at 'em...SM - Old Anon

I have a cat named Fred who wakes me up at the crack of dawn to go out all year long. During the cold weather, I stay up because he doesn't stay out too long and actually knocks (bats the door with his paw) to come back in. I have a metal door and a storm door, so putting a pet door is not feasible. I could hire someone to install one through the walls of the house, but that would be an expensive proposition. I don't start work until 2 p.m., so while I'm up early, I come here, check my email, drink a gallon of coffee, do chores/laundry, meet friends for breakfast, and read. My mornings are like other people's nights, and I like it that way. Works for me.

I too was - up

well, "awake" at around 3 am. I have two cats who desire for me to be up and feed them anywhere from 3 am to 6 am. I am the type of person who does not need an alarm clock to wake them up, as I tend to wake as soon as the horizon begins to be a little light. so in the summer, it is around 4:30-5:00 am and in the winter around 6 am. It I am not up by 6, and in the kitchen ready to feed my cats, one of them will leave a little "complaint" of vomiting on the floor. I know it is purposeful, as that is the only time he does it, if I am not up fast enough to feed him. I do like getting up early. I do like starting work early, although whether the work is there or not, is another subject. Most of the time not. I like to start early and finish early and have the rest of my day to myself. However, work sometimes has other plans for me, and even though I have a "schedule" that they want ME to adhere to, they sometimes have me work longer, if the work was not there early when it was time for me to start and I couldn't. As an IC, I don't think that is right, but once again, another subject.

have a good rest of your day!!

In my earlier years I went to work at 5. Now only so many hours per week of work and I start my day at 12 noon. I feel so much better because sleep until I want and then night time is spent watching recorded shows such as ID channel and others. I also have issues with sleeping, waking several times during the night so the ability for me to sleep later is good for me.

I love getting up early in the morning before dawn and not working past noon. Unfortunately, my current job doesn't allow that type of schedule and I certainly miss it. When I retire, I intend to go back to getting up around 3AM again. Early in the am is so much more quiet around my neighborhood and a great time to read, write, think, work on crafts, etcetera. If it were my choice, my working hours would be 3AM-noon.

I definitely am - anon

I start working within an hour after I wake up ... which could be as early as 1 a.m.

My shift is 4 to 12 p.m. Get up at 3, shower, dress, start coffee, let the dog out, and then I on this danged computer for hours. the more I do this, the more I hate it. I am normally a morning person, but this job has me so burnt out.

Early Birds?Dec 27, 2013
Just curious if there are any other early birds out there?  I start working around 4 a.m. every day.  I'm more focused in the morning and work better getting an early start.  When I tell people what time of day I start work, they think it's crazy.  I know I'm not the majority, but just curious if there's anyone else on this type of schedule. And good morning! ...

I'm An MT Who Took Early RetirementMay 25, 2017
I have arthritis in my hands and back, progressive eye problems and high blood pressure.  After losing several close family members who were in their early 70s, I became extremely depressed working for one of the MTSOs, and I decided I should make the best of my remaining life and decided to take the early retirement to ease the pressure.    My part time IC job and retirement income is about $22,000 a year and I have a tiny nest egg stashed away for emergencies.   My plan wa ...

Even Though It's Early, Brown Is Winning In MA Jan 19, 2010
I'm hoping he keeps his lead and wins. Fresh faces would be good start. Shake up all those who think they have a job for life. 52.5% Brown by 46.4% Coakley. Hopefully, ACORN will not be involved in this election. If they are, then Coakley will win. Then I hope a recount is called. Hopefully, the Pittsburgh people will wise up if Murtha is up for re-election.  One of the most crooked of 'em all. ...

Anyone Else Like Working Early MorningsAug 19, 2012
Just wondering if I'm the only one who enjoys getting up early and working?  Most people I know think that's crazy to want to get up early, especially on weekends.  I am most productive very early in the morning and lose my steam by the mid afternoon.  I know I can't be the only one, but maybe we are just few and far between?  I always hear, "If I did your job, I would stay up late and work."  Um, no.  Not me.  I would fall asleep at the keyboard ...

Question To Those Who Voted Early...Nov 08, 2016
I voted early and I really wish I hadn't voted at all.  Neither candidate is worthy of the office of the president.  Anybody else wishing they either hadn't voted or had voted for the "other one?"  I don't care which way, just wondering how many have buyer's remorse now. ...

FBI Director Firing In Early 90s Had Some Similarities To May 11, 2017
Less than a year into the new president's administration, the FBI director was fired. His conduct had been scrutinized before the election, but when the opposition party won, it took months for him to be out of a job. William S. Sessions, fired in July 1993, was until Tuesday the only FBI director dismissed in the middle of a 10-year term. He claimed politics led to his ouster, a view held to this day by some supporters. There are many similarities between President Bill Clinton' ...

Two Part Question - First Album, Fav Bands Of 70s/early 80sNov 21, 2009
1.  What was the first single (45), 8 track, album or CD you bought with your own money?  Most of you probably won't know this one but mine was "Billy Don't Be a Hero" by Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods.  It was a 45.  It came out around the Viet Nam war era so I assume that's what it was about. 2. Stark Early Prediction: Trump Is Our Next President.Jul 29, 2016
There are very few political models that take EVERYTHING into account or that have been adjusted to reflect the OUTSIDER mood of the nation. *Hillary Clinton was not "the woman" for this cycle.  *White males will tip the scales on this one, and Hillary ain't high on their list. Men Who Comment On Women's Weight Have A Tendency For Early MortalitySep 28, 2016
The OP subject is an old joke on social media, but it is not a joke when you are the subject on comments such as what Trump has made about women.   I think most women understand the insecurity about their bodies that gets instilled in us as children.   If you don't understand, there are all kinds of psychological articles available on the subject.   Definitely not someone who should be president.   ...

Fantastic Meteor Shower Early Tuesday MorningNov 16, 2009
For those interested, there is supposed to be a fantastic meteor shower display peaking from 1 am to daylight on early Tuesday morning.  This is the Leonid shower which occurs about every 33 years.  My sons and I have stayed up and watched them before, and we were not disappointed in the past.  I just hope the weather is right.  We live in the country and this affords a wonderful view.   ...

I Am Praying For An Early Guilty Verdict For Casey AnthonyJul 05, 2011
Watching verdict watch today, I just hope the jurors come back today to show Casey Anthony what they think of her and her shady attorney, Jose Baez, who maligned everyone connected with the prosecution case and was willing to accuse her father of incest in the most crude way during opening statements.  Did Baez just take this third version of what happened to Caylee at face value from Casey, the psychopathic liar, and run with it, hoping to become rich and famous lawyer? What proo ...
