Dryer died, need new one, and advice

My dryer died, of course in the middle of two loads of laundry. I was hoping to get some opinions on new dryers, and the brands I am looking at in particular are Bosch, LG and whirlpool. Electric, but gas reviews would be good, as well, for durability, etc.

Old one is GE, and I wouldn't take a free one if I won it in a contest.

I have not owned an LG dryer, but I have an LG refrigerator that is only 2 years old and has had several repair calls already. (Rattling noises that get fixed but then return due to plastic parts that break and allow other parts to move and rattle.) I've had whirlpool washer and dryer which have served well. Just replaced the 18 year old washer with a new frontloader last year. Love it! The dryer is now 10 years old. I've always had a gas dryer. I hear gas are much cheaper to run than electric dryers, but never having an electric dryer, I don't know. My mother-in-law has only had electric dryers because she's afraid of gas dryers. (She's afraid of a lot of things, including crockpots.) It seems to me that her electric dryers have had more service and have not lasted as long as my gas dryers. (I've owned 2 in 25 years.) I don't remember what brand she owns, however.

Oh, and in nice weather, I hang my laundry. I'm trying to be more "green".

Electric - I had a GE. It takes about 1.5 hours to dry towels, heavy clothes, but clothes do dry. Supposedly costs a fortune to run on a daily basis with a growing family. I never paid much attention to the actual electic usage, so I can't tell you if that part was true or not.

Gas - Dry clothes in 45 mins. My mom has had her GE dryer for close to 30 years now. She's made repairs to it over the years and also had service on it, which is expected for such an old appliance, but that machine is still working today. *jinx*

Steam - I currently own an LG washer/steam dryer dryer combo for a little over a year. My towels and heavier clothes take forever and a day to get dry, they sometimes even come out much too damp and need to be hung or tossed back in for another hour of drying in which they still come out damp. lol For the convenience of not having to haul laundry between floors and not having room for 2 separate appliances, I can deal with the damp clothes taking forever to dry.
Steam dryer also requires cold water supply to be running (at least mine does).

If I had a choice, I'd go with a gas dryer, just so I'd be able to get the laundry over with quicker.

Drying towels with an electric dryer never took more than 50-60 minutes for me, but I've never had any other kind of dryer.

I've heard gas dryers are quick, but I've never liked the idea of them as I always fear they'll catch on fire.

In over 30 years, I have never used another brand or power supply. The only service I had on any of them was routine maintenance, wear and tear, and the only reason I ever got a new one was because I moved and left the old one behind.

All my appliances are Whirlpool and all have given excellent perfomance and longevity. I am brand-loyal to Whirlpool, always will be.

Gas is cleaner, faster, and more efficient than electric. Same for stoves.

Dryers are easy to fix compared to washers.

Dryers are basically belts and heaters. Replace both and you have a new dryer. Replace one part at a time and you have a bargain.

I've been going to Alcoholic's Anonymous and have been sober for amost 9 years. During that time, we've been fortunate enough not to lose any of our members to death. Hi all, I just needed a little advice. My sister called me last night and asked me to watch my 2yo niece while she and her husband and her 13yo daughter went on a cruise in June.
