What would you do? Our cat attacked my husband tonight, and now he wants to get rid of the cat.
We found the cat seven years ago in a park. He was really dehydrated and had an injured leg. We took him home and brought him inside. The vet thought he was probably around a year old at that time. He also was not neutered. My husband refused to get the cat neutered because he was not a kitten, so he said it wouldn't help with spraying, etc. and it would just change the personality of the cat.
I can't quite remember how long we had had him, but I would say not more than a year, when I had taken him outside (we only let him go out if someone was with him) and when brought him back inside, he was obviously not ready to come in because he got really upset and started howling at me. Then, he jumped up and pretty much looked like he was jumping right at my throat. I grabbed a pillow off the bed and smacked him with the pillow mid flight so I wouldn't get attacked. The cat ran into the other room and was fine after that. My husband just laughed about the whole thing. Other than sometimes trying to spray, we didn't really have any other problems with him for a several years.
Last year, he attacked me again. This time, he came in at my leg and bit me a couple times. I got out of the room and shut him in there and then he was fine after a while. My husband again just laughed about it and said he was probably just trying to play, which he absolutely was not. He has grabbed onto my leg sometimes, rolling over on his back and just grabbing on with his paws or swatting at me, but not in a vicious manner. This was totally not like that at all.
So, tonight, my husband said the cat attacked him for no reason. He says he was just sitting there watching TV and the cat jumped up on the chair next to him and bit him several times. He does have probably about 12 puncture marks on his arm. He is saying we need to get rid of the cat. I'm really upset. I understand that the cat was bad, but when it happened to me, my husband just said I must have done something, but now that it is him, it is a whole different story.
Sorry if I'm rambling, but I've gotten attached to the cat and I'm really upset.
