I don't recall anyone saying that this was in the Bible. I remember hearing it said as I was growing up, I think it is a generational thing starting with people who lived through the Depression in the 20s and 30s. I don't want to judge and I don't know if Wendy was lying but there's something odd about the story. Go Fund Me shut her down; I don't think they do that unless there is justifiable reason. I tried to help her in other ways by making numerous suggestions in regard to things she might try to get herself off the street, and I honestly think that some of it would have worked, but she didn't want to try any of it, and shamed me on Go Fund Me for saying that there was anything she could do to help herself. The melanoma story doesn't ring true but that is just my opinion. If she is not telling the truth about that, shame on her. According to one of her stories early on, she is a Canadian citizen who owes the IRS thousands of dollars and at one point had been married to a very wealthy man and posted pictures of where she used to live. Maybe those who really know her or have worked with her have ways of keeping in touch with her. It is interesting, to say the least; people certainly have the right to be skeptical.
