Bedbug infestations and rodents coming into one’s living space at night can become public health issues. She delivers food to people out of that van, which is disgusting in and of itself considering that it is where she sleeps, changes clothes and feeds her animals. My ideas were similar to yours; a room somewhere, perhaps trading clerical work or light housekeeping in exchange for a motel room. At 62, it would probably be difficult to get hired, but there are free worker retraining programs in most states, and I would guess that Florida has help for those who want it. She called me out on Go Fund Me for making suggestions in regard to things she might try. I’m sorry you had a bad experience with your donations; I didn’t realize she had reopened her account. $1100 a month may not stretch as far as she had hoped, but something part time and more steady than food delivery would supplement that nicely and probably get her off the streets. I get the impression that her life coping skills weren’t great to begin with. If she trusted any of her acquaintances well enough, they might even pool their resources and get a place together. I try not to be judgmental, but at some point she needs to step up. I am the OP and believe in the power of prayer, but as someone said, “God helps those who help themselves.”
