Those who have applied for early retirement at age 62 - when do your payments start? sm

Posted: Jun 20th, 2019 - 1:10 pm

Does it take a while to process the paperwork, a few months or so?   I believe you can start it and apply 3 months before your birthdate?

Once you're approved, then when do the payments start?   Do you get retroactive to your birth month if there's any time delay in processing?

Does it usually approve right away?   Your birth date is pretty hard to lie about, so it's easily proven that you're eligible when you turn 62.

Basically, when does it start paying, is what I'm trying to say.   Thanks.
