Not OP or anyone who has responded here, but glad you cleared up that you CAN WORK, but there's a catch. Some people tend to say you're not allowed to work. Incorrect. YES, you can work, but there will be $1 taken out of every $2 you make, over a certain amount.
Also, and this is important, you have to check exactly what the current window is to apply. When my husband applied way back, you could do it 6 months in advance. When I did it, it was 4 months in advance. Now, I am reading here, that it's 3 months.
Best advice is to go onto the SS website, sign up, and READ ALL THE CURRENT RULES. They change.
Also, know that SS people are not permitted to give advice on what is best for your situation. You need to educate yourself, then take it from there. They are only there to tell you the current rules.
