One of the points brought up in this post was that with national healthcare, innovation would come to a halt.

This is an older article but it is showing quite the opposite.  I just thought it was worth posting.

;

This is also an - article showing

why the ACA is not working as it was meant to - it makes perfect sense because of the changes made to the risk corridor! Not trying to blame one side or other, but it shows why it isn't working for everyone.

Though you are being kind and not blaming - one side or the other

[ In Reply To ..]
The right is responsible for the failing ACA. They want it to fail and always have because it was labeled Obamacare. Kind of silly but true. They don't care about us.

Democrat lies. I love hyperbole! Democrats can't - afford for Obamacare to fail

[ In Reply To ..]
because that's his legacy.

Democrats gifted us with Obamacare.

That being said, a friend of mine just passed away from cancer he had been battling for a year.

He had an Obamacare Health-care HMO Plan. Cheap monthly premium and a $6400 deductible.

I guess in the left's world, nobody with Obamacare actually dies.

Meanwhile, my husband and I diligently pay our $2000 health care premium the first of every month. But with our $6500 deductible we won't be able to afford it anyway.

Do you think your friend would have been - any better before ACA?
[ In Reply To ..]
If the ACA was not here, he may have not been able to get insurance at all. We always had deductibles. I have a deductible and it doesn't mean they don't cover things until that is paid. It depends on what you have done and a percentage of that is your deductible. No different than before ACA. Are you in a state where the governor did or didn't take the expansion?
Does it matter? He still died. He did have insurance - before but he lost his doctor
[ In Reply To ..]
due to Obamacare and was forced in the marketplace.
Does what matter? I'm sorry about your - friend but I don't really
[ In Reply To ..]
see how he would have lived longer if we didn't have the ACA. Cancer is a horrible disease that kills many all the time. There are many, though, that would not have had insurance before the ACA because of preexisting conditions.

I was referring to the price of your insurance and the deductible on my question about if your governor did or didn't take the expansion. If that is what you mean by "Does it matter" yes it does matter.
I am sorry for your - friend.
[ In Reply To ..]
That is something that is always hard to hear. My dad died of cancer in 1978 and all he ever talked about was maybe they would find a cure - here we are almost 40 years later...Your premiums are really high. I still think though that these higher premiums are depending on the state you live in. I live in New Mexico and my husband and I pay about $1000 a month with a $2000 deductible. My husband is diabetic and we don't get the subsidy. The powers that be really need to come up with something that will make it more affordable for all of us!
You might find this interesting. "You calso can't keep - your doctor" Real cancer patient

speaks about death panels.

"I had great cancer doctors and health insurance. My plan was cancelled. Now I worry how long I'll live."
Before obamacare my husband needed a hip replacement - and our insurance and
[ In Reply To ..]
medical care were fantastic and responsive. Now that he needs care for cancer, we are getting the run-around, non-answers, appointments three weeks in the future and no call-backs. He says it’s due to Obamacare and bureaucracy.

So petty of them - They really don't care about us

[ In Reply To ..]
Just because a nickname of Obamacare was given, these grown-ups would rather fail the entire country than work on a structure that is in place and could be changed much more easily and quickly than dragging us all through their little temper tantrum. Many times the other side has offered to work and help change it, but these petty little people want nothing but to dismantle everything about the last administration, even going so far as to claim the Dems refused to work on it. Cowardly lies.
What Americans care about, jobs, affordable healthcare, - freedom, national security,
[ In Reply To ..]
immigration.

What the media cares about Russia, Russia, Russia.

What Hollywood cares about: identity politics and climate change.

what far leftist care about, portraying their political foes as "people who don't care about me"

Who wants the country to fail? It's the Left.

Sick to death of this crap, trying to lie to create an alternate reality.
You forgot - about the
[ In Reply To ..]
far righties who care about lining the rich people's pockets because they are the "job creators", making sure they can buy a darned tank because the second amendment says they can, and of course not paying for a woman's birth control, pregnancy, or abortion! She just needs to keep her legs together!

It is not kindness, - just looking at

[ In Reply To ..]
what could have worked, but didn't because it was booby trapped to fail. I don't care what side did what - what I do care about is the fact that these Elected Officials play games with people's lives. This country is going to have to do something soon in order to make sure its citizens can stay healthy or they won't have anybody left to govern and pay those taxes. This was a workable solution that could have been a foundation for good healthcare in this country. But because all of these posturing numbskulls have to pretend they are still in high school competing against the opposing team, we can't get anything done in Washington. Fire them all, I say! Maybe we should come up with the American party for next elections that puts up people who really give a damn about this country - not democrat or republican!
I'm all for getting rid of all of them but it is - still the pubs fault the ACA
[ In Reply To ..]
is failing.

It was always called ACA by most until the media - Truthhurts

[ In Reply To ..]
started calling it Obamacare. Congress always called it the ACA. Case in point is how they're trying to call the Republican health care bill which is really AHCA but they started calling it Trumpcare.

Doesn't ring a catchy name like Obamacare. The media is trying hard to come up with a better name for it if it gets off the ground. :)

With socialize health care who can afford technology - anyway?

[ In Reply To ..]
"However, cost remains a concern for NHS. Managing director of Pfizer in Britain Jonathon Emms wrote last year that while medical innovation is surging, Britain is slow to implement new treatments, blocking some new treatments in an effort to keep costs down.

NIH is simply a top down, top heavy bureaucracy - that gets "grants" or taxpayer money

[ In Reply To ..]
No everything they do is innovative.

A "resistance" researcher got $43,000 to study "health status of gender minorities"

More headline:

NIH funded research why lesbians are fat.

Grants to run shrimps on hamster mills.

One of the companies identified as a fetal tissue supplier in Planned Parenthood counts two federal health agencies among its customers, earning at least $300,000 had contracts since 2009 with the National Institutes of Health.

They push global warming.

There are about 70,000 people employed at the main NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland. Can you name anything they have done to significantly advance medicine? Most of their budget goes to funding external researchers (academia).

These “research” science agencies do not want to find a cure for some diseases, they state they want to manage certain diseases such as cancer. Think what would happen it someone discovered a CURE and preventive for cancer. What would happen financially to the medical industry... treatment centers, hospitals, testing agencies... and what would we do with all the living people. How long have we been giving to cancer research?

It's designed not to work, put insurance companies out of - business, then go to single payer.

[ In Reply To ..]
But it's imploding and the Democrats don't want to be blamed. They thought Hillary was going to win and it's imploding on schedule. They were going to come in and push single payer.

But since they aren't in office they have to demonize Republicans.

Obamacare is imploding BY DESIGN.

Not true! - It would have

[ In Reply To ..]
worked had the demonic republicans not pouted that they would do everything to stop it and put their booby traps in the risk corridor - Where are your savior republicans with their much highly screached repeal and replace with something better????? Nowhere as usual!

The ACA was a cash cow for the health insurance companies. sm - VTMT

[ In Reply To ..]
Repeal is what will put them out of business when people lose their insurance. Repeal would also close many rural hospitals and healthcare workers all over the country will lose their jobs.

If you don't believe - that, look up

[ In Reply To ..]
any major insurance company's CEO salary and annual bonuses - disgusting! Yet they moaned that they couldn't make a profit and bailed on the exchanges. Republicans have already proven they cannot come up with a better plan, even though they have had 7 years of promising they would, and will screw the American public once again!

That's why they signed on. They thought they were - going to sell many policies. Who

[ In Reply To ..]
wouldn't think that when the govt forces people to buy something that they sell.

There's one little problem. In order to cover everything that Obamacare mandates like pregnancy visits even if you are a man, you have to charge everyone out the wazoo. So who can afford it? We certainly can't.

The people getting subsidies are getting the most attention. The rich, well they can afford it. It's the forgotten man, those of us who don't qualify for subsidies who are caught in the middle.

So now they are going out of business. This was all predictable and was talked about years ago. No one listened then. Don't expect it now.

They are not going out of business. They have been living with uncertainty... - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
with republicans threatening the repeal for seven years, and now maybe imminent, they will be losing many policy holders with repeal. If the insurance companies all go out of business because the ACA is repealed, the only option left will be universal health care or Medicare for all.

Exactly! Get as many people on the govt as possible, - collapse the system then

[ In Reply To ..]
come in with single payer. Van Jones admitted this was the plan

It's called Cloward and Piven

Right's Response To SummitFeb 26, 2010
The talking point distributed on Fox was that the summit was "boring."  It is a major flaw, I guess, of this presidency that Obama does not make his meetings on crucial legislation interesting enough to entertain the opposition. Awwww.  In other words - look away - the right came off badly and Obama's directness, honesty and tendency to point out political posturing triumphed again.   ...

Some of our posts were deleted and I just wanted to answer one specific question you asked me before you had to leave.  You asked me if I would be angry and/or upset if, God forbid, President Obama was assassinated. I will never condone, encourage, or rejoice in the assassination of our president.  To wish death upon our president is extremist behavior and I do not condone those who called for Bush's death nor do I condone those who call for Obama's death.  I know I ow ...

In Response To Below Re: Why Are You Voting For TrumpJul 24, 2016
It is painfully obvious that President Obama used the tools he had available in order to do something. Unfortunately, the only thing republicans (the ones in control of congress) know is dictatorship - they know nothing about real life and how one has to compromise. I do it all day, every day in my life or I would not have a job let alone a husband or relationships. When you lose at a game or an election, you then have to play fair. They have acted like spoiled little losers and it makes me asha ...

My thoughts exactly. Absolutely impossible to post anything on this board that might in the least be able to be twisted into a negative against Pres Obama. The Tolerance Thread/response/re Byrd/one PersonMar 19, 2013
It seems to have disappeared.  I'm not going to inquire about why it's gone, but I did want to repost my reply regarding associating modern-day Democrats with Byrd and the fact that there was only one person caught making a statement on tape.  --Byrd  was over 40 years ago. Surely we can't use Robert Byrd and other racist Southern Democrats circa pre-1960s as examples of who modern day Democrats identify with, no more than we could use Lincoln as a modern day R ...

Republicans Mull Response To Obama On ImmigrationNov 15, 2014
WASHINGTON (AP) — House Republicans debated Friday how to respond to President Barack Obama's expected executive action on immigration, with GOP leaders anxious to craft a solution that satisfies the demands of their most conservative members without courting a government shutdown. Another option would be to pass a temporary spending bill into next year when the GOP will control the Senate, to try to see if Republicans can use their grip on the purse strings to gain leverage over the ...

Funny, The Difference Between Charleston's Response To The Church IncidentJun 23, 2015
Wonderful how the community came together - people of alll races, political persuasions, etc.  After Ferguson, etc., it was the most amazing display I think I've seen of this type in a pretty long lifetime.
