More Good News! Jobs Up, Deficit Down!

Posted: Oct 7, 2012

The Congressional Budget Office has released its estimate for the fiscal year 2012, just ended on September 30 and the news is good. The federal deficit was just under $1.1 trillion, compared to just under $1.3 trillion at the end of fiscal year 2011, a reduction of $207 billion. As a percentage of the GDP, the 2012 deficit dropped to 7.0 per cent, down from 8.7 percent in 2011 and 9.0 percent in 2010. The actual deficit numbers will be released later this month by the Treasury Department

The September 2012 numbers show an increase in receipts of about $23 billion, or 9% higher than the same period a year ago and a decrease of $115 billion in spending.

Things are going to the right direction.

Since Obama took office in January 2009, the median household income has fallen 8.2%, from $55,198 to $50, 678.  This figure is also down 1.1% from the month prior.  Oh, and the people that think our country is on the wrong track is 56.5%.  I don't think your news is so good Obama supporter.

all those tax cuts to the rich corporations, who are using them for creating jobs (as the pubs want you to believe)are creating jobs in other countries, so they can pay less for jobs here, because there are so many people looking for the few scraps of work in this country and are desperate and taking work for less pay. Hey, lets cut taxes more for those generous corporations, so they can give more jobs to overseas workers and put bigger profits in their pockets and pay us even less.
NO, Liberty. It's that giant sucking sound of national - wealth being channeled to a few. I.e.,

Even Obama himself in the debate last week said Mitt will have a busy first day as President. Obama knows he is losing, and so it's time for you libs to do what Clint says, "It's OK to fire the empty-chair president." And now, your empty-chair president is taking campaign contributions {43%} from foreign countries...I'll bet you REALLY are disgusted with that.

Thank you.

BUT, they left out food and energy prices so that skewers the numbers a bit.. - backwards typist

[ In Reply To ..]
Hate to rain on your parade but:

"Excluding food and energy prices, the price index for gross domestic purchases increased 1.4 percent in the second quarter, compared with an increase of 2.4 percent in the first."
_____________
If you would include those two items, it would bring down the positive numbers. So, it's not really good news and those numbers will only slide as we get more into winter. Look at the price of gas now-almost $6 of not over $6 in the past 2 weeks. These numbers were not worked into this equation.

Be happy if the 3rd and 4th quarter GDP rises (including food and energy prices).
