This is from Deputy Speaker of the Knesset (Israel's parliament), dated July 15.  Maybe this provides a little insight.

Ambassador's complaint is that CNN is reporting the humanitarian side of the story, the fact that the civilians, particularly children, can't get away from this. There is nowhere to go.

She also asked him if after the 3 day warning, if they had checked to see if it was clear of children. He sort of side-stepped that. Israel has been giving ultimatums for years.

UN blasted for givign rockets found in Gaza - school to Hamas...
[ In Reply To ..]
The United Nations is facing tough criticism and allegations of major misconduct after caches of rockets were found hidden at a UN-run school in Gaza before reportedly being handed to terrorists, sparking a global scandal that threatens to further undermine the credibility of the dictator-dominated world body. Making matters even worse, after being found, the U.S. taxpayer-funded UN “Relief and Works Agency” (UNRWA) handed the deadly rockets over to Hamas, the terrorist group that runs Gaza with an iron fist and hides behind Arab civilians while firing thousands of rockets into Israel. Now the global outfit is complaining that its “schools” were hit by Israeli forces.

The first batch of deadly weapons were uncovered at the UNRWA-run Gaza “school” last week. Another, separate cache of rockets was found at a UN school on Tuesday of this week, too. In a statement, the UN agency claimed they were found “in the course of the regular inspection of its premises.” Instead of handing the rockets over to Israeli authorities, however, the outfit admittedly handed them to Hamas for “disposal,” according to news reports. Critics promptly cried foul, noting that Hamas would almost certainly launch the weapons at Israel. Thousands of rockets have already been fired at civilian targets in Israel amid the latest round of fighting.

Exclusive: Hamas has paid North Korea for missiles and communications equipment in arms deal worth hundreds of thousands of dollars

Hamas militants are attempting to negotiate a new arms deal with North Korea for missiles and communications equipment that will allow them to maintain their offensive against Israel, according to Western security sources.

Security officials say the deal between Hamas and North Korea is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and is being handled by a Lebanese-based trading company with close ties to the militant Palestinian organisation based in east Beirut.

Hamas officials are believed to have already made an initial cash down payment to secure the deal, and are now hoping that North Korea will soon begin shipping extra supplies of weapons to Gaza.

“Hamas is looking for ways to replenish its stocks of missiles because of the large numbers it has fired at Israel in recent weeks,” explained a security official. “North Korea is an obvious place to seek supplies because Pyongyang already has close ties with a number of militant Islamist groups in the Middle East.

I had never heard of this book, so I went to look it up. First thing I found was author Shmuel Katz, Israeli "prophet."  Hmm, click on biographical info, wikipedia is easiest (although not the most reliable, sometimes), then came to he emigrated from South Africa to Mandatory Palestine.  Interesting, let's see what it says about Mandatory Palestine.  The following, Wikipedia again, but I have no arguments.  The words "divided up," "captured territory," and "control" stick out.  Who was there first?  There are better sources, this was just the easiest.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandatory_Palestine

Mandatory Palestine (English: Palestine;[1] Arabic: فلسطينFilasţīn; Hebrew: פָּלֶשְׂתִּינָה (א"י) Palestína (EY), where "EY" indicates "Eretz Yisrael") was a geopolitical entity under British administration, carved out of Ottoman Southern Syria after World War I. British civil administration in Palestine operated from 1920 until 1948.

During the First World War an Arab uprising and British campaign led by General Edmund Allenby, the British Empire's commander of the Egyptian Expeditionary Force, drove the Turks out of the Levant, a part of which was the Sinai and Palestine Campaign.[2] The United Kingdom had agreed in the Hussein-McMahon Correspondence that it would honour Arab independence if they revolted against the Ottomans. The two sides had different interpretations of this agreement. In the event, the UK and France divided up the area under the Sykes-Picot Agreement, an act of betrayal in the opinion of the Arabs. Further confusing the issue was the Balfour Declaration promising support for a Jewish "national home" in Palestine. After the war ended, a military administration, named Occupied Enemy Territory Administration, was established in the  captured territory of the former Ottoman Syria. The British sought legitimacy for their continued control of the region and this was achieved by obtaining a mandate from the League of Nations in June 1922. The formal objective of the League of Nations Mandate system was to administer parts of the defunct Ottoman Empire, which had been in control of the Middle East since the 16th century, "until such time as they are able to stand alone."[3] The civil Mandate administration was formalized with the League of Nations' consent in 1923 under the British Mandate for Palestine, which covered two administrative areas. The land west of the Jordan River, known as Palestine, was under direct British administration until 1948, while the land east of the Jordan was a semi-autonomous region known as Transjordan, under the rule of the Hashemite family from the Hijaz, and gained independence in 1946.[4]

During the British Mandate period the area experienced the ascent of two major nationalist movements, one among the Jews and the other among the Arabs. The competing national interests of the Arab and Jewish populations of Palestine against both each other and the governing British authorities matured into the Arab Revolt of 1936–1939 and the Jewish insurgency in Palestine before culminating in the Civil War of 1947–1948. The aftermath of the Civil War and the consequent Arab-Israeli War of 1948 led to the establishment of the 1949 cease-fire agreement, with partition of the former Mandatory Palestine between the newborn state of Israel with a Jewish majority, the West Bank annexed by the Jordanian Kingdom and the Arab All-Palestine Government in the Gaza Strip under the military occupation of Egypt.

So you don't believe the Jewish guy but - you believe the Arab guy,
[ In Reply To ..]
The Jews were INVITED to reclaim the land of Israel by the League of Nations. Look it up. The League also mandated the British to hold the land in reserve until the Jews could immigrate. That British Mandate included all of Israel as we see it today, PLUS all of Jordan. The Brits (without compensating the Jews at all) chopped off the largest portion, that land EAST of the Jordan River, as a homeland for the "Palestinians" and left the rest as a homeland for the Jews. Therefore, JORDAN is "Palestine" and the Palestinians can get out of Israel any time they want; the Israelis will not try to stop them.

There ARE no "Palestinians." They are Syrians, Jordanians, and Egyptians, mostly. There has NEVER been a sovereign nation called, "Palestine" run by Palestinians. That being the facts, the Jews could hardly have asked for permission from the "Palestinians" before taking "their" land, now could they..I've posted this before.
I have read the original U.N. Mandate - they carved this spot out
[ In Reply To ..]
and then they just let nature take its course. Israel grew.

I don't think recommendation is invitation. This took place back in the times of colonization. The ruling countries were accustomed to dividing up other's property. You cannot invite someone to someone else's house.

History of Israel League of Nations: Creating a Mandate State

The League of Nations—predecessor to the UN—was founded as a result of the treaty of Versailles, following WWI. Its founding was based on an anti-war sentiment, because of the world's horror at the scope of the war and its losses. Following philosopher Immanuel Kant's idea of a peaceful group of nations, its stated goals were to uphold the "rights of man" (specifically non-whites, women, and soldiers); disarmament; preventing war; settling international disputes through diplomatic means; and improving the quality of life for the citizens of all countries.

Members included: The British Empire, France, Italy, Switzerland, Japan, Spain, Austria, and Hungary. (Notably, despite good relations and the signing of its covenant, the US never became a member.)

In 1922, the idea of a Jewish homeland received formal, international support when the League of Nations approved the British Mandate of Palestine, entrusting Great Britain with establishing a homeland for the Jewish people in Palestine. The Balfour Declaration, legislated five years earlier by the British Parliament, was the first time a world power recognized the need for a homeland for the Jewish people; now, that need achieved international recognition.

The Mandate stated that a "Jewish national home" would be established. The Jewish and Arab communities were allowed to run their own internal affairs, and Jewish life flourished in Israel.

However, in 1939, under pressure from the Arab community, Great Britain issued a White Paper, essentially reneging on the original declaration, and stating that a Jewish homeland was no longer a priority. Immigration to Palestine was severely restricted, and because of this, many Jews were unable to flee the persecution taking place in eastern and central Europe during the Holocaust.

In 1947, the newly-created United Nations (the postWWII reorganization of the League of Nations) passed Resolution 181, recommending the "Partition Plan," which would divide the country into a Jewish state, an Arab state, and a UN-controlled territory around Jerusalem.

According to the recommendation of the UN General Assembly, the Jewish state would consist of the land stretching from Haifa to Rehovot, the Eastern Galilee, and the Negev, including Eilat. The Arab land would include the Western Galilee, the town of Acre, the Samarian and Judean highlands, and the southern coast from Ashdod through the Gaza Strip. The land given to the Jews included the areas heavily populated with Jews; the Arab lands consisted of areas with mostly Arab populations. The Arabs received most of the water sources. The Jews received a bigger percentage of Mandatory Palestine, to accommodate for projected growth in immigration, but much of that was the Negev, which was not arable. Most Zionists celebrated the vote, while the majority of regional Arabs rejected it.

In May of 1948, Great Britain announced it was ending its Mandate over Palestine, and Israel declared its independence. The neighboring Arab countries immediately declared war on the new country. By the end of the 1948 War of Israeli Independence, Israel had increased its land by over fifty percent.

Just compare the WEAPONS (including nukes and their protective dome) that Israel has, compared to the Palestinians: RPGs (that can't enter Israel) and ROCKS! And it's ISRAEL that has the history of stealing land, not Palestine.

"increase" its land all the time -- by STEALING it from the Palestinians.

It's bulldozing down buildings in Palestine as part of its "self-defense" war going on now -- making room for more land to steal.
The idea of Israel not being "compensated" - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
is laughable.

Our country alone "compensates" Israel much more than we "compensate" our own people, and you can bet that Israel will DEMAND "compensation" from us for all of our weapons that they used up while they continue their massacre of Palestinians.

The Israelis have nukes but don't like to publicize that fact. Yet, we want to declare war on Iran for wanting the same kind of protection FROM Israel.

The Palestinians can throw all the rockets they want; the "dome" of security will continue to protect Israelis.

While almost a thousand Palestinians have been assassinated by Israel, only a few DOZEN Israeli deaths are being reported.

To me, that is nowhere near being an "equitable" number.

The Israelis continue to steal Palestinian land.

But all of this is really wonderful, right?

WRONG!
So I conclude you dont think Israel has a right to - exist. I don't accept
[ In Reply To ..]
your premise that Israel "stole" the land. That's simply not historically true.

I will agree at this point there are terrorists living amongst the Palestinians. They do not have a country, they do not have an organized military. They have no representation at all, legally. Furthermore, they have so little economic future, that many of their youth see this as the only way to gain a future, is to fight Israel for the right to exist.

Israel has a right to exist, just not wherever and whenever they wish. The mandate specified an area that apparently was not enough for Israel, they just continued to expand. They have been knocking down Palestinian villages for years, with 24 hours' notice, "Get out, we'll be back in the morning." They then come back and level the village and build apartments for young Israeli couples who are doing their patriotic duty by inhabiting these lands.
Israel is not at war with Palestine, it is at - war with Hamas,
[ In Reply To ..]
a terrorist organization. There are many Israeli-Palestinians who work together, their children play together. The Israeli Defense Force protects all of them, not just the Jews. The have Christians, Jews, Muslims, and other religious minorities. That might explain why Israel is the only country in the world that has potential citizens flocking to it during a time of war.

I bet a majority of Americans against Israel think there was an Arab nation called Palestine with citizens called Palestinians that the Jews invaded and displaced. This is a fundamental confusion.
