Wounded Democrats look for answers

Posted: Nov 6, 2014

'Stung by this week’s heavy defeat at the polls, Democrats on Capitol Hill are aching for leaders to find a new direction in the next Congress.  “We spent six years dancing in the middle and not providing an assertive contrast to the Republicans, and we’re paying the price for it,” Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.), head of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, said Wednesday by phone.'

Providing an assertive contrast to the Republicans?  That is exactly why the Democrats were squashed on Tuesday.  What is it going to take for them to realize that their liberal and progressive policies are not what America desires?

What A Coincidence, Immediately After I Posted My Question ;) - Kentuckian

[ In Reply To ..]
Regardless, just so there's no confusion, I clearly stated I was a former Democrat, now independent, and I certainly didn't have any progressive ideas.

I just asked those in the field of transcription how, in good conscience, they could justify cheering on a career politician who voted 3 times for tax breaks for companies outsourcing overseas and for himself a government pay raise 6 times?

So...no one has an answer?

*crickets*

Okay. So I guess I am to take it that most here are more interested in distracting from that question by throwing anyone who doesn't agree with them entirely into the "Obama Lover" box, which is not that far from Mitch McConnell's strategy and helps me gain insight into why.

Because correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm left then with nothing to believe other than your respect for your own career field and the American workers within it was overshadowed by your hatred for Obama.

I was truly hoping for a more rational answer, but...okay :/

The other possibility - sm

There are no true MTs on this board that vote Republican.

I'm a true MT and a true Republican.

From above:

Are you cheering on a career politician who voted 3 times for tax breaks for companies outsourcing overseas and for himself a government pay raise 6 times?

Not bait, just an answer. I have not been able to sift through these posts to find an answer.
It is not your place to question whether someone - Mrs. Tingles - s,
[ In Reply To ..]
Is an MT or why they voted for something.

Answering posts is not a requirement here. Many posts myself I don't answer because they are usually baiting to get others into an argument.

However, to answer your question...I am an MT and a true Patriot of this country. I am a Republican.

I don't cheer on anyone. I look at a politicians voting record, what he stands for and base my vote on that, as do most of my fellow republican patriots.

It doesn't mean anything to me whether someone claims they are a republican, democrat, independent, communist, green party or whatever. People can say they are whatever they want to, but their viewpoints, actions, voting and posts tell how they lean.

With that said I don't support a person if they give tax breaks to politicians outsourcing to overseas. But that is not the only factor I use in who I decide to support. I don't recall your post, so I am not sure who you are referring to. It it's Mitch McConnell I would support him whether or not he gives tax breaks, because guess what...the democrats are doing it to. Except they are so out in your face about it. Any good ideas the republicans have had over the past few years were obstructed by democrat politicians who didn't care whether or not there it was good for the country. If a republican suggested it they wouldn't even listen to it. Harry Reid ran that position as though he was a mob boss. First time I voted straight republican since I cannot remember because the democrats have made such a mess of the country they need to be removed, and boy were they - big time. Looks like I'm not the only one who feels this way. The whole country does. People are tired of losing their jobs, homes, etc. They are tired of socialist/communist ideas being infiltrated into our society. They are tired of the constitution being stomped on and destroyed. There are so many reasons people didn't want democrats in. Mostly because we want better lives for us and our children, families and friends. Most (not all) but every democrat I know don't care about anyone but themselves. As long as they get what they want they don't care about anyone else (and that includes some people in my own family). Patriots of the country have been having their patriotism questioned if they supported the constitution. According to democrats their hit list of people on their terrorist list are veterans, Christians, people who supported Ron Paul, anyone who doesn't believe in the communist agenda, and also home schoolers, along with a whole list of other people who are true American patriots. Sorry...that is just wrong. That kind of attitude is very disheartening. Everything built to make this country strong is gone because of the democrats and Obama. The country feels this same way too.

As for voting I vote who I think will do a better job.
Valid point actually about Dems, but I was the OP of the question - Kentuckian
[ In Reply To ..]
...not whomever this is you're responding to, here, Ms. Tingles, but it's not me; however, I do thank them for getting that point:)

It's true that Dems also give tax breaks unfairly to their pet policies and companies, that's a very valid point; which is why I'm an independent.

In fact, one of the reasons I'm an independent is discovering that it was, in fact, Bill Clinton who helped draft and push for NAFTA, which started it all on outsourcing.

However, we can't deny that since that time, it was George W. Bush that media/press-pushed congress for extra tax breaks for companies that outsourced overseas, with McConnell standing right alongside him, from 2004-2008, and this has been the single biggest threat to our livelihood as transcriptionists in this career field.

For a party that hates communism, so much, why was it okay they pushed us to send most of our labor to Communist China to the point that most of our debt is to them?

I'm sorry, I just can't overlook that enough to justify voting for someone who is largely responsible for the devaluation of my job, regardless of the other issues, it was too personal for me.

And besides, if you had seen the ads here, he never addressed that; in fact, he didn't address much at all until that the last month other than calling Alison an "Obama Lover" for the past year.

Perhaps you'd have to live here and seen the ads:/

Regardless, people certainly have the right not to answer questions, here, but surely you are not suggesting that people don't have the right to ask them questions or need some authority to do so either

for the first time in 15 years.

You forgot bible thumpers and gun toting rednecks as Murtha used to say (and I won't even give him a title because he was so vile and crooked).

I'm hoping the Republicans can straighten out the mess Reid made. I just hope Reid didn't burn, shred, or hide forever the 370 bills that the House passed. Some of those were very good bills that should have been taken up by the Senate but blocked by that Reid.

will likely do in the coming two years, it almost guarantees another Democrat will be elected in 2016.
Since the future has not happened yet nobody will know - Mrs. Tingles - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Nobody knows what will happen in the next two years since, well...since it has not happened yet. I do know in the past Americans have done much better in their lives when republicans were in office. Every time the democrats get in office that's when the middle income now becomes the poor and the rich keep getting richer. When you say the word "vile", that is how many Americans describe the democrats. You don't know what the republicans will do in the future, yet the country knows all the vile things the democrats did to them over the past few years, hence the huge change in the elections this year.

I hope the republicans will do good things. They have a lot of repairing to do. It won't happen overnight though. I say since the democrats have made such a mess of the country it's time to give the republicans a chance. If they fail (and of course nobody knows whether they will or not), but then the next election I'm sure they will get an ear full too.
The same things were happening no matter - who was in office these past 2 decades.

And therein lies the problem. Parties of people, acting like dogs in a pack rather than responsible leaders, just do not work.

Our government needs to go back to the drawing board and reinvent itself.

What's your definition of "immediately"? ProMT's post was 2-1/2 hours after your question.

No, I meant in terms of the order of events, i.e., her post does "immediately" follow mine - Kentuckian

And yes, you're right - it WAS the only post after mine for hours, it WAS curious.

Got anything else you'd like to say about my actual points or an answer to my question perhaps?

Or are we back to nitpicking semantics, typos, and details as a distraction from the issue, the big picture, and the actual order of events again?

I prefer to focus on real issues, and one of the issues is that the Democrats lost. Now, it is time to hopefully "move forward" as a country on a path for which most Americans are striving, and, in my opinion, that is not the current path we are on currently.

I gave the most honest answer to your question that I possibly could. Obviously, it was not to your liking. With your attitude, I doubt anyone else would desire to debate with you, and I certainly will not in the future.

I dunno, was I? In this post following my question? - Kentuckian

[ In Reply To ..]
Apparently, considering the vote count under my reply, I wasn't the only one to find your post following mine curious and you're not exactly denying the insinuation either.

Attitude - please, honey - anyone can see there was already tons of "attitude" on this forum before I ever arrived lol

In fact, most people, including myself, usually just shake their heads at this forum and avoid it like the plague as an embarrassment.

But okay, have it your way. You may now return to your regularly-scheduled "I hate" and "I despite" speeches on a daily basis because that's so much more pleasant:)

Don't take yourself or your posts so seriously. - This is just an online political forum.
