Why must I be blamed as a conservative....

Posted: Jun 22, 2015

"We must reject the idea that every time a law is broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker.  It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is respnsible for his own actions." Research it if you want to know who said it.....

Why are fingers pointed at a group of people every time some idiot does something stupid.  I refuse the bear the responsibility for the actions of this guy.  I am a conservative Christian, gun-owner, but I would have been at that church yesterday morning along with millions of others, black, white, red green, Democrat, Republican, conservative, liberal, Christian, athiest, if only I lived closer to show that we love each other no matter what. He is responsible for his behavior and he alone - I am not responsible for it - I did not encourage him to do it - I don't understand why he did it - but he did it - he and he along did it.....he is to blame - not the guns, not conservatives, not an organization.....

;

This one is different - This did not happen in a vacuum

[ In Reply To ..]
This guy fed his sickness on conservative websites and he felt justified in taking action based on the ideology of these groups he felt such an affinity with.

He is responsible for his behavior, but who is responsible for the immense amount of hate and racism that has sprung up simply because President Obama is in the White House? It's not President Obama, despite what conservatives say, that's just plain silly. These sites spew out all manner of horrific rhetoric simply because we have a black president.

No one exists in a vacuum. The conservative influences that formed his opinions and ultimately led this young man into this tragic act are toxic.

Dr. Ben Carson wrote a very good op ed in USA Today and he urges us to "face the facts" about racism (see link).

In his words:

"We can come out stronger on the other end of this terrible tragedy, and we can heal this sickness that is crippling our nation. I know we can. But first we have to face the facts."

How dare you blame it on conservatives - anonie

[ In Reply To ..]
Republicans and conservatives are not racists and he did not read about what he did on those sites. He read the propaganda on the sites that had such horrible content, i.e. KKK and other known groups.

Why can you blame this on conservatives? I think this is absolute nonsense. The left is upset because their brand of making us all live does not work, i.e. taking over everything and controlling it. If you stopped to think, what if it were the other way around and the people made the rich do the way they wanted.

I am sick and tired of everything being politicized. This man did an evil thing well thought out and ranted and raved about it. He is a sick and biased man, too young like most of the youth today to be interested in any kind of problem solving or rationale dialogue.

I just watched the news and they had fake people running for office on the Republican side. These young kids who can vote knew nothing except they were voting for Hilary. Despite these fake people, each had something to say about them. Honestly, we need to demand that people have some idea of who they are voting for and who is running at least.

I would vote for Hillary over any fake person/Republican also. - State the obvious

[ In Reply To ..]
Can't really blame them for that!

I have seen the same type of people being asked questions about Hurricane Katrina and people blaming Obama for his response to that tragedy. There were no "fake people" involved, just the real Obama and the real idiots who blamed Obama for the government's response to Katrina.

Honestly, if they do as you seem to be suggesting and rewrite the Constitution adding a requirement that people have to be educated before they vote, how will a Republican ever win the White House again? Truth.

The group he most associated with was called - Council of Conservative Citizens

[ In Reply To ..]
And they contributed to Cruz, Santorum, and Paul.

They ARE conservatives, whether you like it or not. The websites of hate this young man took his cues from come from the far right.

I am surprised no one has any comment about conservative Ben Carson's op ed, and I quote:

"Let's call this sickness what it is, so we can get on with the healing. If this were a medical disease, and all the doctors recognized the symptoms but refused to make the diagnosis for fear of offending the patient, we could call it madness. But there are people who are claiming that they can lead this country who dare not call this tragedy an act of racism, a hate crime, for fear of offending a particular segment of the electorate."

All of the Democratic candidates have called this a hate crime, so he is obviously referring to Republicans who are dragging their feet, for fear of offending "a particular segment of the electorate."

Let me guess, ultra conservative tea party voters, the Republican base.

"Not everything is about race in this country. But when it is about race, then it just is."

Dr. Ben Carson

Why blame "evil" when the killer has told you exactly why he did what he did and exactly what influenced him? The killer is an admitted racist. Take his word for it and clue in, people.

I remember another right-wing idiot who went into a church and murdered. He told police why he did it. Some of the words out of his mouth have actually been used on this board. (see link)

Right-wing rhetoric has consequences. You can either face facts about the right-wing hateful rhetoric and calls for killing of others or you could blame "evil."

...and I applaud your sense of human decency in doing so. I've heard a few conservatives in my real life, led by their conscience rather than political agenda, do the same, and further - denounce racism entirely - just not conservatives on this forum.

However, that's the problem - we don't hear ENOUGH conservatives condemning Roof AND racism instead of deflecting this issue onto side issues!!!

I can't speak for everyone, but my posts/comments did not "blame" conservatives for his CHOICE to take violent action on his political beliefs.

However, Roof DID admit that the Council of Conservative Citizens and their website heavily influenced him. I said 3 conservative politicians took donation money from this organization, apparently without reading the same site Roof did first.

Additionally, unlike Roof, the Baltimore and Ferguson rioters NEVER said they were influenced by Obama, Al Sharpton or the mayor of Baltimore before their actions. And yet that didn't stop conservatives, here and elsewhere, with bypassing any admission or proof altogether and jumping straight to blaming Obama, Sharpton and the mayors of these cities for revitalized racial tension and riots.

I understand and appreciate your perspective, I do - but with all due respect - perhaps the people you really should be confronting are groups like the CCC calling themselves conservatives that he admittedly allowed himself to be influenced by, conservative presidential candidates taking these organizations money without even checking out their racist website, conservatives who are deflecting onto other issues rather than condemning Roof and racism, and others in the conservative party who have relentlessly stalked and blamed Obama for everything from the fall of the economy to supporting terrorism/ISIS rise to revitalized racial tension to the price of food.

And with that, I think these last few comments are the ones I'd like to walk away for a while on:)

As I mentioned previously, I have a very full plate this summer. In addition, I have a sick pet, my SO has an exciting event in just a few days and there are other reasons. As for those other reasons, I can take a hint and I'm okay with that. Not entirely sure what's happening or why because it's not been made clear, but I can guess

For the record - believe me, I know my flaws, I'm harder on myself than might be apparent. And as much as the left represents most of my beliefs, I'm fully aware of the flaws on the left as well (but believe it or not, I actually give other people more of a break than I do myself!)

But if we're honest, none of our parties are perfect nor has all the answers, as much as we may believe in their ideals. Because if they did, there wouldn't even BE separate parties, we'd all be happy, and we would've solved these problems by now. We can't (or won't) even do that, working together.

But as a parting thought, remember just because someone doesn't agree with every single point we make or exactly how everything should be handled doesn't make them your enemy.

Hatred is the enemy.

People that sometimes disagree with you or how things should be handled?

NOT your enemy.

As always, thanks for the laughs and for making me think, everyone. Until next time:)

PS - I'd like to formally request no replies to this comment please and just keep it about this critical topic. I don't need any more critiquing, I've had a boatload here. And I don't need any well wishes, I'm good:)

And just this once, Mr. Nighttime Fox, if we could spare the personal attacks, that'd be awesome. In fact, if you all do and just move on, I'll make you a deal - I promise I'll stay away at least until the Republican debates. Deal? :)
We can handle the truth; conservatives don't - seem to be able to recognize truth.

[ In Reply To ..]
Racism is a lot harder to pinpoint, difficult to talk about, it is a psychological state that needs to be affected and sculpted. Guns could just be limited or eliminated. Stroke of a few pens and it could happen. Not racism...it is not a tangible. It is not sold, purchased, owned, transferred, dropped, however, it may accidentally (subconsciously) go off.

And no one said all mass crimes have been committed with guns, but most have been and are, as well as individuals shot and killed on purpose and by accident.

Oh, BTW, President Obama went to racism today...and, as usual, the Conservatives heard one word and didn't comprehend the rest.

Forgive me for commenting again after I said I wouldn't (so long as no one replied to my above comment), but I have to do what I consider the right thing...I'm really sorry some are ignoring the fact you are doing what we left-leaners said we wanted from conservatives (and a brave thing for a conservative here to do) - condemning his actions and calling him a racist - thank you :)

And no, I disagree with the point that just because you are a gun owner that somehow makes you responsible for his violence, that is a HUGE leap in logic. IMO, guns are very much like the video game studies that were done - these things don't CAUSE aggression and violence in humans, but they do trigger those behaviors in people already predisposed to aggression and violence.

As for the other commenter who likened what he did to conservatives usually doing "stupid" things anyway - NO - there is a BIG difference between the action he took and what conservatives just spew and normally do. And not all (or even most) conservatives become mass-murderers (except the Bush administration - sorry, had to add that special disclaimer;)

Now I realize I can be tough on conservatives sometimes, even snarky/sarcastic. And that I left a comment last night that's honest-to-God intent was to illustrate to the Tea Party how perhaps they themselves are not immune to being offended (that was NOT reflective of my actual beliefs, though it's no secret the Tea Party is my least favorite kind of Republican and they DO scare me).

But I think I'm seeing REAL hate spewed towards conservatives today for the first time - and how is that going to help anything???

I realize we're all sad, upset, angry and scared about Charleston. We all want someone to blame.

But one thing I know for a fact is that NOBODY on this board is to blame or had a direct influenced on Roof and they don't deserve your hate directed at THEM. Sorry, leftist sisters, but I had to say it because I'm pretty sure other liberals will just sit quietly and not say anything (like they accuse conservatives of doing) - but this kinda stuff hurled is NOT okay,

Unfortunately, he is not the only conservative - who has done something stupid.

You wrote a good post. Unfortunately the worst of the worst who felt the need to spread their hatred of conservatives came out.

The posts denigrated into a conservative bashing feast by a pack of rabid dogs foaming at the mouths, eager for any chance they can try and blame a group that had nothing to do with and not responsible for what happened...AT ALL. I know they don't like to hear that and they would rather create this fantasy that it's all the conservatives fault, but I've learned a long time ago you just can't have a rational discussion about the truth.

No, people who own guns are not responsible for what happened in any way, shape or form. That is pure nonsense.

No, the Caucasian race is not responsible for what happened. Utter rubbish.

No, Conservatives are not responsible for this either, sorry to burst the haters bubble.

It doesn't matter what group this nut cake felt he was part of. He does NOT represent conservatives, Christian or anyone. He was a single sick individual and trying to link him with conservatives is absolute pure hatred at it's finest. Besides, by using that twisted and hateful logic then you would have to say that all the murders and horrific crimes that are committed in democrat states represent the democrats party. Actually when you think about it more, using that logic then all the race wars, all the crimes committed by blacks against whites are Obama's fault because he's the one who gives racist speeches.

The kind of twisted sick and hateful posts here are fueled by the sickness of the liberal websites. Their hatred towards conservatives are fueled by any nut case who calls themselves a conservative, when in fact they do not represent conservatives. There is nothing he did that had anything to do with conservative values. In fact quite the opposite.

If the haters want to go down that road then here's something interesting:

Murder in America and Violent Crimes - Blame democrats:

http://boycottliberalism.com/Commentary/Crime.htm

Conservatives know the truth. Liberals cannot handle the truth.

It doesn't matter what Roof linked himself to. He could call himself the Messiah if he wanted to, but he certainly does not represent conservatives and conservatives do not support what he did.

So while we are on the subject, lets talk about all the killers who are registered democrats - Jared Loughner, John Patrick Bedell. What about James Chester Blanning, The Weathermen (Weather Underground), Carol Anne Burger, The OWS rapists, Bill Ayers. Or how about union goons calling for violence or even engaging in violent tactics. Or when SEIU thugs beat up a black conservative. So then, we should say that those people above represent liberals and that liberals support them. I guess so.

I forget where I read this, but thought it an interesting quote":

"Whenever some nut pulls a gun, here come the liberals hollering about right-wing violence. They truly don’t ever let a crisis go to waste. Rham would be proud of them."

Whether or not this guy was a racist, had a gun, went to church or whatever, he is just a nutcase. He does not represent anything but himself. He does not represent the Caucasian race, gun owners, Christians, or conservatives. He was a truly sick individual.

I've read some pretty wild posts here and by certain posters who are on the board 24/7 commenting on just above every single post, but the hatred that certain posters are accustomed to writing (especially in this thread) is so overwhelmingly sickening. I read it and shake my head. Then feel like I need to take a shower.

Here's a very interesting statement I found and I wish posters here would wake up and realize this....

"Does it really matter what political party he is registered to? He is a nutcase, but neither the Republican nor Democratic party put him up to what he did.

Enough with the petty politics."

Well said and thank you for saying what most of us - conservatives are feeling. I blame

The sad fact, however, is that they probably won't even read it because it doesn't fit with their sick, blame-game agenda, which has been fostered by the president since day #1. Describing a liberal "blame-game agenda" while perpetuating the "blame Obama" mindless meme is the height of projection and hypocrisy that liberals have seen spewed out on this board for years and years now.

Not only can the haters (conservatives) on this board not stand anyone who doesn't agree with their hate-filled extremist agenda, they can't even stand other conservatives that don't agree with their radical right-wing agenda.

We'd like to take the conservatives' lead and blame everything that goes wrong on just one guy, but that would be intellectually lazy and shallow, albeit so much easier than actually thinking.

Jared Loughner is not a registered democrat. I wonder which one of the conservative rags that misinformation came from? I'm not checking your hate list, particularly since Ayers is not exactly a new topic on this board, and linking Obama with his acts and blaming liberals for what Ayers did is not exactly a novel concept in right-wing propaganda media, now is it? Let's all pretend like that's a novel concept and not something we've seen oft repeated in right-wing rhetoric for years now. Conservatives are quite content to link Obama with all manner of people and blame liberals for it, but they don't exactly like those tables being turned, do they? Although they needn't resort to digging out a list of names from the past in order to blame liberals, being that the right-wing rhetoric blaming President Obama for not loving America, not being American, not being a Christian, and blaming him for anything and everything that goes wrong is all over the Internet for the world to see.

Interesting how the right-wing attack machine blaming Obama on a daily basis for everything from their hangnails to Benghazi is now talking about taking a shower because people are connecting their rhetoric with the racist killer in Charleston. Oh, the liberals are so hateful. Boo hoo hoo.

If the killer is being linked with conservative rhetoric, there's a reason for that. It wasn't exactly created in a vacuum. I guess conservatives thought they could whine "take our country back" and hold up signs with all manner of pure hatred printed on them for almost 7 years and nobody would notice when some of that language got spewed back during a domestic terrorist's killing spree.

Don't get me wrong. I think the killer is "just a nutcase" too, but I also think that there are many, many more conservative nutcases out there that are in denial about their endless mindless hate-filled drivel and it's equal nuttiness. You really will reap what you sow, and the truth really does hurt.

I've had multiple washings after reading the pure filth posted on this board by conservatives for the last 8+ years since Obama was elected. The hypocrisy of conservatives knows no bounds whatsoever, and it really is high time conservatives hit the showers; they seem to have finally discovered haters when they've been wallowing in their own drivel and spewing out their pure hatred for quite a while now.

A Day In The Life Of A Republican ConservativeJul 25, 2012
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A REPUBLICAN Joe gets up at 6:00am to prepare his morning coffee. He fills his pot full of good clean drinking water because some liberal fought for minimum water quality standards. He takes his daily medication with his first swallow of coffee. His medications are safe to take because some liberal fought to insure their safety and work as advertised. All but $10.00 of his medications are paid for by his employers medical plan because some liberal union ...

Conservative Case For Gay MarriageMar 25, 2013
I loved this article and I love even more the obvious turn of the tide regarding same-sex marriage.  It's mainly about a former Bush aide, explaining why conservatives shoudl support same-sex marriage. ...One hundred thirty-one prominent Republicans have signed a pro-same-sex marriage legal brief that is clearly at odds with the House GOP leadership and the party's platform in the most recent election. ..."if you believe in freedom, if you believe in limited government, if you b ...

IRS Apologizes To Conservative GroupsMay 10, 2013
Is this Administration facing tough times or not? Another bunch of ILLEGAL activity and harrassment by the most hated arm of government in this country. Can't say there isn't someone behind this who "suggested" they do this. Congress and the conservative groups shouldn't accept their apology. Too bad Congress didn't look into it sooner. I.R.S. for the IRS to determine tax-exempt status - but Obama's brother has a charity - that was rushed through by Lois Lerner herself.   Wait....Obama's brother has a charity?  Is it himself?  Oh, wait, that's the uncle.  Never mind.  But here's a link to the story. ...

Bizarrely, TP Now Claiming JFK Was A Conservative. WHY?Nov 03, 2013
A recent Pew poll showed that well over 50% of conservatives could not say just who was in charge of the GOP, i.e., identify their own leader(s). Most conservatives feel an especial need for a leader to follow too. Could this hole have anything to do with their attempts to "adopt" Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and now John Kennedy as their own by twisting and distorting what these men really stood for? Amusing as the thought of this particular pampered scion of the northeastern elite raving ...

Conservative/Republicans Beware--just AnotherAug 25, 2015
Privatization thus replaces public, government-owned, assets, by privately owned assets, and so it transfers control from publicly elected (government) leaders (who are answerable to everyone at ballot-boxes), to private ones — to private stockholders who decide how those assets will be used — regardless of whether the asset happens to be schools, or hospitals, or land, or natural resources, or roads, or whatever. Anything can be privatized. Anything can be run by an elite, by an ‘owner.†...

As A Conservative, It Really Bothers Me That The DemsFeb 11, 2016
As odd as it might seem, I really wish the Democrats had a decent candidate, for the simple reason that I have no faith in the electorate after 2012.  This country is just crazy enough to actually elect one of these miscreants, and if they do that will put the last nail in the coffin of what was once a great country.   ...

If you are disgusted by the vile filth and disrespect from the left, but still want your voice heard and still want to read opinions of others and have rational discussions, there are other sites for such. I, for one, will be leaving this forum permanently. If you are not aware of another site, you may email me for information, but I fully understand if you don't. (I probably wouldn't email anyone anonymously on this site.) Bottom Line: Don't give up your beliefs and don ...

Interesting Article On The HC Bill By A ConservativeMar 22, 2010
Waterloo March 21st, 2010 at 4:59 pm by David Frum | No Comments |  Share Conservatives and Republicans today suffered their most crushing legislative defeat since the 1960s. It’s hard to exaggerate the magnitude of the disaster. Conservatives may cheer themselves that they’ll compensate for today’s expected vote with a big win in the November 2010 elections. But: (1) It’s a good bet that conservatives are over-optimistic about November – by ...

Is Mitt An Ignorant Conservative Or Just A Liar?Oct 27, 2012
Mitt told a crowd in Ohio that Jeep is going to close down its US plants and move them to China.  The benovalent Romney said after he is elected he will do everything in his power to keep those jobs here (unlike Sensata which he has refused to help). Even after he was told his statement was false, Romney repeated it in another city. The thing is, Jeep has no intentions to close American production. The company put out this response to Romney shortly after news ...
