Is it a low information problem since the MSM lies too? If the debt ceiling is not raised, we still have enough to pay our bills, Social Security, Medicare, and the troops and VA benefits with some left over. Obama says if the debt ceiling is not raised, SS, Medicare and the VA benefits will not be paid. He is an out and out liar. Worse yet, if he means this, and he CHOOSES not to pay these, that would mean he WILL pay his poor friends on Medicaid who have a baby with a different baby daddy every year. He only looks out for his own. He is offensive, a racist, and a divider. He makes me so sick.

if the GOP decides to ignore the Section 4 the 14th Amendment imperative to recognize the legitimacy of all United States public debt appropriated by the Congress, then they ARE to blame for its consequences. This president has clearly demonstrated he is more than willing to explore other legal remedies, such as directly challenging the constitutionality of the debt ceiling, or issuing an executive order that more than likely not only would stand up to a SCOTUS challenge, but could result in a formal expansion of executive authority, or an outright dismissal for lack of standing by its opponents.

I got over it a long time ago. In fact I wrote here many many times that Obama was already picked and was going to be reinstated. Nobody believed me. Well now I can say "I told you so". The proof is it happened and you still don't want to believe it. I thought well you have bad and you have bad, there is no difference unless you change the people behind the scenes. Obama is just a puppet on a strong ling George Bush, Bill Clinton, etc before him. They (the people I listed) put men in the position and they decides who will or will not be there. No difference because the people behind the scenes (i.e., my list) remain in power, remain the decision makers. Soros has even said himself he loves controlling what happens.

I'm afraid that since INFORMATION REALLY IS POWER, expecting our big players to be totally open with us, and always honest in what they do say, isn't going to happen.

What I do is find people whose goals are generally mine, principles mine, and who have a track record I can judge them on. That's all I can do. That's why I was going to be happy with either Obama or Hillary wiling the primary--they're far more like each other, and like me, than not.

I know that when the people I do vote for disappoint me it MAY be because they're not as close to me in their principles as I wish, something that's always happening to some degree because none of them ARE me.

Also ALWAYS happening, though, virtually every time, is that they have a great deal of information not available to me that would explain and justify their actions if it were. It's important to realize our handicaps in trying to evaluate their actions.

Finally, being a pragmatic mainstream liberal, I know better than ever to expect perfection in this world. I have no heroes, never had, and no leader I would ever follow without question. I feel that, having done my part to give them power, it is my duty to know what they do with that power and keep them from abusing it.

A person who looks for a hero to follow without question could probably not understand that. Such a person may feel she will find greatness and perfection in the right leader. I know I never will.

So, knowing Obama is occasionally lying (and, yes, his statements and actions can be checked against what we feel we do know) doesn't make me happy, but if I'm satisfied with what I see when I look at the whole picture I feel I've made the right choice. That's just the way it is in an imperfect world.

After one full term going into a second, BTW, I'll take Obama gratefully over the best the entire GOP 2012 slate could muster all put together. It's not your fault, but as a group aspiring to leadership of the greatest nation in the world they were a horrible, pathetic, scary joke.

I know your view of Obama doesn't allow you to recognize it, but most of the country knows by his words and actions that's he's pretty mainstream, leading a BIT left on some issues, yes, but never out of the mainstream. After saying "not TODAY" you claim your misinformation is coming from a speech "LAST WEEK." Pay close attention. Today does not reside in last week.

The president also talked about SS, MC/MA and VA benefits within the context of spending cuts versus revenues and revision of the tax codes, as recently as the press conference just two days ago. When speaking of raising the debt limits, he has categorically only said one thing. That the debt ceiling is not about FUTURE spending in any way, but rather is only relative to paying existing debts. When speaking of what happens when House GOP holds the debt ceiling hostage, we never have to look any further than November 2011 to see the messy consequences of that self-inflicted credit downgrade. The GOP wimped out and stopped short of closing the government down all together then, but most of us remember what the outcome was for them the last time they tried that. Newt was run out of town and the dems immediately gained a majority in the House in the next election.

President Obama also discussed SS, MA/MC and VA benefits within the context of the 14th Amendment that says the integrity of the national debt "shall not be questioned," and the pros and cons of whether or not the House GOP will act like adults and take a responsible vote on it or if they will force his hand by throwing the tantrums to which we have all become so accustomed. In that case, he is completely justified in signing an executive order.

You just don't like it since he put that ball back in the GOP's court....right where it belongs. Now, unlike you, I do not shy away from posting the source of my information. Here's the full transcript of that press conference, wherein you will find nothing to back up your bogus claim.
