Looks like they were lying.....

Posted: Sep 26, 2012

It's being reported that the White House knew Libya was an orchestrated attack within 24 hours.  But it was "a result of the video" for how long?  It didn't take a rocket scientist to know that it was terrorism, but I reall, really hate being lied to.  Especially by an administration that's trying to be reelected. Gives me pause to wonder what else they've lied/would be willing to lie about.

As being reported in the Daily Beast.  See link.

DH tells me I am wasting my vote if I vote for someone else, but I truly don't like either of the candidates.

Understood, but - cory

at least vote for the one who can turn our economy around.

But Im not convinced - Romney can do it.

[ In Reply To ..]
BTW, didnt mean to put Rmoney while ago, fingers slipped:0) It just seems to me that unless Congress works with the president, it will continue to be a cluster$#@* like it is now. Seems like the vast majority of politicians are just there to line their pockets and get that great retirement plan. I have voted in every election since 18 year olds got the vote in '72 and this is the first year I have felt like this. Sorry to ramble...

There's a reason why in Florida the ballot is anywhere from 6-10 pages long, small print, legal plus size document, and early voting has been cut down from 15 days to 8.

Sadly, we've had four years to learn that Obama CAN'T do it, despite his promises to the contrary.

I'm not sure if Romney can do it either, but he does have the business background on his side and at this point, I think that will benefit our country. I think he deserves a shot, since Obama hasn't gotten it done. I don't agree with all of Romney's platform, but right now I think the economy has to be our #1 concern.
Romney vs. Obama on the economy - Fanatical Hypocrite

I can definitely understand your reluctance on Obama. Personally, I doubt he has it in him to fix the economy either. Partly, as another poster put it, without the support of congress any president would fail to complete the task. Also, in 2008, I had no belief that the economy would or could be fixed in 4 years. I doubt even 8 years will do it. The foundation on which America's market is built is sand, so no matter how well or how big we build it, it will sink again.

I definitely understand your view of Romney's business experience. I'm not really looking for a businessman and if I was, I still wouldn't pick Romney, but I get why people gravitate towards that. It's a common sense approach. But for me I don't count investors or venture capitalists as true businessman. I'm very jealous of them. Rub your money together until it breeds? I wish I had thought of that, honestly.

In my mind, I prefer your classic business creators like Henry Ford, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, etc. People who built real things.

Also, Romney seemed to destroy a lot of the companies he got his hands on. Certainly, he was smart enough to always get paid regardless, but I find that dubious.

I'm going with Obama. He wrecked a lot of stuff, but the fact that we are still using paper currency instead of animal pelts makes me feel like he managed to clumsily hold the country together during free fall.

I would like to hear more about what Romney plans to do. Right now it sounds like it's tax cuts and de-regulation. I'd like to know whose taxes and what regulations beforehand though.

voters really need to know the details of Romney rhetoric. "We are going to put people to work and get them off welfare." How? Maybe we are to believe what he said in Boca, that when he gets in office, it will just happen "without doing anything"...

President Obama's record is out there, whether one agrees or disagrees, we have a policy record.

Anyhow, maybe the debates will shed a little light on the details of Romney's policies. I just hope the moderators don't let either one get away with vague rhetoric.

Mitt's Plan

Reducing and stabilizing federal spending is essential, but breathing life into the present anemic recovery will also require fixing the nation’s tax code to focus on jobs and growth. To repair the nation’s tax code, marginal rates must be brought down to stimulate entrepreneurship, job creation, and investment, while still raising the revenue needed to fund a smaller, smarter, simpler government. The principle of fairness must be preserved in federal tax and spending policy.

Individual Taxes

America’s individual tax code applies relatively high marginal tax rates on a narrow tax base. Those high rates discourage work and entrepreneurship, as well as savings and investment. With 54 percent of private sector workers employed outside of corporations, individual rates also define the incentives for job-creating businesses. Lower marginal tax rates secure for all Americans the economic gains from tax reform.

  • Make permanent, across-the-board 20 percent cut in marginal rates

  • Maintain current tax rates on interest, dividends, and capital gains

  • Eliminate taxes for taxpayers with AGI below $200,000 on interest, dividends, and capital gains

  • Eliminate the Death Tax

  • Repeal the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT)

Corporate Taxes

The U.S. economy’s 35 percent corporate tax rate is among the highest in the industrial world, reducing the ability of our nation’s businesses to compete in the global economy and to invest and create jobs at home. By limiting investment and growth, the high rate of corporate tax also hurts U.S. wages.

  • Cut the corporate rate to 25 percent

  • Strengthen and make permanent the R&D tax credit

  • Switch to a territorial tax system

  • Repeal the corporate Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT)

Mitt's Plan

Mitt Romney will treat regulatory costs like other costs: he will establish firm limits for them. A Romney administration will act swiftly to tear down the vast edifice of regulations the Obama administration has imposed on the economy. It will also seek to make structural changes to the federal bureaucracy that ensure economic growth remains front and center when regulatory decisions are made.

Eliminate Undue Economic Burdens

One of the greatest problems with the federal bureaucracy is that each incoming presidential administration leaves in place much of what its predecessor constructed. The result is layer upon layer of often unnecessary or inconsistent regulation. President Obama has compounded this problem with unprecedented federal power grabs over wide swaths of the economy. Obama-era laws and regulations must be rolled back, and pre-existing ones must be carefully scrutinized.

  • Repeal Obamacare

  • Repeal Dodd-Frank and replace with streamlined, modern regulatory framework

  • Amend Sarbanes-Oxley to relieve mid-size companies from onerous requirements

  • Initiate review and elimination of all Obama-era regulations that unduly burden the economy

Reform Environmental Regulation

As president, Mitt Romney will eliminate the regulations promulgated in pursuit of the Obama administration’s costly and ineffective anti-carbon agenda. Romney will also press Congress to reform our environmental laws to ensure that they allow for a proper assessment of their costs.

  • Ensure that environmental laws properly account for cost in regulatory process

  • Provide multi-year lead times before companies must come into compliance with onerous new environmental regulations

Adopt Structural Reforms

An agency may be able to conceive of ten different regulations, each imposing costs of $10 billion while producing at least as much in social benefit. Moving forward might sound like a great idea to the typical regulator. But imposing those regulations, no matter what the social benefits, has a similar effect to raising taxes by $100 billion. Regulatory costs need to be treated like the very real costs they are.

  • Impose a regulatory cap of zero dollars on all federal agencies

  • Require congressional approval of all new “major” regulations

  • Reform legal liability system to prevent spurious litigation

That is why Romney will get my vote. - nm

Mitt Romney will rebuild the foundations of the American economy on the principles of free enterprise, hard work, and innovation. His plan seeks to reduce taxes, spending, regulation, and government programs. It seeks to increase trade, energy production, human capital, and labor flexibility. It relinquishes power to the states instead of claiming to have the solution to every problem.

Any American living through this economic crisis will immediately recognize the severity of the break that Mitt Romney proposes from our current course. He is calling for a fundamental change in Washington’s view of how economic growth and prosperity are achieved, how jobs are created, and how government can support these endeavors. It is at once a deeply conservative return to policies that have served our nation well and a highly ambitious departure from the policies of our current leadership. In short, it is a plan to get America back to work.

An AG who can get away with not producing information on Fast & Furious for over 18 months and still hasn't complied? And BO uses his "executive privileges" so the AG is safe? AG likes to play the race card at every available moment. Obama hobnobbing with The View and his rapper friends instead of meeting his obligations to Israel and the UN? (Not that I think much of the UN, but it's the idea that counts. The murder of our ambassador in Libya just a BUMP IN THE ROAD? WTH? Amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants, which means we will be supporting their freebies even more than in the past....Health care that will fine you if you don't have it, but if you can't afford the health care, how the heck are you going to pay the $3000 fine that will be implemented if you don't have insurance? APOLOGIZING almost to the muslims for a movie the US had NOTHING TO DO WITH? How about taking a stand, cutting off the aid to those countries who hate us so much....this president has ambitions to make the US no longer #1 in the infrastructure and he is doing a darned good job at making it happen. Really THINK before you cast your vote this year. Again, I'd rather go for the unknown than see the final destruction BO will do to bring this country down. Sorry for the rant. But I can't understand how anyone can want him to remain in office as he slowly destroys our country.

Compared to what we had under republican "rule", - yes. Yes. Yes I do.
