especially the part about which "version" of Mitt Romney is running and even the need to devote more time to building a centrist coalition, as much as it pains me to think about watching President Obama butt his head up against a stone wall again. My favorite part? His musings about what kind of world his daughters will inherit. It's amazing to me that the GOP has managed to alienate someone as informed, sensible, and straightforward as Mayor Bloomberg, whom they ridiculed relentlessly over his embracing Michelle Obama's obesity issues.

On both sides, warrantless wiretapping is something we can get over. Imprisoning people without trial, we can let that slip. Three pointless wars and a dozen pointless conflicts within a single decade, well that's as American as apple pie. Make me drink slightly less high fructose corn syrup a day, or bypass that by getting two cups, and there's blood in the streets over it.

I take solace this election in the knowledge that no matter who wins, the human race is still doomed.
