Ah, yes, former Gov. Crist - who lost to Republican Marco Rubio.

Sour grapes?

He ran as an indie after the FL GOP got too small minded - to contain their moderate majorities,

their voices, and their insistence on compromise and moving the state forward instead of backward. The highjackers were intolerant of their hostage's sensible views, calling them all sorts of names, just like their national counterparts, where house and senate RINOs are retiring, sitting out election cycles and defecting at a brisk pace. They are also speaking out, one of the perks of having shed the shackles of partisan dictators and former overlords. The FL establishment pols are no different than the ones in DC, and would NEVER stand for the emergence of a third party, anymore than they would stand for a shift back toward the center, especially since a formal split would spell defeat for their unpopular agendas. THAT is why Rubio won his seat. He knows how to play ball with the bosses.

Oh, BTW, Crist did drain nearly 30% of the GOP vote away from the right wing. In fact, Rubio did not get a clear mandate, since more people voted AGAINST him than voted for him. Just sayin'.

Crist is defecting because he still has a lot to offer his constituents and will bring much value to the political stage in the near future. His experience is impressive, so I feel certain democrats will welcome him with open arms. In future races he will have the advantage of pulling other disenfranchised GOP moderates in tow, who find themselves banished to the same intra-party wilderness Crist just left, not to mention new democratic supporters eager to benefit from his keen insight into the GOP extremist minority who has usurped the party.

IMO, that explains the sour grapes you now find yourself chewing up and spitting out all over the place.
