That sort of reactionary mindset would need intensive group therapy to open up and become even a little accepting of a candidate like him. On their own, the habit of hating won't allow it. That's the basic difference I was describing between people wired to hate and thoughtful, generous-hearted people of all persuasions.

Qualifications for US President. Must be "cool guy." I don't hate our President, but I certainly don't think his coolness factor has helped him deal with any of the problems we face. I don't want a President who is hanging out with Jay and Bey instead of at the White House when his foreign policy is blowing up in the Middle East. I don't want to have to tune in to Letterman to find out what he thinks about what is going on in the world and then, for my efforts, find out he can't even remember what the deficit was when he took office. I can find someone to hang with for that kind of fluff. I don't want a pal, I want a leader and a commander in chief.

What surprises me is seeing so many of his ads here in Washington state, which is pretty Democrat. Makes me wonder what his internal polls are showing that we don't know.
