Weak President?

I may be all wrong here, but I'm wondering if having a weak president has led to all these scandals, e.g., IRS, NSA, F&F, Benghazi and now the VA (have I left any out?). Would the scandals have happened anyway, or did people think they could get away with stuff because this president is weak? I, for one, am becoming more and more convinced that government is too big. A lot of government entities should be privatized.

You made a lot presumptive comments, starting with the assumption that Obama is weak.

I think the president who actually GOT bin LADEN *and* the ACA passed is the epitomy of strength.

But the question you posed is fair: History shows us that these 'scandals' are nothing new to any administration, but that some 'scandals' are truly scandals, and others are merely incompetence magnified...

to me its a bit simplistic to ascribe 'scandals' as the result of just one thing.

Now to privatization. PUT the profit factor in for private companies and history also shows incompetence and corruption DO not disappear. Quality of service/product goes down while greedy for profits line their pockets.

Government has lots of flaws, but it does NOT HAVE an unlimited profit motive. We can fix the flaws.

Obama "GOT" bin Laden with intelligence gained from the previous administration and passed the ACA after backroom deals, bribery, and a cloture vote in the Senate because Scott Brown would have ended their supermajority had they waited another month.

I was happy at the time to see the PATRIOTS in the country, regardless of party, cheer this victory which BUSH promised to do but never did, but at the time I didn't slam Bush for not doing finishing the job! It's called FAIRNESS.

Yes it's a collaborative effort but that doesn't take away from what I originally posted.

HISTORY will show that 911 happened on Bush's watch, and binLaden was killed on Obama's.

History also shows that Bush did NOT do enough to thwart 911 -

I mean ask yourself: If you are playing fair how could you not know (by now) the circumstances under which bin Laden was 'got'?

I don't actually CREDIT anyone but the military for this successful operation, but there is no doubt that the COMMANDER in chief did more than say, "GO!"

And if you and/or others on the board have a shred of fairness, you will admit that HAD Bush 'got' bin Laden you wouldn't be skimping on the accolades! There would be calls for a national holiday honoring Bush...

He should never draw that 'red line' and then not do anything. Since he is the CIC, he has the ability to stop defense cuts where weapons are concerned, but he's all for those cuts as if it's going to make a difference where aggressive countries are concerned - Russia, Iran, North Korea, and China are good examples. He has also "fired" the best generals and colonels this country had and replaced them with less experienced who seem too weak and less knowledgeable. Since the announcement of cutting our weapons and defense, those countries are getting bolder. We are no long a super power. .

As another poster said, scandals happen in all administrations BUT people didn't know about them because they were kept quiet, swept under the rug, and those involved were fired.

These scandals are more public than prior administrations due to the internet, too, which is THE major factor. A lot of people didn't bother with looking information up on the internet a few years back.

First off, Obama didn't get Bin Laden. The military did. He just gave the go ahead, which anyone would have done. Yes, he is weak but strangely arrogant. Go ahead with the bashing comments, I could care less what any Obama supporter has to say to me about my post.

The government cannot be trusted to manage anything anymore. Now the EPA is under fire. The private sector, if they failed for whatever reason, would be held accountable in the form of loss of business/revenue. Look at the model of FedEx and UPS vs the USPS. Nuff said.

Part of what he says is tax cuts will help do that. We have seen through decades that this has not created jobs and merely put more money in the pockets of the wealthy.
