She been nominated for assistant secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, a State Department position that requires Senate confirmation. Though one might expect her nomination to go the back-burner route of all other administrative nominations, initial reactions have been fairly positive. John McCain and Lindsey have issued the following joint statement:
"Ambassador Victoria Nuland has a long and distinguished record of service to our nation in both Republican and Democrat Administrations. She is knowledgeable and well-versed on the major foreign policy issues as well as respected by foreign policy experts in both parties. We look forward to her upcoming confirmation hearings in the United States Senate."
Any condemnations forthcoming on THEIR arrogance?

Despite the misleading headline, which evidently has fooled some folks into believing it's a done deal, four words into the piece we encounter the word "nominated."
Paragraph 3 is a prominent free-standing one sentence statement:
"Republicans are expected to raise the issue at her confirmation hearing." Note the verb tense indicates expectations relative to a future hearing.
Then we have the fringe media all ablaze over John McCain's and Lindsey Graham's joint supportive statement. See the links? What do you suppose accounts for their kind words after the spectacle they made of themselves during the long-forgotten Benghazi hearings?
U.S. Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) today made the following statement on the nomination of Victoria Nuland to serve as Assistant Secretary of State for Europe.
“Ambassador Victoria Nuland has a long and distinguished record of service to our nation in both Republican and Democrat Administrations. She is knowledgeable and well-versed on the major foreign policy issues as well as respected by foreign policy experts in both parties. We look forward to her upcoming confirmation hearings in the United States Senate.”
Special emphasis is placed on the "We look forward to the UPCOMING confirmation hearings..." Alas, another indication that nomination is not equivalent to actual promotion.
More outrage over their statement can be seen in the comment sections following these reports:

They certainly WILL have confirmation hearings. Any time a person is nominated or appointed, they hold confirmation hearings. They will VOTE on the issues surrounding her confirmation. They can deny her taking the position and will the smell of Benghazi all over her, she may have a nasty fight on her hands.
Yes, they will, and yes, she has the stench of Benghazi - all over her. That's a fact.
Of course she will have a "nasty fight on her hands." - sm

The republicans probably have already decided NOT to confirm her. After all, she is an Obama nominee, so if this case is like all others, they will definitely give her a hard time and refuse to confirm her.

rally "the base" into ever-escalating levels of fanatical fury and aimed at breathing new life into the now defunct Benghazi non-scandal....is that your definition of nit picking? Looks like McCain and Graham have moved on. Might want to mull that over to ascertain the finer points of that action's deeper meaning.
