The rich have spoken

Posted: Nov 22, 2010

"If anything, taxes for the lower and middle class and maybe even the upper middle class should even probably be cut further," Buffett said. "But I think that people at the high end -- people like myself -- should be paying a lot more in taxes. We have it better than we've ever had it."

Warren Buffett is the second richest man in the entire United States. Bill Gates, also mentioned in this article, I think is the richest. When Buffett says "we" I hope he is not referring to those making $250,000 a year (chump change for Mr. Buffett). I don't think they appreciate him speaking on their behalf, since that is the breaking point for what the Dems consider rich as far as tax brackets go. Lots of small businesses fall in those brackets.

I would say let Mr. Buffett put his money where his mouth is, and Mr. Gates as well, check that box on their income tax which we can all do to give more, and give that lot more he says they should be giving. Why change the tax code and make him do it when he can do it of his own free will?

Which makes his statement ring pretty hollow as far as I am concerned.

Thanks for posting, though.

Yeah, its time for Buffett to shut up!! - In a totally different category ...

I'm wondering why the talk is suddenly anti-Romney because he's rich?  If my info is correct, John Kerry and Teresa Heinz Kerry had a net worth of about $750 million when he ran for president (along with 5 or 6 very luxurious homes) but it didn't make him look like a bad guy - just a rich guy.   In other words, at what point did it become a bad thing to be a rich presidental candidate?  Personally, I don't care how much money the candidate has.  I' ...

But once again, there is nothing Mr. Feinberg can do because those bonuses were already written into contracts — and there is a high likelihood that the bonuses will create another furor in Congress, just as they did earlier this year. New IRS Data Expose Dems' Phony Tax-the-Rich MantraJan 13, 2015
Taxes: Democrats unveiled a plan Monday that — surprise — would boost taxes on the rich. But new IRS data show these soak-the-rich campaigns are based on total falsehoods.   'Our tax code today is stacked in favor of people who make money off of money and against those who make money off of hard work," Rep. Chris Van Hollen, the top Democrat on the Budget Committee, said Monday.   The plan he announced — which to be sure has no chance of being enacted &m ...
