Sen John McCain thinks AZ and FL should review "controversial"

Posted: Jul 21, 2013

To add insult to injury, McC thinks President Obama's remarks were "impressive" and that he "very appropriately" highlighed his experiences as an African-American male relative to the Trayvon Martin case.  He also voiced his support for Affirmative Action programs and, contrary to Ted Cruz's view, sees "no connection" between SYG laws and gun control.

McCain is in No More a Conservative - Than Obama/Soereto

[ In Reply To ..]
He got involved w/ the same people as Obama a/k/a Soereto.

Don't take my word for it--research it for yourself.

McCain--as a veteran & POw no less--should be ashamed of himself. He has "R" behind his name, but I doubt he even knows the claimed party's history.

I'd have more respect for him if he switched to the Democrat/Socialist party.

I wonder how isolated McCain is. - sm

It will be interesting to see how this plays out politically in the Republic Party. Will it further fracture the party? It appears to be heading that way.

I'm sure the Democrats will have no infighting on the SYG/gun laws, etc., so they'll be united and strong in upcoming elections if Reps choose the non-McCain side.

So vets and POWs aren't allowed to speak their minds and - have

a thought independent of lock-step fringe dogma, or to take action to try to bring their party back from the brink of lunacy.

McCain knows better than anyone else how unrecognizable the GOP is becoming (after more than 30 years of rank-and-file service) at the hands of the destructive, out-of-control, whining, fit-throwing, infantile bullying fringe, who have been deluding themselves since 2009 over how "powerful" they think they are. They are the essence of out-of-touch, but are too self-centered to recognize it, and are in for a rude awakening when they are the ones who find themselves under the bus and marginalized, not only at by their "RINO" parents and grandparents, but also by the electorate-at-large.

This is rich. All of a sudden, McCain is someone worth (sm) - LMAO

listening to. LOL - I'd wager you were singing a different tune 5 long years ago. Most conservatives I know didn't even care for him then, he was just the OA (Obama alternative). Now he's become an icon for the libs. You guys are hysterical.
Being on the right side of ONE issue does not - an icon make.

The joke's on anyone trying to duck the SYG issue and McCain's sensible stance by throwing inaccurate self-serving labels and pompous ridicule around. Conservatives are NOT the only members of the GOP, anymore than "libs" make up the majority of the democrats. I should know. My sister, a faithful supporter of GOP causes for nearly 40 years, has been wondering around in the political wilderness for the past 5 years, and casting her votes AGAINST fringe radicals she is convinced are ruining her party. She had no problem voting against McC whom she considered to be another reincarnation of the W hawk. Now that she's retired, I seriously doubt she'll be turning back anytime soon since she is rather fond of her Medicare and Social Security. After all, she's been paying into it for 54 years.

That said, it comes as no surprise that, by your own admission, "conservatives" were unable to produce an electable presidential candidate in 2008 or in 2012, so they had to go the lesser of two evils route. No surprise at all, seeing as how they have to spend so much energy trying to primary more moderate GOP contenders into oblivion, then wonder why it is they can never make much hay past local or state-level seats.

Too bad. Florida gov already said the law is fine - the way it is. McC is a liberal.

A Controversial Rockwell Painting Hangs Outside The Oval OfficeAug 25, 2011
Norman Rockwell, radical by digby I don't think anything can illustrate how far the country has moved to the right than the fact that Normal Rockwell, once considered the very definition of straight-laced, conservative, middle America, is now controversial among the DC chattering classes: President Barack Obama has taken a decidedly low-key approach to racial issues since he became America’s first black president two years ago.
