Sactuary Cities - a threat to federalism and hence to

The concept of a federal union of states isn't difficult to grasp. Here was the situation at the founding of our country:
1. No state could exist for long as an independent entity. Powerful forces in Europe would ensure that the individual states would be subverted to their own purposes.
2. If states must band together to form a nation, they can only do so if they agree to surrender certain prerogatives to the federation of states - specifically, matters which impact all of the states.
3. Immigration policy is a nation-state matter.
Sanctuary cities assert a power and a prerogative that they do not possess.

Throw the sactuary city officials - in prison where they belong.

Immigration Attorney states there are no sanctuary cities - Truthhurts
[ In Reply To ..]Yet, the cities that call themselves sanctuary cities do so by refusing to honor requests by ICE and DHS to hold a criminal illegal immigrant. This is against the law. They are obstructing justice and harboring a fugitive. The federal government doesn't need the cities cooperation BUT the government doesn't have the means to oversee every prison, every city, every state in order to find illegal criminals. They have always depended upon reporting from citizens and law enforcement for this. The mayors and governors should have their funds/grants taken away and be slapped with major fines.

Immigration attorney Francisco Hernandez described sanctuary cities as “political fiction” and laughed when presented with a map of such cities throughout the United States during an appearance on Fox News Thursday night.
Ed Henry filled in as a guest host on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” and challenged the Forth Worth immigration attorney about his views on sanctuary cities.
To start the interview, Henry asked Hernandez how he could believe that there are no sanctuary cities in America despite numerous mayors proclaiming their jurisdictions as such.
“It is fiction, political fiction,” Hernandez replied. “The federal government can walk into any prison, jail, local authority and take anyone they want away.”
Hernandez’s argument centered around the belief that cities cannot protect illegal immigrants from federal enforcement organizations such as the Department of Homeland Security.
Following Hernandez’s answer, Henry presented a map showing all of the sanctuary cities throughout the United States.
“You can put pins on the map. It doesn’t matter,” Hernandez said as the map was displayed.
“Local officials in those cities will not give the Department of Homeland Security this information about illegal aliens who have been arrested, and thus they are not deported and can commit crimes,” Henry responded.
Hernandez started to laugh when delivering his response, which did not sit well with Henry.
“I don’t know why you are laughing, because they commit crimes in America every day,” Henry said of illegal immigrants.
“The federal government does not need the city’s cooperation,” Hernandez responded, again arguing that the federal government’s authority trumps cities regarding immigration enforcement.
